It’s the worst kind of surprise, and I feel bad because we just posted the new trailer. But it’s been confirmed — we won’t be seeing Aliens: Colonial Marines until September, at the earliest.
Game Informer managed to squeeze the unfortunate news out of Sega, the publisher stating the game will miss its autumn release and won’t be out until spring 2012. Here’s what it had to say:
“While setting clear goals, deadlines and predictions is helpful, they are often subjective. We don’t want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date.”
And by “say”, I mean waste air. Or electrons. Ah well… I suppose additional polish is good, but let’s not take any skin off, OK?

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:37 PMIt’s because G/Box want to make sure it has the same amount of polish Duke Nukem had…right?

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 4:49 PMThat’s not really true, when Gearbox got their hands on Duke Forever they ripped it to shreads.
ex-3DR employees have confirmed they cut half the levels of the game, changed several things including the appearance of the pigcops, the shotgun, vegas nighttime to daytime, removed the proper mp code, replaced their narrative with an awful one written by two womenf ull of dick jokes and numerous other things.
Gearbox is trying not to take the blame for ruining the game is all.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 6:21 PMI find it hard to believe that coming from 3D realms, The company that managed to not release the game after so many years
What is more likely is that 3D Realms saw how the game was not a success and said “yeah, wasn’t us” whereas if the game was critically acclaimed and sold really well they would be standing up saying “we pretty much had the game done and couldn’t get the cash together for the release, Gearbox just put on some final touches and got it to a publisher”
Seeing as gearbox has a track record of fantastic games and 3D realms has a track record for just about nothing in the last decade, I’m inclined to think it’s the second option.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 6:42 PMActually its both gearbox’s fault and its not their fault at the same time. all you have to do is go and look at the timeline that put in the actual game and they even states that the DNF game we currently have is completely different to the versions that we saw. DNF was made by a completely different company and gearbox decided to release it just so it was finally out.
Now on to A:CM i saw some gameplay a few months ago ( was some that sega showed at gamecon or something) and i was a underwhelmed by what i saw. I really feel like the game should be using the AVP: 2010 engine. I know that AVP 2010 was a hit and miss but the graphics and animation in that game were great and 10times better than what i saw of the A:CM game footage.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 3:55 PMIf they think it needs polish than getting time to do that can only be a good news.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 5:34 PMAll I want this is a game that does this franchise justice, if they need more time to do it – then so be it.

Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 8:21 PMThis is great! Now the Wii U has a chance of it being the better platform for this game.
(They first showed this game when they were saying the Wii U would get it, months after that they announced that it’s coming to current gen consoles before the Wii U is out.)

I hope the Wii U works out.

Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 11:35 PMI would love to see a ‘dead space style’ aliens game or something that revolves around horror and pacing, not just shooting stuff. I’ve been playing FPS based versions of the franchise since that old doom2 aliens mod in the late nineties and none of them have every really captured that feeling of terror or suspense or isolation that you feel in the in the movies. Also, for the record AVP was bleeping awful.

Monday, January 30, 2012 at 12:46 PMDelaying games is a hell of a lot better then releasing games that clearly need more work. You’d be surprised what an extra 6 months can do for a title.
Haters gonna hate, suck it up and go play something else in the mean time.
