The email went out to anyone who downloaded the beta (I played it briefly and got the notice). It contains a link to a .zip (pick it up here) that offers some desktop backgrounds and a large .pdf of the practice target depicted in them. So run go get it.
For those curious, here’s the final statistical tally, which Microsoft reported about 10 days ago:
Total Participants: 1.29 Million
Total Countries Playing the Beta: 145
Total Kills: 927 Million
Total Executions: 127 Million
Total Deaths by Chainsaw: 23 Million
Total Bullets Fired: 23 Billion
Total Match Time Played: 249 Years

Monday, May 30, 2011 at 9:28 AMWow, 1.29 million people took part in the beta? Surely that’s the biggest public beta that’s been done, how many people were in the Reach beta or the SC2 beta?
No doubt speaks to what kind of sales you can expect for this. I’m not that big a Gears fan but I’ll grab it and see what the multiplayer is like.

Monday, May 30, 2011 at 2:39 PMJoystiq had an article on the Reach Beta stats a while ago.
1 million + on the first day (which caused the servers to overload)
1,170,112 total players
157,972,986 total kills
14,205,611 games played
29 years total play time.
Gotta remember that Gears 3 beta could be accessed first via Bulletstorm, then Pre-order, and finally released to the public via the XBL Marketplace.
The Reach Beta was exclusive to people with the ODST disc.
That aside, the Gears 3 beta was still a gigantic beta.
