Fighting game enthusiasts should head down to Melbourne this weekend to watch more than 300 players (including some of the best in the country) battle it out in Australia’s end of year fighting game finals: BAM (Battle Arena Melbourne).
Now in its third year, Couchwarrior’s BAM will attract more than 300 players over the weekend to compete in games like Street Fighter IV, Tekken 6, Soul Calibur V, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Virtua Fighter 5, and Blazblue. The matches will be streamed live via video, with 13,000 viewers expected to tune in from all over the world.
The event will also feature playable versions of Street Fighter X Tekken, Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom and Soul Calibur 5 — these will be the first public showings in Australia.
In the lead-up to the event, Couchwarriors are also hosting a BAM pre-party at Melbourne’s Mana Bar tomorrow (Thursday) night.
What? Battle Arena Melbourne
Where? CQ, Event Room 2, 123 Queen St Melbourne
When? October 1-2
How much? $35 will cover you for the whole weekend and include entry to venue and allow you to play casual matches. It does not include entry into the official competition. Different tournaments will have different entry fees (this value will contribute to the prize pool). Those who simply wish to watch and try out Street Fighter X Tekken and Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom will only have to pay $5.
Internets? Right here!

Woo, more exposure for BAM! : D See you guys this weekend!
As EXC355UM has said earlier, watch the livestream if you can’t make it down. Failing that, surely there’ll be various footage up online and I imagine some of the stream footage will be archived too.
