Hitman’s E3 trailer, which showed a squad of sexy ladies dressed as nuns being slowly and methodically beaten to a pulp, created a bit of stir.
So much so that the developers of the game, IO Interactive, have apologised for its content.
“We’re sorry that we offended people — that was truly not the intention of the trailer,” IO’s Tore Blystad told IGN.
“Of course we understand, this has been a very big topic for us and we’ve been reading as much as we could of the articles and responses. We were surprised that it turned into such a huge topic. Something similar happened with our Sniper Challenge pre-order bonus… We just wanted to make something cool, it wasn’t the intention to stir up anything.”
And there you have the reason I didn’t like it. This is what they thought was cool? When people want someone to blame for the dire content in so many blockbusters, you sometimes have to stop pointing fingers at “evil” marketing and “stupid” publishers and sometimes point them at the people actually making the game.

Morality exits in social human interaction, it should not be the same for games we play, or the fiction books we read, because this is the realm of make believe, i.e sluty nuns who are trying to kill a hitman.
Also think the Witcher, awesome game why? because its sexy, fantasy, magic and killing, what all we people that play these games want.
if on the other hand you want a HITMAN simulator, then i say, you may need psych counseling that you would like to experience reality from afar, real hitman, dont play games called HITMAN, the reason is rather simple, real killing is nothing like gameing, and the emotional empression is absolutley mind altering, fragging in games gets you reved up not mind altered for life and hence a real hitman would not play HITMAN so the need for simulator like qualities is mute, unless you are a budding psych patient wating to happen.
Simple indisputable fact, based on the evidence of all fantasy based games we love that they are unreal, we just want there graphics to be as real as possible not there story-lines.
I.e Harry Potter loved by kids and adults, because it was unreal but graphically was as real as possible.
It's not just about the violence directed at women, it's also the blatant objectification - especially the impracticality of the six inch stilettos and skin-tight leather bikinis when you're out to kill someone. If it were male assassin's dressed up similarly that then this trailer should have all the applause. But this trailer as is is playing into every negative stereotype we should be long over by now. Shame on you, developers.
So when are six inch stilettos practical then?
A fashion show, maybe? :/
The trailer, like the series it is advertising, is pulpy-schlock, but don't take that the wrong way, I love it, Hitman has been one of my favourite game series for an age.
This trailer is moronically over the top. However it's "objectification" is only as bad as any shitty romance/sexy book or novella Jane-average reads. Every time Mr Darcy takes his shirt off the ladies get all a fluster, it's all just getting jollies in a different way.
If you are seriously offended by the above trailer; you should be ashamed of your pathetically sensitive and ridiculous self.
The hitman games have along tradition of releasing controversial media regarding there game.Typically there has been a bigger outcry because of advertising about the franchise than people were actually upset about the content of the game.
Initially I took the trailer as yet another sign that this Hitman game was basically the nail in the coffin for my interest in the franchise... and then I remembered the magazine ads for Hitman 2... "beautifully executed" and whatnot... yeah... Hitman games have had some pretty horrible marketing all along. :-P
