The End is pretentious. It has frequently frustrating loading times, and constantly intrusive dialogue and ‘cut-scenes’. In short: The End is the flash version of Metal Gear Solid 4.
Still, I kept playing it. Why? Because it’s interesting.
The End is a puzzle game. It’s also a platforming game. It also aspires to be meaningful – which can often be a bad thing, but in this case I somehow don’t mind. The End does the Braid thing of integrating vague text, which is running the gamut of pomposity, but – bleh – I’ll forgive it!

The End was also the coolest part of Metal Gear Solid 3. True story.
