Continuing an internal reorganisation that has seen casual titles tossed out in favour of a focus on more core video gaming titles, THQ has jettisoned its ValuSoft division. ValuSoft, per its name, was the publisher’s “value” label, which is a polite term for shovelware that grandmas bought their grandkids at discount stores.
Another budget software company, Cosmi, picked up ValuSoft, reports MCV. THQ had acquired ValuSoft about a decade ago. With the acquisition, Cosmi, said MCV, now claims to be the second largest publisher for the PC platform in North America.
In a statement, THQ chief Brian Farrell said that, following the sell off “our internal resources are now focused on our core video game portfolio where we can drive the highest quality performance and execution for our games”.
