Nolan North, The Man In Every Video Game Ever Made, Is Now In Star Trek

I can’t remember the last time I played a game that didn’t feature Nolan North’s ‘everyman’ tones. With his invasion of video games complete, he’s now moving on to blockbuster movies, featuring in JJ Abram’s Star Trek 2. Apparently Abrams and his son are massive fans of Uncharted, and that’s why he got the part.

“I just worked on Star Trek 2 with J. J. Abrams,” North told Eurogamer.

“The reason I did that movie – it’s a very small role – but it’s because he and his son are huge fans of Uncharted. I met him doing some work on Super 8 and he said ‘We’re doing Start Trek, you wanna do it?’ And I said I’d love to.

“He’s a huge fan of gaming and he was telling me how people just don’t understand [the medium] yet, but they’re going to catch up. They don’t understand how amazing this technology is and it doesn’t get the respect it deserves, but if it keeps making the money it makes you’re going to see more and more people converted.”

This is interesting, for a number of reasons. Comic book movies never really took off until they were helmed by directors that truly understood the IP they were dealing with. It’s becoming more and more apparent that some directors are major video game fans. This may result in a decent video game to movie adaptation…

Anyway — it’s a top interview by Eurogamer, and it’s well worth heading there for the rest of it!
