For the first time in the series, Dawn of War II’s next expansion will let you play as someone other than the forces of the Imperium. Here’s video of evil Space Marines as proof.
The forces of chaos are one of the new playable factions in Dawn of War II, another being the Orks, along with the Eldar and the Tyranids. While previous games and expansions have let you play as different races in multiplayer, this is the first time we’ve been able to take control of them in a singleplayer campaign.
The name of this expansion is Retribution, and it’ll be out in March.

Friday, December 24, 2010 at 9:15 AMI’ve played Dow2 and the Chaos Rising expansion, and am very keen on picking this up. But I just don’t know how they will maintain a story in the single player campaign with no constants (ie you choose the entire team and pick the race yourself).

Friday, December 24, 2010 at 11:34 AMWhen they did the custom campaign mode with the Necron expansion in the original Dawn of War it was fantastic.
Any word on Dawn of War II getting a Mac release yet?

… Guess these don’t count then …
DOW1: Winter Assault – Play as Orks or Imperial Guard in singleplayer.
DOW1: Dark Crusade – Play as 7, yes, 7 different races in a fully fledged single player experience.
DOW1: Soulstorm – Play as one of 9 different races.
