GAME And Turtle Beach Hosting Comp To Sponsor Australia’s Best Gaming Clan

Kotaku AU

As you may or may not know, I’m a bit of huge fan of competitive gaming, in particular pro Halo: Reach. Now GAME and Turtle Beach have announced that they are looking to sponsor a gaming clan in both Halo: Reach and Call of Duty, and are hosting a tournament in order to find the best team in both games.

For any team looking to get involved in pro gaming it’s a pretty good deal. The prizes are as follows.

Specialist Halo: Reach Clan – Winning Clan receives:
$10,000 to cover travel &
incidentals for up to 10 appearances

Each Team member receives:
1x NEW Xbox 360 Console
2x NEW AFTER GLOW Xbox 360 Controllers
1x NEW Turtle Beach headset
1x Team Uniform consisting of
Polo shirt and hoodie.

Specialist Call of Duty: Black Ops – Winning Clan receives:
$10,000 to cover travel &
incidentals for up to 10 appearances

Each Team member receives:
1x NEW Xbox 360 Console
2x NEW AFTER GLOW Xbox 360 Controllers
1x NEW Turtle Beach headset
1x Team Uniform consisting of
Polo shirt and hoodie.

For more details on how to enter the comp, head to GAME’s website here.

How do you beat someone(or a team) in an RPG? They’re usually single-player, and when they are multiplayer they are usually co-op :S

Dissapointing that this is focussed on console gaming rather than PC, but cei la vie.
Also, the only good thing to come out of the Halo Reach multiplayer scene is the fails of the weak which Rooster Teeth uploads on a weekly basis. That’s some funny stuff.

“Dissapointing that this is focussed on console gaming rather than PC, but cei la vie.”

Gaming is gaming, the platform is irrelivant. Anyone who says one rules all others needs to be reminded that the concept only worked to a point in Lord of the Rings.

It’s a shame because games on consoles are made so they are easier because of te awkward controls on a console as well as the particular games that usually make it into high level esports are pretty much all pc so this really does very little for Australian professional gaming

“It’s a shame because games on consoles are made so they are easier because of te awkward controls on a console”

If I got a dollar for every time I heard that myth, I’d bail out both the US and Greece.

Seriously, the controller is not the problem – for FPS I find it easier and comfortable to use a trigger to fire the gun.

The problem lies in how the Interface itself is designed. I still maintain that a controller can be just as a good as a keyboard. The problem is no-one is willing to spend the time to try various combinations, trials, etc to see what sticks and instead take the traditional layout of a keyboard and simply map that down.

You’re full of it. PC > Console in all and every fps game.

Please tell me how you lean with your console controller in Black Ops.

What? You can’t? Sit down boy

Why can’t they do a SC2 comp, my clan would destroy at that(please note, my Starcraft 2 clan has lost two of its one clan wars. Yes I’m serious.).

Star Craft 2 does not have LAN support – which is rediculous.

I admit, I do not play online but even I find that LAN support for multiplayer is a must today. Considering how cheap network hardware is it is realistic to assume networks are not common place in homes.

We cal all complain about a comp that is limited to certain games or platforms as we don’t all play the same games. I’m just glad that Game and Turtle Beach are stepping up to make something of e-Sports in Australia!

I hope if you play Reach or Black Ops that you enter as it’s a great opportunity, and if you’re lucky enough to get invited to this event, I’ll cya there. ;)
