“Graphics power [will] catch up with — and perhaps even exceed — the capabilities of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.” — Richard Leadbetter, veteran hardware analyst for Eurogamer, on the state of smartphone and tablet graphics in the coming year.

In relation to that, that's because things like the iPad see yearly released, I'd much rather have slightly worse graphics than have to buy a brand new console every year, hell if consoles went that route I'd frankly be done with them, my PC is cheaper, and more effective to upgrade yearly.

Also, "catching up" to hardware that's approximately 6 years old really isn't that impressive an achievement.

agreed. look at the top of the range ipad too. cost is on par to a the price of the xbox 360 and ps3 when they initially came out. not everyone can afford to do that. if consoles went that direction (which they certainly wouldn't) i would become a PC gamer. its easier to keep ahead of the handheld graphics with upgrades that cost less than them every year.
its a different experience though, like comparing apples and oranges. yes that are fruit but thats about it

Goddamnit, I really do hope they allow used games next generation. Also, if the PSN gets stripped down and the PS4 has a no -used games policy then I'm definitely switching over next gen.

The free version of PSN already provides online play and not much else. All the other stuff like cloud saves, auto patching / updating etc are already PS+ aren't they? Hard to see what they currently have in the free PSN that they could "strip out". Pachter has his head up his arse. As usual.
