Trailer: Metal Gear Solid 3 On 3DS

Kotaku AU

As if we weren’t already hyped enough about the Nintendo 3DS, Konami just had to go and release this trailer and these screenshots for the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake on the console.

Of course the trailer isn’t actually in 3D but, watching the trailer, it’s pretty easy to get a grip on when the 3D is used and where. Or maybe we’re just going stir crazy.

Amongst fans Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is generally seen as the MGS that tones down the self-indulgence and brings the most in-depth mechanics into play. It also has the best boss fight in the history of the franchise and, hence, the rest of gaming.

Hyped? You could say that. You could also say that the Pacific Ocean holds a fair amount of water, that Usain Bolt can run pretty fast, or Kyle Sandilands is a little bit annoying.

Alright, hyperbole over. You can go and watch the trailer now!

    Squee!

One of my favourites, and I never even got to play it all the way through – cannot wait for the 3DS (And not for the 3D, just because the games really in development really appeal to me).

This trailer was released ages ago. I’m surprised Kotaku hasn’t already covered this.

Hrmm this trailer is the same as the one released weeks ago, but seems a lot more compressed, pixelated and clunky..

There is a better version of this trailer out there.

Also, yes, that is the best boss fight of all time. Assume we’re talking about The End? Reckon that fight lasted well over an hour the first time I did it – never experienced anything as intense in a game.

It looks pretty great, but the FPS seems a bit low, it gets pretty choppy when there is a lot happening on the screen

There is an English version of this trailer that removes the lag. Try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ufAZ9GUU8I, there was a bit of lag when I watched it just now but that’s probably because I’m doing this on my phone.

I still think that MGS3 was the best in the series…hands down. The story and the pacing were near perfect – if it were a book, I wouldn’t have been able to put it down. The fact that it was a game was just icing on the cake.
