The Wii game currently doesn’t have a release date, and it’s unclear whether Nintendo’s Nd Cube, which developed Wii Party, will be crafting the game or not.

Yay a remake of a remake of a remake of a remake starring the most useless icon in gaming. Does Mario have a "story" or personality apart from collecting coins and tripping on acid?
do Chess or Go have a story. Story is for narrative-driven media. Games are not innately narrative-driven. Mario's an icon because Mario games are fun and approachable.
I owned and enjoyed Mario Party 1, it got nearly as much play time as Smash Bros.
That being said, I doubt that after 9 iterations of anything that there'd be fresh ideas left.
