Alright, alright – give me a break. I just find it hard to pass up pun opportunities such as this one. Just to clarify, Shadow of the Damned is the latest game from Japanese heavyweights Suda 51 (No More Heroes) and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil), a game which features a gun called the ‘boner’ – a gun that you can fully upgrade into a ‘big boner’. Key point – it fires bones.
Yep. This is a Suda 51 game alright, but it’s also a Shinji Mikami game, which means that, while it features utterly insane concepts, it seems to be grounded with a solid control system and innovative mechanics.
This seven minute demo video, featured on Sir Games, is ridiculously gory and seems to shoehorn Resident Evil and Hellraiser into a grind-house inspired lollapallooza of bullets, bones and boners.
We’ll be interviewing Suda 51 later this week, so if you have any questions or observations about the game, be sure to drop them into the comments below and we’ll see if we can ask them man himself.
