Responding to an earlier report on website Startup Grind, which claimed between 500-1000 employees would be laid off soon, EA has said “There are no lay-offs as such, we always have projects growing and morphing”. More at the update in the original story.

There doesn’t appear to be any update in any articles…. (?)
What was that other gem of corporatespeak? “Reprioritising our workforce structure”?

I checked the US Site (don’t even make me do that again).
*Their* original story was updated, ours was not. Here’s the text you were missing out on.UPDATE – EA has issued a statement on the matter, telling MCV “There are no lay-offs as such, we always have projects growing and morphing. At any given time there are new people coming in and others leaving. EA is growing and hiring and building teams to support the growing demand for digital games and services.”
While I was over there, I noticed we’ve got some absolutely unrelated articles coming up, one about a japanese invention for the modest woman who doesn’t want their cleavage to be seen (GUESS WHO?) and another about a japanese serial killer who fooled her victims online about her appearance or something (GUESS WHO?).
Let’s pray we don’t see either of these on our blessed AU site.

Thanks for that, I figured it was on the US site but I couldn’t be bothered spending three hours trying to figure out their layout.

EA denies layoffs, but then again, THQ said everything was fine right until they were de-listed. I seriously doubt EA’s position is as bad as THQ was. But companies denying layoff rumours are nothing new.

No lay offs they just decided to stop paying them and let the problem take care of itself.
