According to a report on movie site Bloody Disgusting, the upcoming Mortal Kombat film will follow the exploits of a “lowly unlucky supermarket employee”.
“With Kevin Tancharoen still attached to direct from Oren Uziel’s screenplay”, the site writes, “we’ve exclusively discovered that the live-action reboot will follow a lowly unlucky supermarket employee who discovers that he has out of this world powers and must decide between good and evil, even though the evil side has helped him discover his true potential and who he really is.”

There's can be a lot of rage pent up inside a "lowly supermarket employee" and this concept worked out fine for Wanted, except that he was a "lowly office employee" which is ultimately irrelevant where he worked, just that he worked in a menial, low paying job where everyone piled crap on him

it's widely accepted that styker is the most useless character in the entire mk world... most people hate him enough to prefer meat over him. if they make a movie with stryker as the protagonist, the entire mk community will just refuse to see it... and considering that the mk community would be the vast majority of people going to see this anyway, it would put a substantial dent into whatever profits the producers are hoping to make...
This is bullshit the plot needs to be rewritten so I hope the plot changes before the filming starts
