Final Fantasy XIII took the Platinum Prize for shipping between one million and two million copies. That prize is to the tune of ¥1 million or roughly $12,000.
Gold Prizes, which are given to games that ship between half a million and a million, were awarded to Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G PSP the Best, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, God Eater, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Monster Hunter Nikki:Poka Poka Airu Mura, Yakuza 4 and Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage. The awards are worth roughly $6000.
Sony will be offering a new line of software called the PlayStation Awards Collection with box art noting that the games won the Platinum or Gold Prize.
These awards might be based on sales, but Sony also included ten games voted on by players in a User’s Choice Award. Those titles are: Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G PSP the Best, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd, The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Final Fantasy XIII, Resident Evil 5, Yakuza 4, God of War III and Demon’s Souls.
