Bish is going to the doctors today for some surgery. Lets all pray to the bacon gods that he comes out of it alive GULP
But seriously he is getting wisdom teeth out today.
Aww, good luck Bishy! *hugasaurus*
Getting a normal tooth pulled was bad enough. Bish isn't going to be able to bish for a while after this. That makes me sad.
Ah, man. That sucks. Was only about five weeks back I got three out. Doesn't hurt all that much, just a whole lot of discomfort. KFC gravy is your friend!
Not so wise now, are ya Bish?
But seriously, ouch D: Get some drugs up ya.
Good luck Bish. Make sure you make the most of having those holes in your gums. Once the stitches heal, they're fun to roll your tongue around... but they don't last long!!
Good luck to you Bish!
I eagerly await the drug addled puns that are sure to come post surgery.
But seriously, hope he feels better soon.
Good luck Bosch!
I have removed the band-aid from my finger and can type semi-normally again.
Also brain wrinkles, I have them.
Got a rude shock when I checked my bank balance yesterday. Turns out having a baby is expensive. No one told me.
Anyway, I have prohibited any new-game purchases. This is unfortunate, as Shuggy looks really interesting. And I am playing Gemini Rue and loving it and want to go get Resonance and Blackwell. Good timing for Shameless Gaming Month though. I think the next game I buy will be RE6 or Dishonored.
So, Pile of Shame post:
Gemini Rue
Dead Space 2
Doom 3 (really)
Skyrim
Bioshock 2
Mass Effect 2
Resident Evil 4
Assassin's Creed 2
Rage
GTA IV
Deus Ex HR
Dragon Age
Syberia
Syberia was nice enough, but lacked interactivity. I missed being able to look at things and have Kate comment on the world. Still a damn fine game, though, with an artsy but cool sort of story. Deus Ex was my game of the year for 2011, can't recommend it enough. In fact there's fun to be had in all those games you mentioned.
Kate? As in, The Longest Journey? I've got that too but for some reason like Syberia a lot more.
Never mind, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Just looked on Wikipedia. Yeah, it's been a while since I've played these.
Ah, April Ryan my friend. :D
McGarnical, I feel your pain. Do you have Space Pirates and Zombies? I can send you the code, penniless future father to penniless future father.
Very nice of you to offer, Shane! I'll politely pass, as I have looked at the game and although it looks interesting I think it wouldn't be for me.
I've got Doom 3 on my list as well. I bought it during a Steam sale but never ended up playing past the first level. I might wait until the HD version comes out and then just play through that.
If I were you I'd play through Deus Ex HR first. It's an amazing game.
I WAS NOT AWARE OF A HD VERSION WAS IN THE MAKING TILL NOW... I LOVE DOOM 3
It looks pretty sweet.
Yes, they do :P
Though we bought a heap of cloth nappies, so much cheaper than constantly using disposables. My girlfriend also knits a lot of things.
Most of the other stuff was given to us anyway, crazy grandmas.
I bought a heap of cloth nappies before my first kid was born. But then it was way too much work to try and wash them all the time. Babies go through a ton of nappies each day and I was struggling just to take care of the baby, let alone do all the washing. So for me, the extra expense of disposables was completely worth it.
But the cloth nappies still came in very handy for keeping around in case of babyvomit, and also for laying the baby on when you're changing nappies. I always kept at least one in my bag when we went out anywhere.
We got these sort: http://snappynappy.com.au/images/modern-cloth-nappies-purple-hip-snap.jpg
So much easier just snap them on, and it's just a removable insert in the middle. My girlfriend actually likes washing (don't ask me why, but I'm not complaining)
We bought modern cloth nappies, which worked from about 3 months of age to about 2 years, but always kept disposables on hand as well. Disposables are better at dealing with nappy rash, as they are more absorbent, and they are easier to take out with you and when you go on holidays.
We usually use disposable overnight, as you only have to change it once or twice.
Cloth ones need changing as soon as they are filled pretty much.
Ah yes, this too. There are very few MCNs (terminology!) that can handle a full night.
That's not the half of it either. I forgot to add Halo Anniversary and ODST. And I've got Diablo 3, Battlefield 3 and CoD to distract me too.
So I really don't think I actually need any new games, to be honest!
So, I'm in a bit of a rut. Someone complained about my Stewie Griffin shirt design, (based on the one in Matthew Reilly's book) and it was taken down.
I don't mind that too much, but I was told that if I gave a counter argument that I would be held in court in the USA. Now, I think this is a bit excessive, seeing as I made maybe $40 from it. Like I said the issue isn't taking it down, it's the suing that freaks me out. I also took down it's sister artwork as well.
This isn't the first time this has happened to me. I drew Rex the dog, the owner complained, I took it down.
I'm thinking that I should remove all my artworks, especially fan art. The idea of being sued is terrifying and it's not worth the extra $20 I get maybe every 6 months if I'm lucky.
Yeah thats always freaks me out, i left a bill unpaid for a while because i dodn't recieve any notice of it. I knew the bill should have been coming but i never saw it. 6 months goes by and i got a letter from a debt collection company that was like, WHERES MY MONEY I WILL BREAK YOUR LEGS (or something to that effect) i paid the bill straight away but it still freaked me the hell out. Taking down your art that you believe has copy write infringed is probably the best idea.
Yeah i just had a small panic attack over it. Mainly because if I'm sued in America, they don't have legal aid, I'd be screwed.
But pretty much everything that sells probably infringes copy wright in one way or another.
So I'm considering just contacting Redbubble and requesting my account be destroyed.
If a debt collector actually threatens you like that, you can complain to the police. That's way beyond what they're allowed to do legally.
That sucks, well I for one like your work and I am now very glad I got the squishy shirt when I did.
Thanks, I'm glad you got it as well. Especially because the quote may also be copy wright infringement >_<
Trademarks are tricky. Fan art is generally okay but making a profit from it means you run the risk of getting a legal slap in the face.
Yeah, I know. But it's really frustrating because I know there are others out there making a massive profit from fanart, where as I don't make that much.
I think the general policy is that they (they being everyone from the shirt distributors to the studio who owns the IP) will let it go until someone brings it to their attention, and then they are pretty much legally obliged to act upon it.
It can be a fine line. Sometimes if you give more than a nod and a wink that it is the character, even if it is abundantly clear what the drawing is of, you'll get hunted down.
I don't think you should destroy your account yet. Maybe this incident will encourage you to make your own original works. Stick with your account for the rest of the year and try developing your own unique stuff. See how it's received and if no one bites then you can move on.
My original stuff is pretty much ignored.
I got a cease and desist from Universal Studios a few years back putting together a not-for-profit DVD comemmorating Joss Whedon's Serenity publicity tour of Australia.
Here's another semi-relevant example from that time that I wasn't involved with: http://whedonesque.com/comments/11688
It was a pretty ugly thing.
Bloody hell. It is ugly and terrifying.
Yep. From what I've seen they rely on intimidation more than anything, and I wouldn't expect any trouble, especially given that you've only made a handful of dollars. It would cost them 100x that much to try to recoup that from you, so they probably won't bother unless you kick up a stink.
That said, if you do provoke them, they have the resources to bury you. I advise rolling over and laying low.
If you want to feel better, you could always report other people for copyright infringement, might increase the market for your original stuff :)
Don't worry, I'm rolling over.
I'm pretty easily intimidated. Very easily in fact.
http://www.redbubble.com/people/luckydog
The original stuff is the paintings, animals and zombies.
But it's understandable too, tbh.
The Serenity one was a bit of an overreaction, because there was no Firefly/Serenity merchandise out at that time (though there is now). But when marketing relies on a very specific look and/or set of images being pushed onto the public, any other prominent work (famous fanart for example) can muddy the marketing plan, and might affect the bottom line.
In addition to that, in your case, there is a lot of official Family Guy stuff out there that your work is pretty much directly competing with. If you're not a licensed vendor, then they do have a right to seek recourse for lost sales.
I can send them the $40 if they want. That's all I made (It might actually be less)
I wouldn't offer that off the bat, but it's good to have it up your sleeve :P
Seriously, I wouldn't worry about this - you took the shirt down, it's what they wanted. In their mind, I'm sure it's resolved.
You know what's annoying.... Plant's Vs Zombies Merchandise. Until very recently there was never any officially licensed stuff so it was all crappy knockoffs. So not only do you not get official merch, you have to put up with crappy quality.
I wonder if any of the companies making T-shirts, toys and plushies ever got in trouble from popcap.
Yep, you've got to be real careful when it comes to copy righted stuff. It's easier just to stay on the safe side and not copy anyone's work at all if you intend to profit off it. Or you can always move to China and copy other peoples work until your hearts content.
No one buys any of my original stuff. That's why I wasn't going to leave it on there if I took the copy righted stuff done.
Did you make the image used from scratch?
Yes, I just used a reference photo but I drew it from scratch. I have the grey lead outline somewhere
Where is Chuloopa?
Probably partying since he finished his exams :P
I noticed that too, i havent seen him on TAY or twitter, i hope he is mmkay.
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/06/kfc-australia-wants-to-bring-back-the-double/
Yes, DEAR GODS YES!!!
Hah, I might one day try it afterall
You won't need a oil change for a while at least.
lol, that's the plan ;)
I missed it the first time. But I won't Like KFC just for the chance. There's a Facebook principle at stake.
Ditto
Not sure if want.
Those things were so amazing.
Agreed!
This news has just made my day. :)
I've been meaning to ask this on TAY for a while now but forgot, and have lost some of the details. But here goes.
My parents received a letter (I haven't seen it, but it was summarised to me over the phone) and it said something along these lines. We have detected a virus on your computer. If you do not install our anti-virus software, we will suspend your internet access. It gives a web address for Optus Internet Security Suite. That software looks legit (http://www.optus.com.au/home/digital-life/internet-security/) but the rest reads like some sort of scam. Also it's weird to push their own software. Surely any antivirus should be OK, and also also, what do they care if you get a virus? And how do they know? I don't get it. Any thoughts?
I'd say it's a scam. They can't detect a virus on your computer. And they'd never contact you, you have to contact them.
Leave it go and if they suspend your internet, then sign up with someone else. They don't deserve the business.
I would say it's definitely a scam though.
But if it's a scam, it's a scam by Optus. That's some A Current Affair stuff right there.
They won't view it, you'll get drowned out by "Rag on rival show" stories and "Plugging their own channel's programming" stories, not to mention "Humans screwing over other humans, SHOCK HORROR with slow motion shots of the guy with evil music in the background" stories or "
Who are we sponsored by to tell you what product is 'best for you'Research on what is the best quality product for a certain task".They should not just sign up. If they think they've been infected and their current AV isn't picking it up, it's worth getting a computer technician in to take a look. They should also call Optus directly and talk to someone there about it. They should also check the terms of service for the internet plan they're on, and take a look at the circumstances under which Optus can cancel their net access.
It definitely sounds fishy.
Whirlpool thread.
Sounds dodgy but I think what happened is that they signed up for a free trial of the software through Optus and now Optus is being rather shitty about things.
It'd be nice to know the exact contents of the letter, but I imagine that a call to Optus customer service to opt out of their virus protection scheme would be the best solution.
+ 1, I'd call them up first before doing anything and get it officially confirmed
Yeah, and then don't install the Droptus software because $7/mo. for F-Secure is 100% not worth it.
Sounds like a scam.
If your parents PC already has anti-virus software installed then they should be fine.
There are plenty of free virus software out there, if you are concerned about it I would install one of them and see if it can find a virus.
Before installing anything based on that letter I would be calling optus directly and asking to speak to somebody about it. I believe that the ISP is able to detect if your PC has become part of a botnet so that may be part of what is going on.
If it is just a scare tactic from optus to get your folks to pay additional $7 a month and there is not actually any virus then it could be illegal
Thanks team!
Friday seems to be my depressive day. Last week I was miserable and today is the same. Gah, it doesn't help that I'm not well so I can' really just go out for a walk.
Maybe I should buy a game, I guess that might cheer me up.
You wanna talk buddy, you has my cheezbugrer i mean my email. I am bored so i am available to chat with.
"I am bored so i am available to chat with"
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Sorry Rockets, but that sounded so much like one of those late night ads I started laughing so hard I had people staring from the corridor.
But seriously, it's a shame your feeling depressed scree, however game buying is always a good idea, so commence the retail therapy!
I know but I'll have a bigger pile of shame. A much bigger pile of shame D=
Stand proudly by your pile of shame and accept it like a badge of honour.
Besides, new game, new game, new game!!!!!
That actually made me laugh.
I still have to ask Mum if it's alright though. I think she'll be annoyed but will let me because I'm down.
If in doubt, puppy dog eyes!
And don't forget to have your bottom lip tremble a little.
You'll find his rates very reasonable. Unfortunately, the reflect the quality of the service provided :p
It's just what happened up above. It's just made me feel so depressed.
I am considering getting SH Downpour to perk myself up, but I really can't afford it. I could borrow savings money until i get paid, but then I'd probably feel guilty >_<
A survival horror game to cheer up? You and I have very different ways to raise our spirits :P
Yeah, I was about to say...that's a very interesting way of cheering up! Hahaha
It's less about the game I'm buying and more about the actual buying of the game.
New game excitement I think
Nah, I completely understand what you mean. Just musing on the particular game of choice here. :P
Survival horror is my favourite genre though.
Survival horror five o/
Group survival horror high five o/ \o/ \o
\o o/ High fives all round
Wait, murdering things doesn't cheer you up Techy? I thought death to all humans was something a robot dreamt of though! Or maybe just Bender from Futurama.
I buy stuff when i am depressed, i ussually buy comics it fills the void for a few hours but it comes back. I think you need to stop getting down on yourself all the time. I think your little insecurities about this stuff and other stuff needs to be addressed if you wanna stop being so down all the time. I am here if you need to talk and i promise i wont yell at you this time.
I see a psychologist once a month. She's trying to help with my self esteem issues. It's going to take a while though unfortunately.
I think I know what you mean. I find immersing myself in an environment that is significantly worse makes everything so much better. Lone Survivor is an excellent survival-horror game if you want a cheaper one than SH Downpour. Also Dead Space is usually pretty cheap on Steam and it's amazing.
I can send you a steam key for Lone Survivor if you want. Also comes with Super Meat Boy and Braid. I got the key in the Humble Bundle and don't need it as I own the games already.
Only if you don't need it. Alpha was going to buy me Lone survivor in the summer sales.
I already have super meat boy though.
It's completely up to you.
Sent you a DM on twitter with the key
:)
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Given the general consensus on Downpour's quality, you might be less depressed if you don't buy it.
Yeah I heard bad stuff but it can't be any worse then Homecoming
Buying games / movies is always the best way to get rid of the blues. In all honesty I don't really think its actually the game / movie it's more of the feeling of "buying" the product and now you own it which is the best feeling.
I totally is. It's the buying part.
Cracked did an article. The buying of new games can actually be addictive.
It is addictive. /o\
My pile of shame will confirm that. :P
So will mine /o\
I will hopefully get everything on my Darkadia soon
Retail therapy! \o/
Ok, here is THE ULTIMATE CHEERING UP THING THAT WILL 100% PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE
Rocketman's Facebook display picture.
That's a good one, Rockets says he doesn't have Facespace!
Hi guys,
I got infamous 2 from this month's PS+ offerings and I'm enjoying it so far. One thing though, I can't access the user generated missions. Every time I log in I get a server communication error. My internet connection is fast enough so my question is, has Sucker Punch disabled the servers?
Have any of you played the game lately and were you able to play or create a user generated mission?
I'm also getting similar problems with the festival of blood DLC.
Thanks.
I would test it, but I'm at work. :(
Do they have a twitter account? I'd message them there.
Done. It's sometimes easy to forget how easy it is to contact companies these days.
That being said, I doubt they'll reply soon so if anyone has any experience I'd love some info.
It worked for me about three weeks ago, but I haven't tried since I started playing Dark Souls.
I was on it very briefly on, like, Monday, I think, and I seemed to connect to it fine. I'll admit I wasn't paying attention to the messages, but I'm quite sure I didn't see anything about server communication errors.
I'm at home and I can try it out if you really need an answer ASAP. It's a launch disc though and I've never put in the PS3 so I'm sure there'll be lots of updates that I'll have to download first :P
If you don't mind, that would be good.
I can create my own missions, it's just accessing other people's missions that's the problem. And that's the important stuff because I doubt I'll be interested in my own missions.
Alrighty I'll have a look now. I've never played the game but I assume you want to know whether I can access and play the user-created levels?
Ok so it's currently updating inFamous 2. It says 1/4 and 100mb but I'm not sure if it's 100mb for all 4 updates or just for one of them but I won't be able to check for a while. I'll give you an update when I can :)
@scree
I posted above about your redbubble issue but you may have missed it.
I was wondering if the stewie griffin shirt was drawn by you or did you use someone elses artwork?
There are a few people who seem to think it's okay to use pictured they found on the net (Sometimes with slight tweaking, but not enough to make it original) and sell it for their own profit.
If you created the image from scratch, then it seems a little much.
Then again, Family Guy is a FOX show... So maybe not. They're not exactly the friendliest of corporations.
I responded so I did see it.
I made it from scratch. I have grey lead drawings in one of my art books of it.
Then sadly it's probably just down to Fox's aggresive lawyers. Your other stuff should be fine.
And don't worry about the legal threat. As you don't live in the US and I seriously doubt they would/could extradite you to face charges in the US, you would never face court there. Even if you did, of course America has legal aid. The fourth part of the Miranda Rights as read in every movie/show about cops is they have the right to have a attorney and if they cannot afford one, an attorney will be provided.
Anyway, most cease and desists never go that far. Even when ignored. It's just scare mongering.
Yes, but that’s criminal law. Fairly sure Miranda rights don’t apply to civil suits, which this would probably be.
Elsewise, though, I agree with whtat you've said. This matter is closed in their minds.
I realised this when it was too late :P . I think they still have Legal Funds you can apply for though.
Point is moot really as there is no way they'd take her to the US to go to court.
Some lawyers go way to far to protect their clients IP
Thanks for the reassurances Doc What?
Someone in our complex is blasting John Paul Young's Love is in the Air.
If you aren't singing along we aren't friends anymore.
It's part of my shower repertoire (although I know 2% of the lyrics)
Now they're playing What About Me!?
I think it's the original Moving Pictures version.
I know
"love is in the air, everywhere i look around, i don't know if i am being foolish, i don't know if i am being wise, but it is something i must believe in and its there when i look in your eyes"
Motion picture version is pretty good, don't know if it is my favourite though.
I watched Predators last night at Blaghmans insistence because I'd never seen it, yet I have it in my Blu-ray collection. It was better than I thought it would be and I actually enjoyed it.
Sure the characters were just cardboard cutouts that probably should've just had numbers slapped on them letting us know the order they would die
Anyone familiar with Predator will figure out where the story is going to end up ahead of time, but the film still manages to hold interest by having a few...unpleasant moments
Adrien Brody and his nose were a decent action hero, even if he has gone to the Christian Bale school of dialogue delivery. The cameo from Laurence Fishburne, while short, was effective.
Some solid action scenes and the effects were good as well. I like that they seem to have gone for the "if you can do it practical, do it practical" approach.
So yeah, overall a solid movie and a sequel worth of the original.
Good film. I enjoyed it too.
I thought it was alright. Not sure I liked the whole Predator civil war thing they mentioned. I liked listening to the Directors commentary afterwards. That had some interesting stuff in it, like how that flying thing the Predators used was supposed to be like a hunting Hawk.
I'm surprised you didn't expect it to be good.
I'm not sure I'd rate it as a worthy sequel but definitely enjoyable - better than AvP:R (man that thing was not worth going through a movie marathon for...)
Predators was way better than any other movie in the Predator series. I mean, the first one is a classic, but Predators was much better written & was actually suspenseful at times.
The second was just stuipd.
AvP 1 & 2 arent even worth mentioning.
Though, the original script for Predators had a much better ending :
The survivors defeat the remaining predators.... then they start questioning how they're gonna get off the planet.
While they're standing there, they get lit up by dozens of the Pred's laser pointer things.
Then a whole bunch of Pred's uncloak, surrounding em.
The leader of the pack steps forward, and begins to remove his mask... revealing Arnie!
He says something witty & roll credits.
That would have been AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I
wantneed to see thatunfortunately, Arnie didn't want to get involved coz at the time he was a 'respectable' politician. so the ending was re-written to what was filmed...
Curse you Flu, all I can think about now is KFC!
My half a ham and cheese sandwich just doesn't seem as appealing as before :(
Is the bread component of your sandwich actually fried chicken? Because if so my friend I think you'll find you're way ahead of the game.
If not then... bummer.
(Think I might go to KFC today...)
And order what, a glass of water and a 1/3 of a piece of lettuce from a burger.
Even the water is deep fried! :P
Mmm, two zinger burgers with bacon, throw away the buns and lettuce, then put the zingers together... this may have some potential.
My PCCG package had a plush Mario head in it, unexpectedly.
O.o
Are the "Ninty Mafia" trying to extort some kind of protection money out of you?
That made me lol so much, ahh nobshot you are awesome :)
Severed Mario head in your mail... It's amazing how far they go.
HAHA!
Or perhaps it was an offering. Since it was sent to me at work. At Microsoft.
I think it’s starting to hit home that in a few days, I have to let someone cut my wife’s guts open with a huge knife and I’m supposed to do nothing.
Shoot, first.
It will be okay mang, cesarian sections are kind of the norm these day.
Really? I've never had one.
._. Maybe there's something wrong with me.
When we have our baby, you can have one then.
\o/
That is pretty hardcore.
It's quite nerve wracking.
My girlfriend had a bit of a reaction to all the drugs too, and was shaking violently.
Also I heard them saying something about watching her blood loss and she had already lost a litre. I was like D:
Though I should note, I was probably a little more stressed than normal, since it wasn't planned to be done that way.
NOT HELPING
You'll be okay. For you, it's really just the same no matter how she gives birth. Something is happening to your wife that will cause her a great deal of pain and you have no control over it. The only thing you do have control over is how you support your wife at this time. And I'm sure you'll be great at that part so don't stress too much. :)
Yeah, I found the best thing I could do was not stress, that would have made matters worse.
We really get the easy job :)
Yes, but birth is a natural thing, I can deal with that. A shiny knife wielded by someone else is a different matter entirely :P
It doesn’t feel the same. Like you said, it's kind of nightmarishness.
SMILEY :)
SMILEY :)
Was that her choice though?
We were considering it after the trauma of the first birth, but in the end the decision was taken away from us by a wonderful condition called placenta previa, which means that the placenta is blocking the fire stairs. Emergency exit is the only way out now.
But isn't it what she chose? Or do you want to be the one wielding the knife? :P
And birth may be a natural thing but it sure as hell doesn't feel natural.
Even though I can remember exactly what it felt like when my son was born and I have some other problems that arose from actually pushing two kids out, I wouldn't change it for someone cutting me open. For me, that's nightmare material.
DEFINITELY NOT HELPING
See above. :) *hug*
Really gotta start putting smilies on everything :)
:)
Dont stress mate.
Caesareans have been going on for ages, so the techniques has been pretty much perfected.
Not to mention that the surgical staff doing it are experienced professionals & are good at what they do.
C-sec's also apparently lead to a shorter recovery time.
& as a bit of anecdotal evidence, of the four kids my parents had, I was the only natural birth. the other three guys were c-sec & everything went 100% smoothly.
I'm sure everything will be fine :)
I’m sure too. Thanks. I was just bored and wanted something dramatic to post. Also, from a purely sociological viewpoint, I think it will interesting to see how I handle having to suppress my instincts to protect my woman from sharp weapon like things.
I didn't see anything. There was a curtain up and I was sitting next to my girlfriend's head.
So unless you try to take a peek, you don't really see anything :P
and from what I've heard from friends / friends partners who have had c-sec's, is that they really encourage you to not take a peek.
But what's the point if you don't get to see innards!*
*I don't really want to see innards I just love the word 'innards' and wanted a chance to say it. :P
C-Sec?
Garrus is going to deliver your baby?
After he's done with the calibrations obviously
Then he calibrates your baby
My mum had c-section for all three of us and she said the worst part is the nightmarish hallucinations. Perhaps you should get your wife to write 'em down, fodder for future writing works? :P (In all seriousness, I'm sure it'll go well. Good luck man and congrats!)
As the doctor...
*hugs*
My advice is, if you're in the room, look into your wife's eyes and hold her hand. She needs you there to be strong for her and to talk to her. She's trusting that you'll be there and you're protecting her by being there and supporting her.
Morning and/or afternoon TAY!
Awesome Borderlands fun last night!
Been playing around with Darkadia and I think (overall) that I like it for the purposes of Shameless Gaming Month. It'd be nice to have a bit more (read: any) community focus as part of the site, but the simplicity is one of its major draws.
Has anyone else given it a look?
yep.
Thou I agree, it needs more community integration.
thou? verily.
Indubitably.
just checked out the Darkadia roadmap page & it looks like they've got a bit of a social netowrk idea in the works.
also steam integration \o/
http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/television/reality-show-scandal-channel-7s-please-marry-my-boy/story-e6frfmyi-1226325451253
...sigh... This is why I don't bother with reality tv...
Also because it's shit?
My argument right there!
Jersey Shore is absolute shit but I still watch it :P
It's funny though!
Don't judge me...
I'm judging you.
I'm judging you very harshly.
It's probably a good thing I'm leaving the country, otherwise I might do something I wouldn't regret :P
I used to work on Big Brother, reality TV is a god send for the local industry but I agree we should all be aiming a little bit higher.
I don't mind reality TV. Things like that "please marry my boy" thing are kind of execrable though.
I prefer things like Masterchef or The Block where it's kind of a skills contest. And I can sit there and wonder what I would do in that situation.
Top Shot is the best though. Everyone should watch Top Shot. Because guns. And I don't even like guns. :P
I love The Amazing Race. Haven't really watched the local version, but that's the show that sets the bar for me. Fine line between reality and game show, though. I can't stand fake drama. I used to watch L.A. Ink and then suddenly it got all crap. (ie. spontaneous phone conversation where there just happened to be a camera on both sides. :P)
Haha, yeah I watched the first couple of seasons of Miami Ink way back, and then I watched the first season of New York Ink and got a shock. It was so obviously scripted in places that it was ridiculous.
But yeah, go watch Top Shot. Trust me. ;)
I watch reality TV... But it's usually the stuff that revolves around cars.. Like Jesse James' new show & then there's Sons of Guns & American Guns. Actual educational reality TV! Not that scripted shit!
So we had a biggest morning tea as fund raising for the cancer council today.
OMG so much food.

My body is way out of sorts because it is lunch time and i can't even finish the chocolate crackle I have on my desk. Now the question is how to keep working without slipping into a food coma.
We had our work one yesterday.
It was a similar experience.
Now you're making me want to go out and get lunch before I finish this ticket, darn you Tigs!
Sorry Techie, I shall dedicate the piece of mint mars bar slice I'm about to eat to you
Thank you sir :)
Just commenting on the redbubble thing upthread. I am not a Lawyer, and I'm certainly not your lawyer.
The Miranda rights thing DOES NOT apply to civil suits, it's for criminal proceedings and I believe can even be waived for non-US citizens.
The takedown/violation notices are issued under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. They are obliged to send you a takedown letter (which is what I imagine you got) and give you an opportunity to take down the infringing content before sending in the lawyers.
Most companies nowadays ignore fan art, but not when it's being used for commercial gain. A one-off drawing of Spiderman being sold to someone is probably OK, selling prints of your spiderman drawing is probably not. I imagine that's where they're coming from.
For some reason, that reminds me of people in non-American courts "pleadin' da fif" :p
Oh gods.
Seriously, people, LEARN WHAT YOUR LOCAL RIGHTS ARE.
For example, Police in South Australia can search your property on 'reasonable cause' without a court warrant.
So i won't be getting a new game. =( We're not going anywhere near a game store and I'm too scared to ask to borrow money.
Probably just as well.
But thanks for all the suggestions everyone.
Awww, maybe restart a game you have not played for years.
Just recently I booted up a new game of Simpsons hit and run, I had forgotten just how much fun that game was.
Maybe when I get back. We've got to go out and get us some food
Don't bother borrowing money or buying a game, just dig into your pile of unfinished games and find a relaxing game to play. The retail therapy might be good in the short term but you'll just be adding to your pile and then you have to deal with paying back money as well.
Go the pet store and look at the critters. All your cares will vanish. I did that just a couple of hours ago. :P
But don't get tempted and buy them all :P
Great game!
Time to dig into your pile of shame, scree!
YES! That game is the most fun "The Simpsons" game I have ever played. Maybe I should dust that gem off and start playing it again.
Was that PS1 or 2?
I believe it was on the Gamecube. Well that's the console I have it on
D.C,
The simpsons hit and run was on the PS2, Gamecube and original XBOX.
Thanks, buddy.

Step 1: Get the Spider-Man rights back from Sony...
I'm thinking of logging into the Minecraft server ... but I'm to scared as to what cakey / greenmang did to my castle/house/thingie.
ME!? I didn't do anything wrong!
Caketroll is the culprit :/
Last time I was on there was villagers raining from the sky (your roof) and entering this random chicken coop on your farm. Caketroll spawned like 10,000 zombies in my house as well...
I was exploring the tree village and the game locked up because there were too many villages on the screen.
I didn't see any structural damage...
I just logged in and it didn't seem that bad. Found like maybe 10 or so villagers just wondering around but nothing too bad :P
I was hunting them down but SOMEONE joined and I ran away in fear
There's so many in my castle! D: Also a waterfall coming from nowhere.
Just ran four km, rewarded my self with two choc chip muffins. Feel like I need to start again. :P
Why? Didn't you eat them properly the first time?
You know, there ARE two more sitting just over there... watching me... tempting me... :S
My co-worker walks up the stairs multiple times a day. Yesterday, during the morning tea thing, she had similar issues :p
@Masha
Ok so the lack of a menu is annoying... was the first inFamous like this? It's been a while since I've last played it.
As soon as the updates finished it made me start a new game and I couldn't quit or find any menus. I assumed after the first intro/tutorial level I'd be able to find the option to player user-generated content but nope!
So that was a whole waste of time and sorry I couldn't help out :P. Maybe I need to be further in the game to access it but they really should let you do it from the get-go. Anyways all that did was make me dislike inFamous 2. Guess that's one less game on the pile of shame :D
"Ok, here is THE ULTIMATE CHEERING UP THING THAT WILL 100% PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE
Rocketman’s Facebook display picture."
You are such a prat, i love you for that.
I refuse to believe that, that picture was taken recently :P
Try pausing the game, then scroll down to the user generated content menu option and choose connect to UGC server.
Thanks again.
*sigh* I can finally go and get my stuff for my computer... took long enough...
:(
