Live-Action Halo 4 Web Series Will Bring Master Chief To Real Life

Microsoft may have derailed the Halo movie, but that won’t stop the publisher from bringing Master Chief to glorious live-action this year. Microsoft will launch a web-series called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn this fall, Variety reports today.

The live-action series, composed of five 15-minute instalments that will air on the networks Machinima and Halo Waypoint, will tell a story about Master Chief inspiring a young UNSC cadet who goes on to become a leader on the UNSC Infinity spacecraft. The cadet and his story will tie into the plot of Halo 4, which will be out for Xbox 360 on November 6.

The goal is to get non-Halo fans into the first-person shooter series, developer 343 Industries’ Matt McCloskey told Variety. “We wanted to do something unique from a narrative standpoint that’s big in scale,” he said. “We wanted to… transform this live-action exploration from advertising into a full standalone product that people will enjoy.”

In other words, it had better be good. We’ll hear more about Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn at Comic Con this summer.
