So it’s little surprise, then, that both Steve Jobs and the iPhone came out on top in both polls. Talk down your nose at Apple’s “gaming” devices all you want, there’s no getting around the fact that both their sales volume and revolution in pricing and accessibility have been very influential over the past few years.
As has Facebook. But then, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg made the top five list himself.
Other individuals listed were Gabe Newell, Shigeru Miyamoto and Tim Berners-Lee, the “father” of the internet. The other four top devices, meanwhile, were the Wii, Xbox Live, PlayStation One and Steam.

Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 12:23 PMI assume they’re referring to the fact that the PS2 and PS3 are just BETTER versions of the original Playstation and not particularly innovative. Great products, just not as INFLUENTIAL or whateverrrrr.

Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 4:04 PMOnly revolutionary thing about Apple is the scale of their distribution. The model itself is hardly original. Steam and XBL existed well before Games Center, it’s the fact that it gets cheap games into the hands of non-gamers by virtue of their massive inbuilt audience. Now it’s just up to MS, Nintendo and Sony to dumb down their products to target the lowest common denominator.
