New Dell XPS Laptops Have Core i5, HD Webcams, JBL Speakers

They may look extra unwieldy next to yesterday’s Airs, but the XPS line has returned – much to its fans’ delight, I’m sure. There are 14, 15 and 17 inch options available, each with backlit keyboards and brushed aluminium outers.

Inside though, there are some decent specs (particularly when you consider they start at $US899. Intel Core i5 460M processors, Nvidia GeForce 420M graphics cards, 4GB of RAM and 500GB hard drives are the lowest options available, with various specs on hand for bulking up your order, along with the usual Blu-ray drives and so on.

As you can probably tell from the pictures, these aren’t exactly light. The 14-incher weighs 2.4kg, and the 17-incher is 3.4kg. However, there are JBL speakers, a 720p-shooting webcam, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports aplenty, and a HDMI 1.4 port.
