Nintendo Calls New 3DS Report 'Speculation' And Incorrect

This morning in Japan, respected newspaper Nikkei ran a story that said Nintendo would be unveiling a new 3DS. According to the Nikkei, the new 3DS would have a 4.3-inch screen, which is far larger than the current model's 3.02-inch screen, and it could go on sale as early as this (northern) summer.

The report also claims that the Wii U will be priced at around ¥30,000 ($390).

Nintendo issued a statement regarding the Nikkei piece, calling it a "speculative article", saying it contained numerous errors and the report had not been confirmed.

Nintendo closed its statement by adding it will be holding a presentation at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles on July 6.

This isn't the first time Nintendo has denied reports published by the Nikkei. The last time Nintendo did it, however, the Nikkei's report was spot on.

After Nintendo's E3 press conference, we'll once again know who was making things up.

yeah, looks like there's a new 3ds then. bigger screen is a surprise, what about battery life?

Bigger screen, bigger case, more room for a bigger battery. Sounds like it would be the same or better.

And if they release it, it'll have a circle pad on it for sure.
It's Nintendo, there will be a 3DS 2.0 but when is the all important question.

I'm glad I got the DS lite over the Original, I never felt the need to upgrade to the XL or DSi. If I had an Original 3DS (I want it, just need more money) I think I would upgrade for a built in circle pad.

Price seems off, specially when the 3ds had a hundred buck price drop so soon

      Try reading again ;)

can has new 3ds please. Dont forget the second slidepad ninty <3

I hope they're right, if they are i'm buying on launch day.

Hmmmmm, I'm looking forward to Nintendo's e3 presentation on July 6th too... I wonder if I'll be the only one attending?

I would love a larger 3DS, because when ever I have used the current one it feels cramped in my hands. Which would mean I would feel uncomfortable playing for extended periods!

I thought Nintendo didn't comment on rumour or speculation?

Im so glad i held off !

So not a 3DS XL, so maybe a 3DS Lite with built in second circle pad? I'd buy that.
