Sony Closing BigBig Studios, Re-Structuring Cambridge Studios

Sony has announced that it will be closing the Leamington Spa-based BigBig Studios, the developers behind one of the PS Vita launch titles, Little Deviants.

The studio, best known for its Pursuit Force games for the PSP, is being closed as part of a review process that Sony is undertaking to restructure and re-distribute its resources. Along with the closure of BigBig Studios, Sony’s Cambridge studio will also be restructured to work closely with its Amsterdam studio, Guerilla, to bring the Killzone franchise to the PS Vita.

“BigBig have been an important part of SCE Worldwide Studios since joining in 2007,” read a statement made by Sony.

“However, it was felt that by focusing on other studios that are currently working on exciting new projects, we would be in a stronger position to offer the best possible content for our consumers.”

It is not known if the Cambridge studio restructure will result in job losses or what will happen to the developers at BigBig Studios.
