Hope You Like Final Fantasy XIII-2! There Will Be DLC.

Back in late 2009, Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama wrote on his blog: “The world of Final Fantasy XIII is starting from here on out.” It hinted that FFXIII DLC was on the horizon. It wasn’t.

And Toriyama apparently apologized later for the lack of FFXIII downloadable content.

Now that the game’s sequel, Final Fantasy XIII-2, is out in Japan, Toriyama is once again hyping up DLC, saying that players can “look forward to successive downloadable content”.

Toriyama didn’t discuss further what that DLC entailed other than it would be “varied”.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 had a much quicker development cycle than FFXIII, and it seems like Square Enix has its act together with the title. No doubt DLC is in the game’s future.

I…. would have bought that dating sim lol.

And XIII was a good game. It was linear, but the story was really interesting and there were some really amazing cutscenes in there, like the attempted suicide scene and the awesomeness that was all of Palompolum. Combat was actually pretty good once you got into it, but I wasn’t a fan of how grinding for 2 hours would make you ridiculously OP and let you one shot basically every enemy for the next 100 fights or so.

Call me old fashioned but has it really gotten to the point where people are looking forward to buying their games unfinished?

Square don’t really know how to make good games anymore.

Unfinished games? All dlc has ever been is add ons to an already complete game. 13-2 rocks and u can get stuff like alternate costumes for dlc. Very cool for ff

Could they perhaps finish making the game first before considering DLC? At this moment it sounds like they’re making a game but leaving stuff out of the finished product to sell as DLC – that is the worst sort of DLC and should not exist.

      The game is finished.
Even this very article mentions it is “out in Japan”.
I believe that means it is finished.

Why do people refer to DLC as “unfinished games”? The game is finished, DLC is just extra content in case you couldn’t get enough of the original game. There hasn’t been a single game where the final levels and the ending was unavailable until you bought the DLC.

Assassin’s Creed 2 was an egregious exception to this.
