Believe it or not, I actually went to Gearbox to check out Aliens: Colonial Marines back in March 2008 - over three years ago! Back then I had no idea it would take so long for us to start getting a second glimpse at where the game was at. But now, Gearbox has released a new trailer, and I really like where this one is heading.
Aliens: Colonial Marines wants to be the spiritual successor to James Cameron’s Aliens and, while I can’t help but feel like I’d prefer some sort of Dead Space style third person title as opposed to an FPS, Gearbox’s effort is starting to bear fruit.
I’m looking forward to seeing more of this.
Thanks VG247

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 9:59 AMThe problem with this game, is that ten seconds in, everyone is gonna be all “Quick, grab the construction mechs! We can just beat up the aliens! Screw crawling around in ducts shooting things!”

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 12:40 PMI think the problem with this game is that ten seconds in you’re going to get somehow separated from your squad (ceiling collapse, door locks etc) and then you’ll be given missions over the radio by your boss, and end up saving the day single-handedly. You know, like every single Aliens (hell, every single scifi/horror) game EVER.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 2:51 PMI don’t know if things have changed since then, but when I first heard about this game the campaign was supposed to switch you around different squad members as you went through the game as a team. That would accommodate four player co-op as well.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 4:13 PMPrecisely my concern. A game based on “Aliens” (y’know, the one with squads of marines) absolutely requires coop and/or decent AI.

Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:24 AMThe movies were so scary when I was a kid, that trailer totally evoked those *omg-now-I’m-scared-of-the-dark-thanks-Mr.Cameron* feelings again.
I want this to be good so bad! Probably will end up hiding under my computer desk though…

Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 12:45 AMAnd this looks different to that garbage named aliens vs predator how?

Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 3:13 AMThat was pretty epic. i really hope that battalion sized force dose not get wiped out leaving only a squad of 4 marines to save the day. But judging by this trailer you might run into other squads or single marines that are in the same situation as you.
And it looks like you might be able to put attachments on your pulse rifle. like better iron signs or by the looks of the side a lazer sight, just thoughs.
