I immediately thought Space Quest as well.
Damn it! I actually got this one. The very first scene in the game. This was the first game I ever played on our first family PC -- a 286. I remember starting it up and thinking "what the heck is this?" Come to think of it, it was also my introduction to adventure games -- and I've never looked back! :)
