I know I'm constantly asking for help (I'm sorry /o\)
But I'm trying to find a tutorial on making lovely handmade birthday invitations.
I can't find any I really like though.
I would love a hand if anyone has any free time to help me find some appropriate ones.
It's for Mum's 60th birthday
Have you looked on instructables?
No, I haven't. It's difficult though because I keep finding "weddings"
Take the wedding one and modify it to be a birthday themed one, be creative! =D
Same skillset though, just different themes. How to make a wedding invitation is the same as how to make a birthday invitation. I made my own wedding invitations, it's pretty easy. Cool paper, a computer with word processing software, a printer and double-sided tape are all you really need.
We made our own too. What we ended up with would have cost us almost $1000 if we'd gotten them professionally done.
Focus on Youtube, and you should find a fair few instructional videos.
I made this one for my wife for her 30th birthday which she really liked
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU-3kbHuSFE
Looks a bit complex but is actually fairly easy, the hardest part is making sure you join the flowers up at the right place.
I would highly recommend using cardboard for the main card rather than paper.
Good luck
Or you could be looking for invitations in which case this reply would be totally pointless.
Wow that's really cool
Totes going to make my future wife that!
How did I miss that back at the start of June?! Looking under "Related Stories" I see "Why Kotaku Australia Should Never Work With Children... Or Robots", that made me cry to see the headline! :'( Damn it Darren you make us all look bad!
@harli
HI HARLI!!!!!!
I'm up for a LOL tournament and am willing to fly down for a couple of days it we get q full team. Count me in!
* if we get a full team.
Sorry I'm posting from my phone.
I'm with NobShot, I might be able to rock up from Canberra, if a spot needs filling.
I COULD PROBABLY ACT AS CHEERLEADER OR SUB IF YOU GUYS NEED IT
HI THANKS NOBSHOT!
THAT MAKES 3 OF US SO FAR!
I WILL TOO HARLI
I WAS TRYING TO RESPOND AT WORK BUT IT WASN'T WORKING /O\
Hi everybody!
Dear James Mac,
!
Kind Regards,
Bish
;
Hey dude, how goes it?
I've... I've missed you guys.
We've missed you!
It's the nights... the nights have been the worst.
James Mac! :D
How are you?
Trooping along Strange... more importantly, how are you?
I'm all right.
I do miss you coming in here with your killer stealth one-liners, though.
But that's what makes me so good.
My humour can be a bit much if you're continually exposed to it.
I'll try to do better in future though.
Well, I don't only miss the humour side of you, you know. :)
I'll bet you say that to all the people on the internet.
Nah, just the James Macs. :P
So thanks to Lifehacker posting an article about an app that tracks your music collection and informs you when artists you like are touring in your area I just found out Everclear are playing a local establishment!
Here's the article in question if anyone was interested.
I want to go home. Someone ring my work with a fake emergency. My long lost evil twin (who is all positive about games) needs a kidney transplant. Yea, that'll do.
I can pretend to be your Mum and say you left your lunchbox at home? :P

@bun bun
Not sure how it would work or if it is even feasible but had a random idea for this. I remember last year when this happened a large number of people had the same game on their list.
maybe there could be some sort of match-making (typo of t instead of k makes that a very different idea) system where they can discuss/compare/challenge each other or even arrange play-dates for co-op games.
Like I said, not sure how it would work but throwing the idea out there
Yeah I like this idea.
I find myself having more motivation to play something when I can discuss it with others or I'm playing it with others. Not the best way but we could just read each other's piles (on the article) and find out who's got similar games, but I'm sure there's an easier way to do this.
Announcements will be announced announcing announcements that might announce and announcement about what you're suggesting :p
I'm rather excited about the things that might happen this year.
Excellent, everything is proceeding as I have foretold
Also not sure if you saw my other post but another site is howlongtobeat.com which is the backlog site I use
Had not seen. Thanks for the heads up!
I need some guidance. I read that The Dark Knight Rises has 50 minutes of IMAX footage. I suspect that this footage will be downgraded to ordinary movie stock for ordinary cinema releases... but somewhere I read the word 'exclusive' and now I'm confused.
Does anyone know if I'll be missing out on content if I see DKR in Canberra, or do I need to make the journey to Sydney with a four week old baby in tow? :P
I think what they mean is "shot exclusively in IMAX".
Seeing as 90% of the IMAS scenes are the action scenes, I imagine quite a few people would be annoyed if the movie was all talk.
So no, you won't miss anything seeing it in normal vision.
Thanks dude. For some reason, I became convinced that there was an extended cut for IMAX theatres only and was starting to get a little frantic.
Actually I've been meaning to ask you something Shane.Have you seen X-Men First Class? And if so, what did you think?
I haven't seen it, I'm afraid.
I'm a bit sour on Marvel movies, TBH.
Have you seen any of the X-Men movies? (Namely 1 & 2)
Yeah, I saw the first 3 flicks.
While I think we all can agree that 3 was terrible, did you like them?
At the time, yes. When I tried to rewatch them, no. Especially #2.
In some ways, I actually liked 3 best, for its attempts at subtext, despite its ludicrous execution. :P
I'd problem recommend checking out First Class then if you get the chance. There are some strong characterisations.
Check out First Class if you get the chance. The end does get very action movie but the arcs of both Charles and Erik are excellent.
Ah, I thought it ate that first comment. Also, wow "problem" instead of "probably" Coffee! STAT!
Thanks, if I get a chance during my time off work, I might just do that! :)
If I remember correctly the opening bank sequence of The Dark Knight was shot in IMAX? All I remember was my mate say this when we were in JB looking and the pretty Bravia engine tv's whilst showcasing this and remembering how beautiful it looked.
Holy damn, I remember seeing the 15 minute preview for The Dark Knight at the London IMAX. It was amazingly good.
Scenes shot in IMAX in The Dark Knight:
1. Bank heist
2. Hong Kong scene
3. Chase scene in Chicago
4. Final fight scene in the skyscraper
5. End scene
6. Various shots over the city
All this talk about the prettiness of the IMAX shots makes me want to watch it again!
Are they the action scenes? In 2Bat 2Man it was mostly the panoramic scenes I thought (like the sweeping shots of Hong Kong).
I don't know, I would find a Batmang actual detective movie kind of thrilling.
A murder can happen, and then he can brood about it abit, sip some coffee in his Batcave, and brood a bit more as he detectives his way through a web of lies and old newspaper clippings and poorly lit rooms full of cigarette smoke and bourbon.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy meets Batmang: mostly because Gary Oldman is in both and he is a rad dude.
Man, how good is Gary OIdman
Oh man, so good!
I haven't seen a majority of those movies but he legitimately looks and acts different in most of them. That can't be said for many "actors" these days...
"Drewski
Don't forget Reznov!"
Hahahahahahaha, but yeah, Reznov was totally a bro, too.
I would love it if Gary Oldman took up the cowl.
Like, that would be seven thousand types of amazing.
You know who else is awesome? Michael Sheen.
It's interesting, IMAX have a real branding problem at the moment. There's the specific theatres, designed with massive screens, that we all know as IMAX's. But they have both Camera's designed for them(thus the appearance of terms like "shot in IMAX" or similar), but they've also got a range of licensed digital projectors, which have allowed a whole bunch of smaller cinemas to claim that they're "IMAX" without actually being, well, IMAX.

Heya!
So I never really used Steam until earlier this year and I keep hearing about these "Summer Sales". What are they like? Would I expect individual games/series to go 75% off or would it be more collections/bundles (similar to Publisher deals) that have a whole bunch of games for really cheap, or both? I have about ~$50 or so in my PayPal balance and I'm wondering whether I should add more or not.
I'm mainly interested in PC only games that I may have missed out on (Witcher, Witcher 2) or just anything that's cheap. Are decent games like them expected to drop or is it really just older titles? Also when would these sales hit? July?
Lotsa questions but thanks in advance :). This really isn't helping me reduce my pile...
The thing with Summer Sales is that you never know what to expect.
Anything could happen! ANYTHING!
This. But expect a lot of publisher deals, full collections for <$100 stuff like that. And yeah, mid summer in the US so probably July sometime!
Steam Summer Sales usually cause my wallet to take a severe hammering.
Based on what happened last year, It was publishers catalogues all x% off for the duration of the sale, with random titles discounted further each day.
Also some random games discounted that werent part of any particular catalogue.
as for start date, usually the first week of July.
Ooooh....SHEEEEEEEEET.
Summer sale is coming up.
Prepare your wallets.
http://i.imgur.com/Qu05i.jpg
Worst timing for Shameless Gaming Month :P
Yeah, this is going to get interesting :D
Also, possibly the best time for shameless gaming, for those who want an extra challenge? (not me)
Yup but I made it July so I'm committing to July.
Damn... looks like I'll need way more money! Those publisher deals seem really good but I'll never play half of those games. Can you gift unwanted games or is it considered a package?
Wait... what's your point?
Did you really need to quote something I just said above?
(a reference to something no one will remember)
But... I like to play the games I buy! Or at least that's what I tell myself... staring at them can be just as fun.
but to answer your question no you can't gift the ones you don't want or already have (unless is says otherwise like the indie potato bundle just released)
Generally last week of June-first week of July.
The Steam sales is how my collection started. Before that there was only like 10 games on my Steam account.
It's a bit of all of those things.
Publishers will drop their entire catalogue or specific franchises heavily for perhaps a day or two, but most publishers have in the past offered a % off for the duration as well. Last sale, the first witcher got to $2.50
for 50 you'll be able to get a bunch of great titles.
http://i1218.photobucket.com/albums/dd405/WNxTigerion/Steam.png
The basic way sales have worked recently is that almost the full catalogue will be on sale, probably around 25% - 50% off
They they will run daily deals where around 10 games would be on sale for 24 hrs only with a countdown. What I have found is that if you are planning on buying games wait until the last day and get everything you want otherwise the moment you buy it at 50% off it will pop up on the daily deal for 75% off the next day.
There is also generally packs on sale which if you are new to steam can be great value, like the THQ complete pack which contains almost 20 games from THQ which will be down to about $50.
Recently they have also been running competition type stuff (tickets last summer, coal over christmas) where you can gain achievements that give you a ticket that can be redemmeed for prizes (DLC, games cosmetic items). Possibly a chance to win grand prize as per christmas which was winning the entire steam catalogue.
But for those specific items I would expect you to be able to pick them both up (certainly witcher 1) for around 75% off as a daily deal.
Hey TAYbies sorry for the spam but it's a good deal and I thought I'll help y'all out.
http://dicksmith.com.au/product/YG5400WEB4/
Xbox 360 4GB Kinect Console + Kinect Sports + 3 Month Live Gold Card for $199 + $9.95 shipping (it's online only). Before this the cheapest I've ever seen the Xbox was $149 last year during boxing day sales and that was just the 4GB. The extras seem more than $50 worth so it's definitely the cheapest deal I've seen :)
It's very tempting to upgrade my fat launch model that's on the verge of breaking down but I rarely play it anyway so there's no point. Hopefully one of youse can benefit from it :D
That is really cheap. I am sorely tempted, just for the Kinect and wireless capability. But I still have no money so will have to let it go. Thanks anyway - that is a really nice deal!
Says out of stock now...
Also isn't 4GB really bad? Sounds like bugger all space for XBL downloads and games that require extra installs.
So, looking into Pile of Shame assisting sites, and the two that have caught my attention are Backloggery and HowLongToBeat. Anyone got any thoughts/opinions about either one?
Backloggery is a pain in the ass to manage your collection. I tried using them and have been rather disheartened.
Considering Darkadia but I haven't had a chance to muck about with it to see if it works for the purposes that I have in mind.
There was some discussion on it a few pages back and Trjn found 2 other ones (can't remember their names). I've looked at both of the ones you've mentioned but only signed up to BackLoggery. Only problem I have with it is that you have to individually enter each one in which can be a hassle. But then again if Cakesmith can do it then ANYONE can do it :P
Yeah, my biggest concern is the lack of automation with the currently available options. If I had the capability, I would get a website up and running that had as much automation as possible.
A good example of this would be something that hooks into you Xbox account to grab info on achievements (somewhat of a method to track progress for the average game) which could do so without Xbox account credentials. Obviously there are limitations to this, I'm just using it as an example.
I think Raptr has something along those lines but I'm not familiar with it and it seems a little... much? I'm not sure. I want a site where you can track what you're doing, not a site that tracks you.
I just played about with Darkadia and it looks like it might be exactly what I'm after. Search for a game, mark it as owned. It goes to your library, where you can say what platforms you own it on, if you've played it, it's unplayed or you're playing it. Most importantly, you can mark as finished or unfinished.
Simple. Elegant. Shareable.
This is the benchmark. If anyone else can find something that is better than this, let me know. I'm going to keep mucking about with it and try out some other sites.
See that's good and everything, but IMO you can be 'done' with a game without 'finishing' it and vice-versa. Which was the basis of the 'goal-based' idea I had. Set your expectations for what you want to do with a game and track yourself against that, not uncountable arbitrary terms like whether you've 'finished' it.
More options than finished/unfinished would be nice. Having just a simple thing like this is very nice though. You can put your definition of what you've done to finish the game in the notes section.
I'm thinking simple is more important than precise at the moment. I will be trying to get participants to join one of these sites so that we can all share what we're doing in a way that is consistent.
I prefer howlong to beat and had a bit of a gush about it here
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/06/talk-amongst-yourselves-163/comment-page-6/#comment-712055
The time to complete and the overall number it assigns your backlog was a big draw for me, as was the time ratings for different playstyles (main quest, speed run, 100%)
I'm definitely checking it out. Just worried that might be a bit intimidating to most people. Hard to draw that line.
Yeah I know what you mean. Having a look at darkadia it is very much style over substance.
However what it does (these are my games, these are the ones I'm playing, these are the ones I finished, this is my pile of shame) it does very well.
Which could be all you need. Signed up and started adding immediately, but I would say it would probably take about the same amount of time as hltb once you get past the first round of popular ones you select and are having to search for each game individually. but certainly much nicer to look at.
That's pretty much while it appeals to me.
I use howlongtobeat for my purchasing decisions. I usually like to know long a game is before I buy it. I've never signed up though I only browse it, so I don't know how it works on the back end.
So I just checked out the LoL website and holy ^&$* that Pulsefire Ezreal skin.
Jesus, I knew they said they were going to make the skin amazing but I didn't think it would be this amazing. DAY 1 PURCHASE!!!!!
its 25 bucks, Its pretty expensive for a skin :/ I wish they would make a lux one like that. :(
It's the standard price of a Legendary skin (except it is 1000x better then every other legendary skin) and for the first 4 days after release it's going to be 1/2 the price of a Legendary skin.
Astronaut Teemo.
$25 for a single skin!? WHOA
No idea what normal Ezreal (I assume that's his name) looks like but I did see this skin for some sad mummy guy and he was all robot like and had emoticons (^_^ xD etc.) flying around him. I assumed skins would just be basic palette swaps but it's cool how they change the moves as well. I now get the appeal of LoL skins :D
Well there are the cheap ones that just change the colour pallet of a champion. But these are legendary skins, pretty much the champion completely remade on the artistic level and sound level all the way up to the voice acting. His skills and stats are the same, always are for any skin
Golden Alistar is best skin.
He's basically your skin now xD
I can't stop watching that video... I want that so so bad! It's the main reason I got Ezreal and tried to learn him. After seeing Steve-O do a good AP Ez I might try that instead of AD
Day 1 Purchase for me too!
The thing that annoys me about skins in this game is that the resolution and model detail is so low that sometimes you end up a few pixels of different colour. Hardly worth it.
Give me LOL with diablo 3 style graphics and I'll be in heaven.
I'm sure the summoner's rift map update was a step in the right direction in that regard. Same with the Ashe art and model remake too.
So I feel like Running this INTER TAY LoL Tournement
I think the fairest way to do it is to group people with similar skills and group them all up. Then at random (pulled from a hat i guess) group 3 people up. Once everyone has a team i will make a round robin draw up so that everyone knows who they are playing and when. Then once everyone has played each other at least 2-3 times whoever has the most wins can play a best of 5 match and whoever wins that will win a prize of some RP or another prize that i can think of.
If you are interested please inform me, i might even see if any non TAYbies in the community want to join SOUND GOOD?
I'll put my name down for it. Although if people are intimidated by my wins number (in all honesty most of you guys are probably better then me) I wouldn't mind putting my hand up for some shoutcasting instead.
Aw man, I sounded like an complete twat then. I should have chosen my words better /o\
If you, stevo, faction and mawt all want to play, you guys can be teamed up with others. I am not gonna group everyone together like that.
Says the guy who wanted Nobshot AND Steve-O on his team :P
We should have somebody who can record these for others to see, not necessarily streamed but able to be VOD'd so that all of TAY can enjoy this, not just the ones playing.
Oh yeah, and count me in too
I'll have LoL Replay going. I wonder if it works in conjunction with Spectator mode?
We should test it tonight, I'll make a custom
I can probably fraps most games and upload them to youtube. I do have the full version, the problem is anybody who will want to watch these games will be the people who are in them
And? I'm sure everybody in the tournament would want to see it
Sure count me in.
If you need to handicap a team count me in
Any skill level is welcome human :)
IF YOU NEED MORE NUMBERS TO ROUND OFF THE TEAM, MY AXE IS UP FOR GRABS HUR HUR!!!
Also this would be awesome, omg i would totes make a highlights vid for this.
I wouldn't mind having a game. I'm ok but haven't put too much time into it. I think I'm level 12 or something
I'm in, like a hotdog down a mixed metaphor.
I'd be in :)
I WILL
Man, I really want to apply for that Allure job!!!
But I think my shitty full week job will still pay more than an awesome part time one :(
Listen to your heart when its calling to you, listen to your heart when there's nothing else you can do, I don't know where your going and i don't know why, listen to your heart before it tells you good buy
DROP THE BASS
WUBWUWBUWBUWBWUBWUBWUWBWUBWUBWUBWUWB
Seriously though, do whatever makes you happy. If you do get it you can finally update the TAY picture to something that doesn't make me want to rip the heads of crickets.
I listened to my heart.
It told be Bubdub...bubdub...bubdub...bubdub
It's a nice message, but the guy's kinda persistent at it.
Sadly there's more to it than just doing what makes you happy.
I loved working at the animation studio and doing design work and other random, awesome jobs like attending voice recording sessions.
But when it was done I was in a mess financially.
If I got the job, I could be losing almost half my wage.
Can you request part-time in your current job and work 2x part-time?
Sorry mr What, i can't really help you there. You gotta look at all the facts and see what would be best for you in the end. GOOD LUCK

After watching Prometheus last week I decided to watch the Alien movies this week (well, actually, I put on Predators to watch, because I've never seen it, and there was an ad for the Alien blu-ray set so I was all "I'm gonna watch Alien!").
Some spoilers for those people living under a rock who haven't seen these
Alien - Still holds up. Still looks glorious on blu-ray. Not much else needs to be said about this one. (Watched the 2003 director's cut)
Aliens - Still an awesome action movie. Hudson is one of the greatest characters ever written. My personal favourite of the series. (watched the 1990 special edition)
Alien 3 - Haters gonna hate, this actually isn't THAT bad. Sure, it's flawed as hell story-wise, but the art direction, the lighting, the cinematography is all amazing. The stedicam alien POV shots are brilliant. I would love to see David Fincher remake this film today with all of the creative control he wants. (Watched the 2003 assembly cut)
Alien Resurrection - I said on Twitter last night that the first half of this movie wasn't as bad as I remembered. Joss Whedon's dialogue is there. The film wants to set up these characters. Then the aliens break loose and Jean-Pierre Jeunet derails the thing. In the original Alien you only ever see the alien kill Kane and Brett. All the other characters are implied deaths (Dallas, who if you watch the directors cut you find out his fate in a later scene) or the bodies are stumbled upon by other characters and it works! In AR however, you see every single little detail, of every single kill (with a couple of exceptions). It's violent for the sake of being violent. And then there is the new born. In the script it is described as a pure savage killing machine. In the film it is shown to be an empathetic creature who just wants to be loved by mummy.
In the film Ripley begins as a dark, almost sinister character. You don't know how much of her psyche is intact, and you're unsure of where her true loyalties lie. The problem is that, as opposed to the script, in the film Ripley ends up in pretty much the same place character-wise. The connection she feels toward the new born, the fact that she's crying and apparently pained to witness its destruction at the end leave questions of just what the fuck is going on with her character. However, in the script Ripley starts out even more dark and questionable and monstrous, but through the course of the plot she actually changes. She makes a choice as to which part of her heritage she sides with, fully embraces her fledgling humanity, and rejects the "beast" inside her as well as the new born. There is no imprinting, no motherly instinct. It sees Ripley as nothing more than its next meal, and she sees it as just another alien posing a threat to humanity that needs to be destroyed. (Watched the 2003 special edition)
GET AWAY FROM HER YOU BITCH
Don't hate me, but I've only seen the first one and ten minutes of the second.
The second movie is a slow burn. You're over an hour into the movie before the aliens even show up. It's well worth watching. Chuck it on the pile of things to potentially watch when you have time off :P
Fully agree with your assessment of all of the movies... I believe 3 is misunderstood because I think it's very well put together... Well the directors cut anyway not the theatrical cut
I have the Blu-Ray set but have only watched Alien so far. I've seen them all once, generally at around release time. Really loved the quality of Alien on Blu-Ray. Really incredible. Keen to watch the other three actually. Nice to see some positive things being said.
I've always liked Resurrection. But then, Aliens is the only other one I've seen.
So I shouldn't be mentioning that I've never seen any of these movies?
Who has seen Prometheus? I saw it last week and honestly I walked away thinking "MEH".
YOU'RE DEAD TO ME!
*runs away crying*
So I just found this on YouTube (full concert of Slash & The Conspirators from New York the other month pro shot) good to see about 5 new songs from the album played live! Good mix of songs from all the Slash stuff.
Did anyone catch “Life’s Too Short”?
Liam Neeson attempting improv comedy: “I have contracted aids. I’m riddled with it.”
It was brilliant.
http://youtu.be/sqA577_IoBk
HA! Too good!
Oh, that clip is so bloody good :)
I wasn’t crazy about the rest of the episode, though it was all right, but this clip was totally fantastic.
It's a funny clip. He's got an epic voice too :)
Ha Ha. Life's too short is a brilliant series. I cant wait for a new season next year.
Why have I never heard of this show before? That clip was gold!
Watch it ASAP. There's only one season so far with 7 episodes. You should be able to watch the whole thing in a day or a weekend.
Ha Ha! Oh, Dilbert:
http://www.dilbert.com/strips/comic/2012-06-13/
I really need to start reading dilbert again. It seems to lose some of it's appeal once you become the boss though ;)
It loses all appeal once you realise what a tool Scott Adams is.
Didn’t want to know this. Will now proceed to unread it.
There, that’s better.
You read it, you can't unread it!
I like Dilbert, even though Scott Adams is definitely a tool. The cartoon series was pretty decent and the comics occasionally provide a mild chuckle. Nothing worth going out of your way to enjoy though. Just something that's there and doesn't necessarily suck.
That gave me a good laugh :D
Had a quick look at Darkadia. I've seen that bookshelf layout around before, so I guess a few people use it :P
Not sure how it'll go with handling people with a library like mine (on Steam, if I only count non-indie games, that's about 300), let alone Cakesmith (approximately EVERYTHING).
It uses the Giant Bomb wiki database thingy, which is about as comprehensive a games library as I can find.
Just realised I wasn't very specific :P
What I meant was, it's a nice way to display games, but if you have a huge list, it kinda defeats that idea.
From what I've seen with playing around with it, it's pretty nice through. I love how easy it is to add games.
Only issue I have with it so far is the lack of community focus. Could be that I haven't looked hard enough, but it seems to be very focused on the individual, and then you can share you profile link with people.
I added a few of mine and it just seems to add new pages that you slide between.
http://darkadia.com/member/Tigerion/library
Not bad. A list view would be nice though.
I just added 129 games, apparently. Took around 5 minutes, cause I just expanded the "most popular" list to full.
So it's basically just a collection manager then?
Yes.
A communal aspect would be nice. Being able to add people as friends, get updates when they make changes to their collection. That might be a little much to ask though. Being able to form groups would be right out, but rather excellent.
Even just a friends list for easy navigation would work well.
I don't see why you'd bother making a site without those features. No one will use it for more than a week or two.
Can we get a link? *too lazy to look*
Darkadia.
Thanks, will post when done
I was gonna go get myself a coffee this morning, get up all early and such. Have breakfast someplace. But I didnt got to bed till 5:30am then when I hit my snooze button at 7:30 I didnt wake up till 1:30. And I still dont have my coffee, such a waste.
I have not slept since my 1 hour nap yesterday. Audit exam killed me. Now i'm deciding whether I should have a nap before my basketball match later /o\
You're lying.
*Ba dum tish*
Well if you check my post on page 8 from last night, you would know that I spent the night going over accounting standards.

That's cool. I'm used to it.
So! What's new guys?
Anything going on that I may have missed? And Community Playdates?
Any meats in planning or stories that need told?
Anything you think is relevant or stuff you think isn't anyway, post underneath or email me and we'll read it out on Potaku!
Think of it like a seperate Community Kudos if you will!
Also: Listen to Potaku!
http://potaku.podbean.com/
My, that is a sweet-ass looking website. Also Rocketman is planning a kotaku 3v3 LoL tournament and Harli wanted to compete in an official tournament.
Pyrean and Gorzy are planning a house-warming meat for their bachelor pad, I will be in Sydney August 8th and hope to meat up with peeps, Shane is welcoming a new edition to his family and I want to say hi to
Strange and BishStrish! (Bange?)*uses crickets chirping sound effect again*
I want you to tell Bishy on Potaku that I said "Hi!". :P
DONE!
On one condition! You listen to the first two episodes!
Wait! I've listened to the first two! You should tell Strange that I said "Hi!"!
...I'll get around to it eventually. :)
I have SO many sound effects!
Do you have a toilet flushing? All podcasts should have toilet flush sound effects.
With the exception of the E3 HYPE TRAAAAAIN I find sound effects in podcasts get overdone and get really old, really fast.
Our playdate for Uncharted last night went well, we played some online team deathmatches (getting slaughtered) and some closed matches (where I definitely got slaughtered). We also played 2 levels of the Adventure.
I'd love to try a Space Marine playdate, as now it's on PS+ a bunch of people should have access to it.
I also want to know how Dr. Nic's salmon smoking went on the weekend. Not sure if he even listens to Potaku but he promised to let me know! :P
So I'm good at preparing for this shameless gaming month. Today I bought 2 new games \o/
Don't worry. Last year, one of the games I finished (Alice: Madness Returns) was purchased a few days before I decided to make SGM a thing. The package arrived from ozgameshop mid-month.
One of the games was Soul Calibur V, so that's not really a game I'm interested in playing through the single player of heh.
Don't worry Cakesmith, over the course of SGM last year I reduced my pile of shame by... -16 games? Or was it -14? Something like that. Pretty abysmal, given I did actually finish two games...
You're better at this than me, I only got the one (On the plus side I still have a list half your size)
Taking bets now: will my new graphics card & PC case arrive tomorrow in time for the weekend or will it annoy the crap out of me by arriving on Monday like usual?
Coming from Melbourne (Mulgrave) to Melbourne (Southbank) via Australian Air Express.
$5 says Monday
I'm expecting Monday as well.
Will be pushed from the back of the plane and come crashing through your roof at 4:08 pm tomorrow
$5 on Tuesday.
If it's Mulgrave I would have just picked it up. Less hassle and don't have to pay for postage.
AAE, my money says never & is "lost in transit"
