While NCsoft is a pretty big deal in the United States, in South Korea the massively-multiplayer online game developer is the absolute bomb, to the point where it is able to deliver the highest donation of any South Korean company towards Japan’s disaster relief, with a donation five times larger than that of the country’s largest automaker, Hyundai Motor Group.
The donation will be made through NCJapan, a 60-40 joint venture between NCsoft and Japan’s Softbank Corp. NCJapan will continue to offer online gaming services to the country as it recovers.
NCsoft’s 500 million Yen contribution is higher than both Nintendo’s and Sony’s donations, putting the MMO developer at the same level as Japanese idol group AKB48.
