The original headline of this article was simply “Motherf**king Grimlock”, but I decided to err on the side of being informative. Now that we’ve gotten that over with, it’s motherf**king Grimlock! The leader of the Dinobots (and the Autobots on several occasions, depending on the continuity you subscribe to) takes his rightful place by Optimus Prime’s side on the cover of next month’s Game Informer, on store shelves October 14.
The game follows the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons to its fateful conclusion: the exodus of both from their dying planet. How High Moon Studios handles that exodus remains to be seen. Will we get the Ark and Nemesis shootout in deep space from the cartoon? The leaving a few good bots behind storyline from the IDW comic book series? Something entirely new?
I am obviously way too excited about this. Here’s a quote.
“High Moon Studios is an extremely talented development team having raised the bar of gameplay and Transformers authenticity in their games,” said David Oxford, Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is an extraordinary project both for the studio and the Transformers gaming legacy — the stakes are higher and the scale much larger than ever before, and we absolutely cannot wait for fans to see all the new characters and epic action that awaits them.”
There, all better. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is slated for release sometime next year for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It will feature motherf**king Grimlock.

Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:10 AMLooking forward to it. War for Cybertron was pretty good in parts. Autobot campaign was much better than the Decepticon one though.

Friday, October 7, 2011 at 11:23 AMOne could argue not being forced to make use of Stealth Force or following the movie plotline and making a sequel to the incredibly good Transformers: War For Cybertron will result in a better game than Dark Side of the Moon.
Bayformers + Movie License + Sell this new Toyline = No hope for the game.
I was a huge fan of War For Cybertron.
And seeing Grimlock in that tank form from War within (or something similar)…

Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 9:18 PMYeah, the Dark of the Moon game was well, a more boring version of War for Cybertron. DOTM’s Stealth Force was quite similar to WFC’s vehicle modes, though = Hover mode with weapons for normal transformation; then wheels pop out and super speed when you need to drive. High Moon evidently didn’t have much time to work on it.
“To sell toys” is par for course with Transformers though, since that’s how it started, and to various degrees continues to be. If anything, the movies are one of the few times in the franchise where toys have been a secondary concern to the main fiction (which makes them the most money).

Friday, October 7, 2011 at 1:26 PMI hope there’s more unique character abilities this time, and they make it more like a unique transformers game, instead of a transformers 3rd person cod clone.
Remove the throw grenade ability, and have them shooting lasers from their guns. Implement a few more melee strikes like Space Marine.
Give Optimus a small trailer upgrade, and let Soundwave delpoy his cassetes instead of a stupid generic turret.

It will be interesting to see how much leeway Hasbro gave High Moon in this case (if this is handled at all in this game). A while back Hasbro confirmed that officially these games fall under the current Transformers Prime cartoon, though the toy company apparently didn’t require the games to follow the exact continuity of the cartoon to give the studio creative freedom.
The cartoon has made links to the game and confirmed something that the game was rather vague about, though.
