I hope you’re enjoying your brand new PlayStation Vita! If you’re anything like me, you turned it on and enjoyed the refreshing, smooth sounds of the menu music. Then, about an hour later, you realised that it’s actually pretty mind-numbing and started to wish you could turn it off.
You’re in luck — it’s very easy to turn off the music that plays in the background on the Vita. Here’s how:
- Tap the green “Settings” icon.
- Tap on “Sounds & Display”
- Uncheck the box next to “System Music”
And presto! You are free to browse your Vita’s menus in peace and quiet.

My only problem is – how do I actually turn my Vita on to be able to turn the music off? Further, how do I actually open the box it came in? Some detailed illustrations would be nice!
