PS3 Getting Tomb Raider Trilogy In 2011

The PS3 will get a Tomb Raider trilogy comprised of high-definition re-releases of of Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary, plus Tomb Raider Underworld, says a senior executive with the studio that made the games.

Karl Stewart, the global brand director for Crystal Dynamics, confirmed via Twitter that a German Amazon.com listing for the trilogy is legitimate. “Yes, it’s official. #TombRaider PS3 ‘Trilogy’ pack coming in the new year. Full details next week. Watch this space.”

Joystiq noticed the German listing earlier today. The trilogy’s listing gave March 22 as a delivery date, and says that all three games will offer trophy support. The collector’s edition will unlock male and female avatars for use in PlayStation Home.

Nice. Will we finally get the ’360 exclusive DLC’ in the trilogy pack? This could be a dealbreaker for me. I have anniversary on the Wii and I haven’t played legends. I stopped playing TR games after 2. Grabbed the remake for nostalgia’s sake and really enjoyed it so I picked up Underworld… Wasn’t too impressed.

I am pretty sure they are. I have all three on 360 and they look pretty HD to me.

They must be trying to hide the fact that the first two (Anniversary and Legend) were available on the the SD consoles like the Wii and PS2.

Are you blind? They’re at BEST medium def, like 63-64% def!

It does seem a wee bit mad to do allegedly enhanced re-releases when the first 6 games in the series could actually benefit from it. Hell put Angel Of Darkness into the Legend engine and you might even get a playable game

Is this a re-make of the re-make? Or did I miss something?

This would be an HD port of a remake (Anniversary). Included (I assume) would be an HD upgrade of Legend (ps2 franchise reboot) and I’m guessing Underworld as it always was. Hopefully (but doubtfully) with the 360 exclusive DLC.

Meh… The only Tomb Raider games that need HD ports are the 5 from the PS1 era, now that’s a pack I’d buy :)
