Vigil’s resident comic book legend Joe Madureira shows off his stunning interpretation of Death on the July cover of Game Informer magazine. The most inevitable of horsemen is dual-wielding scythes and sporting a rather Slaughterhouse-esque mask, prepared to pose for any heavy metal album cover photo shoots he might happen to pass in his travels.
With War taking a little break, it’s up to Death to find a way to restore humanity in the midst of the war between heaven and hell, which sounds ironic until you realise a general lack of living things puts him right out of a job he’s held for ages. Downsizing is a real bitch when you’re the otherworldly personification of a biological process.
For more on Darksiders II check out the July issue of Game Informer, or just wait until E3 next week when we see it for ourselves.

Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 8:32 AMBig fan of Joe Mad!, from the Uncanny’s, Battle Chasers and The Ultimates more recently.
He didn’t disappoint with Darksiders, and this meets the same high standard!

Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:27 AMI remember seeing the concept sketches of the other three horesmen they released right after Darksiders, this looks pretty close to what Death looked like, hopefully we get another glimpse of the other horsemen soonish. Darksiders was an awesome and underappreciated game.

Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:46 AMI’d have thought Death would be held off until the final game, but I’m definitely digging the whole dual scythe concept. I wonder if they’ll be able to have separate upgrades docked at the same time.

Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 4:44 PMI’m glad it’s a different brother, initial reports said War would be the main character again which made me facepalm…

Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 7:34 PMMaybe it’s just me but as much as I love over the top weapons AND dualwielding, dual scythes is just too dumb for me to suspend disbelief… Hell, scythes in the first place are almost impossible to make look like an effective weapon, one of the only games to make them actually look decent was Soul Calibur.
That and Darksiders was utterly mediocre… Though now that the DMC series is over I guess I might have to start lowering my standards. Sigh.

Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:10 AMDarksiders is a really fun game and I’ve been meaning to get back to it… Got prolly half way through but then got sidetracked by a ton of other things.
I wonder how they’ll do a sequel story-wise… obviously I haven’t finished it yet, but the first game has a feeling of ‘finality’ to it. Maybe that’s just me reading too much into the “Everything has been long dead and there’s not really anything left to really fight for” thing :-P
