At a tournament in 2004, facing near-certain defeat, Street Fighter player Daigo Umehara turned back a hurricane of an attack from another top player Justin Wong.
What he did, under pressure, in front of a hollering crowd, was incredible. It was one of competitive game’s best moments – perhaps its most thrilling play ever. Now you can try to re-create it.
The game Daigo and Justin Wong were playing in 2004 was Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. The game is being ported and polished this year as an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 downloadable game dubbed Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition. (We got the latest on it yesterday.)
The new Online Edition has a training mode that challenges you to pull off Daigo’s unbelievable move. Watch the clip above as Capcom’s Seth Killian explains the history of that great gaming moment and shows how it’s been woven into the revitalised game.
Think you can do what Daigo did?
