GameFly Says People Wanted Batman More Than Modern Warfare 3 Or Skyrim

Picking the best games of the year always boils down to opinion, which always leads to dissension over subjectivity and bias. So while Kotaku‘s staffers rallied around Portal 2 as the site’s GOTY, readers held their own damn awards and anointed Skyrim as their standout title for 2011.

Gamefly subscribers, however, came down differently than either one of those groups. The video game rental service aggregated data from its GameQs — users’ queues of most-wanted releases — to generate Top 10 lists across various platforms.

The results? Batman: Arkham City placed high on every platform it was available for, landing at #1 for cross-platform and Xbox 360 and at #2 for PS3. Surprising no one, Uncharted 3 won out on PS3 and Super Mario 3D Land took the top spot on 3DS. The full lists follow below.

I really wanted Batman, Skyrim wasn’t even on my radar.. my how things have changed… Batman’s done and dusted (for now) but Skyrim’s been loaded in my xbox pretty much since release day! That’s quite a record.

This week I decided to unwrap and start playing Ass Creed Rev, which I bought when it released. I was saving it until I’d finished Skyrim, but 100 hours in, and I don’t think I’ll be done with Skyrim anytime soon :)

If doesn’t include PC, then the figures are skewed somewhat. Don’t know if its enough to make a difference though.

I think a lot of Elder scolls fans would realize that Skyrim isnt the type of game you can finish in 2 weeks or even a month and bought it,not to take anything away from Batman AC which was a great game. Also seems the prospect of missing out on the catwoman levels did’nt bother people.

People wanted to RENT batman because you could blow through it in a weekend, while people wanted to BUY Skyrim because it lasted forever, and MW3 because it was a multiplayer game.

Sometimes people don’t see the obvious
