With Madden NFL 12 moving its release date to Aug. 30 to be closer to the league’s opening day (assuming that happens), the game’s demo likewise skips forward a couple of weeks. Tuesday, EA Sports will reveal the demo release date, the teams it will feature, and any other details about the demo.
If it followed the pattern of years past, Aug. 16 would be the release date and the demo matchup would pair the Super Bowl participants. However, EA Sports has changed things up, including inviting fans to vote on the demo teams, and offering it with five minute quarters instead of the usual two minutes.
Moving the retail game from its traditional second-Tuesday-in-August slot might mean EA Sports offers the demo on that date as a gesture to nostalgia. If so, we could be looking at an Aug. 9 release.
