So You Wanna Be A Boxer – Wanna Be The Champ?

Kotaku AU

I’ve played the demo for EA’s upcoming Fight Night Champion and, having spent many an hour pounding on fools in Fight Night Round 4, I was a little bit confused – thankfully the team has released some tutorial vids that help highlight some of the new mechanics, whilst teaching us how to adapt to the new controls.

Bizarrely enough, after predictably getting a bit irritated by the new control scheme, these vids have inspired me to give it another bash. I’m still lamenting the changes, since I feel like they reward analogue mashing over precise movements, but it’s refreshing to see that the changes probably won’t affect things too much.

Gonna mash me some sweet, sweet taters.

Keep that guard up if you don’t want to be tasting canvas.

The story has sold me on this game. I never really cared for boxing games before but I’m going to START BUILDING SOME HURTIN’ BOMBS.

I’ve never played a Fight Night game, but I might look for Fight Night 4 on the cheap (since you seem to think it’s better, Mark?)

Too hard to say at this stage – could just be my old man reaction to something new [shakes fist].

Loads of people still prefer FNR3.

Pick up a copy of FN4 its good. After playing the demo for FNC I dont know what to say really… The controls… People will be able to just spam you with jabs and it can really get annoying. As for me I prefer the FN4 controls its better. But apart from that it was ‘gonna’ be a day one purchase but I’ve changed my mind and moved onto crysis 2 instead.
