Voltron: Defender of the Universe is THQ’s first video game based on the iconic ’80s anime series. It’s coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this October (for ten bucks) and will be featured at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con. IGN has new details and a trailer on the game that offers five-player co-op online, two-player co-op offline and something for single-player only types to do.
Developed by Behaviour Interactive, they of Naughty Bear, Wet and Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime fame, Voltron: Defender of the Universe, expect some of the better known battles from the Voltron cartoon to appear.
Here’s your first trailer for Voltron: Defender of the Universe.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 8:20 AMI normally don’t like to comment about graphics, as it doesn’t take away any enjoyment from a game, but my GOD this game looks disgusting!!!
Also looks like it would be kinda lame to play… but maybe it’s just me?

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 9:35 AMWow you’re right…after reading your comment I thought “couldn’t be THAT bad”, but then I watched it.
I swear this game better not suck balls…ruining Voltron should be capital punishment offense.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 9:44 AMI bet this will be a nostalgia purchase with a total play time of about 10 minutes for me. I just need to stay strong and avoid the impulse buy.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 11:05 AMYou know the graphics are bad when 95% of the trailer is from the 1980′s reference material cartoon, and even that looked better.
That alone should tell people something about the game, they didn’t even want to show it during it’s own trailer.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 12:20 PMomg I hate to say it but I would’ve preferred that the graphics more resembled the 80′s cartoon than that drivel. Who thought that was a good idea???

Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 12:22 PMConsidering the developer’s previous works, I expect this to be rubbish (although I think the graphics are ok for an XBLA/PSN game).
If you play 5 player co-op, what happens when you form Voltron? Will we see some QWOP-style flailing as people try to coordinate?
