Today Zen Studios revealed that X-Men will be the latest entry in its Vengeance & Virtue series of Marvel-themed tables for Pinball FX2, joining Ghost Rider.
Pinball wizards will be tasked with assembling the X-Men, teaching them their powers, and overcoming the threat posed by Magneto — who tears up the floor of the machine, destroys ramps and manipulates the silver ball. (He does so, but subtly, in this trailer). Zen has built beautiful virtual pinball tables that take advantage of video game physics without shattering the game’s structure, so it’s a natural for them to impose magnetism — long the pinballer’s nemesis, real or imagined — on this one.
A news release says:
The table features missions inspired by actual comic events, such as Magneto’s destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge (NEW X-MEN #147) and a pinball version of the Dark Phoenix Saga that uses actual dialogue from classic issues of THE UNCANNY X-MEN. There is even a confrontation with the Juggernaut in which Cyclops, Iceman, Colossus and Psylocke exemplify good teamwork as they attempt to stop the unstoppable.
No specific release date was given with this launch trailer. These tables will be available as downloadable content for Pinball FX2 on the Xbox 360 and Marvel Pinball on the PlayStation 3. There are two more tables to be announced in the Vengeance & Virtue series.
