Sketches Of PlayStation Orbis Features Surface, Then Disappear

The design firm Coque Design may have worked on illustrations for certain features of the next PlayStation, according to pictures a tipster spotted on its website today.

The pictures, which have since been removed from the site, were labelled "Illustrations & Sketches for new PlayStation Orbis features." Orbis is the codename for Sony's next gaming console, as Kotaku revealed today.

The photos depict several people moving around in front of some sort of Kinect-like motion-sensing device that rests on top of a television. One person is using what appears to be an iPhone or iPod to control music that may be linked to the game system as well.

We've reached out to Coques Design and we will update should we hear any further information.

Sounds to me like they're showcasing their ecosystem. Why all the implied "copying" of other products when they have their own already in market?

Looks like she's singing along to Singstar, maybe they're implying that streaming songs from the internet will take the place of traditional discs..? Maybe this is an implication of more gaming content streaming directly from the net ... Kinda looks like the two dotted lines are pointing towards the two people - maybe the "Kinect-style motion-sensing device" can put you into the game..? Maybe ...
Maybe we shouldn't look too far into this.

For my next-gen console buy, I will purchase the console that allows me to use my traditional controller and doesn't require me to purchase peripherals that I don't plan on using.

God knows it was a pain looking for a new X360 last year without spending an extra $150 for a kinect.

For people to publish, then pull the pictures would suggest they made a mistake in publishing them - or were asked to removed them. Im wondering if this Playstation 4 / Orbis is actually a real thing and it gathering some momentum?

The Kinext definately expanded the xbox360's life and I remember Sony filed that patent recently to have something similar. So maybe they are working on something......?

The eye toy needs to go however....

Hmmm, it looks like Sony is planning some kind of Guitar hero game - without the guitars!

    Games Journalism!

There's already a link with the PSP/?Vita to change and queue up tracks on Singstar - likely it's being expanded to phones.

dafuq is this? "Kinect-like motion-sensing device" - you mean an EyeToy? this could be a picture of me today with the PS3, PS EYE, Singstar and bluetooth keyboard on my phone... yaaaawwn..

i doubt PS4 wont be anything we havent seen before.

Lol! "Coque" design. Like "cock" right?

You'd certainly look like a cock playing a singstar style game that super imposes your image onto a background of stars.

"Orbis is the codename for Sony’s next gaming console, as Kotaku revealed today."

Yeah, I still call bull until I see an official announcement. The last leak of information on a fourth gen console was completely off.

It bothers me that the "that Kotaku linked today" link links to a US site article.
    Someone fix this!

that camera on top of the tv is called the 'Playstation Eye' which was released in early 2003. Which is in NO way a copy of the kinect.

wait one sec woops the release date was 2007
