Microsoft confirmed the release date today via e-mail, telling Xbox Live members the mandatory update will “enhance the interface, navigation, and responsiveness” of the Xbox 360, as well as adding new features. Those new features include the addition of Zune Music and ESPN programming to the dashboard. In addition to an update graphical interface, the fall 2010 update revamps Avatars and adds search capabilities to Netflix.
Video of all those new changes in action can be seen in our video feature of the fall update. A list of less noticeable changes to the Xbox 360 was highlighted by Microsoft last month.
Microsoft expects the mandatory update—you won’t be able to access Xbox Live without it—to take five to ten minutes to install.

Out of curiosity I just booted up my 360, it's not up yet (not that I was expecting we'd get it first but...).
Will most likely be sometime tonight mate
Mine updated when I logged on about an hour ago. Doesn't seem too different tbh except for different shades fo colours to the menus.
Banwave in 3... 2... 1...
Tooo right on that one
Hope I keep my avatar awards after this...
Yep all your rewards and previously bought avatar items have all been modified to work with the re-tooled avatar (which isn't that much different).
has it dropped yet?
not yet
Most likely wont hit until Nov 1st US time. And by that I mean like 2am US time. So 9pm EAST approximately.
It's here now.
New party system makes it sound like people are talking in a bathroom.
I personally wasn't the biggest fan of the changes at first but all the modifications they've made to the dashboard are not only justified, but are awesome. Its a good update.
Be nice if they let us move or hide the "Spotlight".
