Ocarina Of Time Puts Those New 3DS Cases To Good Use

Nintendo 3DS game boxes have been designed to be friendlier on the environment by using less plastic. All those little holes could look like crap, but Nintendo already knows a good way to make the most of them.

This is the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, and despite the awful picture quality on display, you can still clearly see that the empty little plastic squares have been filled with Rupees, the trademark currency of the Zelda universe.

Cute touch!

Not to play the devil’s advocate or anything, but do they not kind of negate the effect Nintendo was hoping to achieve with the holes? :/

The holes are only there so they can use less plastic. The actual rupees are printed on the back of the box art paper slip.

Personally, i’d prefer it if you had to hold the game case aloft before driving it hard into the ground, shattering it into hundreds of pieces, to reveal the rupee on the other side of the paper..
