The game is being published by EA, and at an event earlier today EA Games’ Frank Gibeau said that, alongside Insomniac’s Overstrike, Respawn’s title is one of two “sci-fi-oriented shooters” on the company’s books.
This isn’t too surprising; it’s long been rumoured that Infinity Ward (when Zampella and Young were still there) was working on a sci-fi shooter, so it must be great for the pair to finally get a chance to make it.
Gibeau says this will allow EA to finally compete directly with games like Halo and Gears of War.

Gee how original
I could say exactly the same thing about your post...
Actually you could say that to absolutely everything, since there is no originality to the degree you probably are after.
Because a world war II or modern day shooter has never been done before...
Nothing is original anymore, the idea of it died a long time ago.
I was reading earlier today on PC gamer about the possibility of a Mass effect 3 (EA) multiplayer (obviously sci-fi) mode.
Obviously this is a big stretch, but if they were going to outsource the multiplayer to another studio, Respawn has the creds. They already outsourced weapon physics to Dice.
OMG, I watched Outlander just this morning. Spooky!
Goodluck to Respawn; hope they put out something that puts a smile to gamers faces and causes Activision to lose sleep at night. ;)
