The Occupy Movement Needs An Arcade Cabinet. Help It Get One.

The Oakland branch of the Occupy movement is moving off the streets and into an abandoned building later this week. In doing so, they get facilities like kitchens, meeting rooms, etc. All that’s missing is an arcade machine.

So Anna Anthropy wants to build them one. It’ll run on batteries, move on wheels and should end up as part of the Winnitron Indie Game Arcade Network, meaning it’ll play all kinds of awesome indie games.

The machine is to be called the OAK-U-TRON 201X, and contributors to the project’s Kickstarter-esque funding campaign will get stuff like coffee table books and, awesomely, their “name etched onto a metal plaque BY A LASER BEAM and bolted to the OAK-U-TRON 201X!!!!!!!”

Or maybe they could become productive members of society and pay for their own damn arcade machine?

I’m sorry, but there are better uses for my money than paying someone to buy an arcade machine. You know, like donating to charities that make a real difference to the world, rather than a bunch of students who don’t want to work at maccas.

You know who can afford arcade machines? The 1%

I miss the good old days when being mega rich was a goal, not a bad thing. Buying islands and having private jets. Those are all awesome things. Also, being the 1% also means you can do more good – Look at Bill Gates.

It’s funny, it’s a goal; but one that no one wants to do the hard work to get to.

I don’t think you guys really understand what the 1% is.

What’s there to understand? “The 1%” is the richest 1% of the American population. At least that’s what it used to be. Does it now mean something else?

How about Anna Anthropy gets this occupy movement a few sheets of medium density fiberboard, some plans, and a jigsaw and tools on loan and they can build themselves an arcade cabinet.
