Actually, There’s Another Homefront Collector’s Edition

Kotaku AU

Yesterday we announced that EB had an exclusive pre-order Collector’s Edition of Homefront. Well, turns out that JB Hi-Fi have a separate exclusive, with different collectables. Which one is better? Well, we’ll leave it up to you to decide. (Psst… the JB Hi-Fi one is better).

In addition to the game itself and some DLC weapon camos, the JB Hi-Fi Collecter’s Edition features a novel set in the Homefront universe, written by John Milius (the mind behind Homefront’s unique universe).

John Milius is quite the scribe, having written the script for Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn. We’re quite keen to read his novel titled. Homefront: The Voice of Freedom. We’re not generally big fans of pointless cosmetic DLC weapon add-ons, but a book, set in the game universe, is a pretty decent addition.

    HERE HERE!

    CROWD AROUND RETAILERS/PUBLISHERS!

FOR I HAVE WORD FROM THE CONSUMERS!

Cosmetic DLC does not entice me to preorder/buy from a particular store.

      lol

      Agreed… I’m a sucker for novel tie-ins with games, but $109 is a little bit steep…

I was going to the worst place in the world
and I didn’t even know it yet. Weeks away and
hundreds of miles up a river that snaked through the
war like a main circuit cable plugged straight into
Kurtz. It was no accident that I got to be the
caretaker of Colonel Walter E. Kurtz’s memory any more
than being back in Saigon was an accident.
There is no way to tell his story without telling my own.
And if his story really is a confession, then
    so is mine.

I’m looking forward to Homefront but goddamn I am sick of these crappy LE’s.

Heres an example of a GOOD LE:

    Splinter Cell Conviction Limited Edition.

Includes: Game, Soundtrack, large figure, Chaos Theory game download, comic, in game weapon pack, Tom Clancy 10th anniversary faceplate.

    $130.

Best/Value for money collectors Edition I have ever bought.

By the way; If you read this Ubisoft, don’t get cocky. Right now I’m not very impressed with you

I call and raise you the SC2 collectors edition and the WoW and expansion colloectors editions. they all give enought extra stuff thats worth more than the price for the CE.

Alan Wake CE had books also (real and fake). Some very cool stuff in there.

The Codex Edition of AC:Brotherhood had a beautiful leather-bound Codex and a cool sarcophagus box.

GTA IV had a working lockbox and art books, soundtrack, etc.

Even Fable III had some cool packaging, a deck of cards, and a Two-Face-esque coin which makes playing the game a lot more fun :)

^ I own the above and consider them decent LE’s. (It helps that I didn’t pay anywhere near retail price for any of them :P)

      BEST LE HANDS DOWN:

      Warhammer online
      MASSIVE hardcover art book
      MASSIVE hardcover grapic novel
      Limited edition figurine

And it all came in a massive, heavy ass tome of a box!

      What more could you want?!

Well I suppose I’d want the game that came with it to not be shit. I agree with you that of all the CE’s I own, thats definately amongst the best (if not the best) but WarOnline was a HUGE dissapointment. So many problems from the beta phase (I was a tester for a year) came through into the final build. It was awful. They shoudl have used a new engine, not recycle DaoC’s one :(

Would be better IF the Collector’s Edition included parts from both…

    Propaganda Booklet
    Concept Art Card
    Cloth Patch
    Homefront: The Voice of Freedom

This would be more satisfying! Collector’s Editions where content is split between retailers is THE worst thing a publisher can do to piss of the customer base they are selling to.

They really forget at the best of times, they are ultimately selling to us… not the retailers, yet they will bend over and take one over and over again from whatever retailer wants something different to another retailer.

The German ‘Voice of Freedom’ edition comes with an alarm clock and only costs $75 posted from Amazon.de

The downside is that edition is only available on PC :(

thats not a downside, thats great, because there will likely be mod support and the devs have confirmed alot extra stuff onthe pc version.

Hmm, that IS a better deal but my DIY Collectors Edition is better and cheaper, order the game cheap from ozgameshop and then get the kindle edition of the novel for 8 bucks on amazon

      Now that’s using your noggin.
Also go to retailers and see if you can scab a free store poster when they are done with them.

The Witcher 2 Collector’s Edition had it right.
$150 for: Making of, Soundtrack, World Map, Artbook, Sculpture, Temerian Coin, Dice Set, 3 Stickers, Playing Cards+Rulebook, Pamphlet and Cursed Coin, Game Guide. A shame it’s sold out now, but the standard edition of first print comes with everything minus the sculpture+dice set for $88.

Ridiculously generous compared to this or that stupid KZ3 Helghast Edition for $250.
