From Castle Crashers To… Cold War Missile Drama

Mother Russia (in this case The Behemoth, developers of Castle Crashers) needs to send a care package to the capitalist dogs in the United States. In a missile. And that’s where you come in.

Super Soviet Missile Mastar is a free iPhone game released earlier this week that looks — and sounds — like it came from the early 1980s. Or maybe even the late 1970s. It’s alarmingly simple, as you swipe your finger up and down to guide a missile on its path to the United States, yet also surprisingly compulsive in the same way Canabalt is: as things get faster, they also get more fun.

A word of warning: while the game is both free and fun, it can also be a little taxing on both the eyes and the ears, so we’d recommend muting it once you get the gist of the soundtrack and taking breaks every now and again. For the sake of your continued vision. All that red on white gets painful.
