Protip: aluminium foil is only useful for protecting you from the mind-controlling radio signals sent out by the CIA. If you’re using it to shoplift games, all it does is attract the attention of the store manager.
Tabatha Edington, 23, of Prescott, Arizona, (pictured) just learned this the hard way. Cops say she tried to make off with nine new PlayStation 3 games by wrapping them in aluminium foil, presumably to defeat the scanners located at the store entrance.
Thing is, store managers are paid to notice things like people wrapping merchandise in aluminium foil and then putting them in a paper bag in her shopping cart. Cops met up with Edington, the two sides briefly embraced and now she is in the slammer.
Edington, who “yelled profanities and was uncooperative”, is looking at felony burglary charges, of all things, for stealing nine games valued at $US593.79. That’s an average price of $US65.97, meaning at least one was a special edition. My money’s on it being Madden NFL 12.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 8:49 AMAt least use a booster bag,a bag with at least 30 layers of foil lining the bag and creating a faraday cage.Never tried it but wrapping the games in foil is useless unless you use a whole 20M roll.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 2:47 PMDon’t video game stores only display the cases of the games, not with the actual games in them.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 7:55 PMSome do, some don’t and instead tag the boxes with security devices that trigger the gates at the entrance to the shop which is what the lady was trying to prevent. If you’ve ever been to JB, they use a little red strip inserted into the side of the boxes. Other places use stickers with a kind of metallic backing. Those ones are always fun because they often set off alarms at other stores.

Sunday, February 5, 2012 at 5:41 PMIt sounds to me like she read some of the anarchist’s cookbook shoplifting material but never got around to finishing the chapter. Protip: If you’re mobile phone has reception inside the bag it probably won’t be ery effective.
