The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection, due later this month for the PS3, still has one of those jumbled, text-filled and logo-filled covers. But it’s what’s on the inside of this HD remastering of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus that counts. On the flip side of the game’s cover art lies the beautiful and minimal artwork you see above, a tasteful trend that’s making Sony-published PS3 games easier on the eyes.
ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection hits North American PS3s on September 27, packing in HD visuals, stereoscopic 3D support and 7.1 surround sound.

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 8:33 AMBah, they should have this as the main cover and the reverse should feature the original abysmal artwork, ideally with the word “sorry” somewhere on it

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 9:15 AMIt works better this way, because the rating stickers and other rot will be on the garbage side, keeping the inside nice and clean.

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 10:13 PMi run the games department at one of these stores and i take alot of care to preserve the condition of my games! but yeah there is alot of abuse out there. whenever i get stock transfered in from other stores i often have to “bring them back to life” clean, re-case etc. and anything i put on cardboad i make fucking sure it’s gonna come off! i could go on, but i wont.

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 1:12 PMConsidering similar was done with the Wii version of Pikmin, it’s odd we don’t see it happen more often.

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 12:39 PMThe only box art i ever saw for ICO was the one on the right. I wonder if the US box art was really that bad?

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 12:42 PMI looked it up, oh wow that is bad.
Why do publishers have so many amazing exaples of artwork for game covers, and then they go and choose the worst possible one?
Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

Friday, September 9, 2011 at 12:52 PMSame here. I got the limited editions of both games when they came out and they have the same artwork. Had to google it but the NA version was truly bad.

Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:39 PMI’m all for having great box art but…
I’d be more concerned for the spine art of these games.. cause ya know, that’s what actually shows on a dvd case.
