Apparently we lied.
Today the duo said that they have stuck a deal, my money is on an unholy one, with Zeboyd Games to develop the third episode of On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness as a game. The latest instalment, we’re told, “will take the series in a new direction, or maybe a really old direction, with a retro 16-bit RPG look and style of play.”
“We originally had the idea of an NES-style RPG last year, but we couldn’t find the right people to do it,” said Robert Khoo of Penny Arcade. “After we saw Zeboyd’s Breath of Death VII and Cthulhu Saves the World, we knew we didn’t have to look around anymore. Zeboyd was a perfect match.”
Episode 3 is set to launch next year.

I never played the original, I only follow episodic games unless they have a proper release schedule, so many aka ARES, Insecticide etc get cancelled.
16-bit though? This might be good..

Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 5:20 PMI have both games but I got about 30 minutes into the first when I was struck with a most hideous case of boredom which is a shame because PA is my favourite webcomic of all time.

Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 6:52 PMYeah… I made it through the first one but wasn’t particularly interested in bothering with part 2. I love PA, but if you strip away the PA coating there was a pretty uninspired game underneath.
