Today feels like it's going at snail's pace.
Incidentally, I have a dog on my lap.
He is resting his chin on my arm.
Hence why I am thankful for having dual mice.
Dogs are the best.
Dogs are the best people.
If Just Cause 2 was the only game I'd bought in the Steam Sale, I'd still be happy.
Is that MP mod out yet? We should try it out sometime.
How many players does the mod support? 30+ would be hella crazy :D
I wonder what would happen if a line of 30 people all grapplehook'd the person in front of them at the same time.
Grapples Across Panau?

IGNORE THIS OR I WILL EAT YOU RARGH
I believe it's in invite only testing, once it comes out I am definately up for it, multiplayer was the one thing that game was missing
@Cakemang in regards to Minecraft
(to repeat what Bish said) Would it ne better for us to deposit monies into your bank account or for one of us to take over the payments?
What a lousy Monday. Got "friend-zoned" by a girl who I can't stop thinking about :(
Also, woke up with Steam Sale hangover. "Sale Goggles" were strong this year. /o\
Dunno how many of you read Life Hacker, but Mark has an article up on there today about why he doesn't consume alcohol anymore, pretty interesting read. http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2012/07/why-i-dont-drink-alcohol-any-more/
Awesome article. I don't drink, I've never been shamed or made to feel awkward about it, though. Only feel bad when someone buys me a drink without asking and I have to refuse. Makes me feel like a d-bag. haha.
Just had a quick play of Left 4 Dead 2 for the first time. Despite not really liking Zombie/Monster/etc games, it was quite fun. I think it's because there's SO many zombies that you never have the chance to build tension for a jump-scare or something. Unlimited ammo doesn't hurt, either.
I'd definitely be interested in some multiplayer one day. (I've also got Killing Floor and Payday: The Heist for any future multiplayer but haven't installed them yet. I'd need some notice on those!)
Good ol' Steam Sales, huh?
Ninja attacks from special infected can make you jump, but the L4D series isn't built around scaring/startling the player. It's mostly focused on being AWESOME.
Count me in. I also have other games I'd like to play too like Dead Island and Lara Croft. I wouldn't mind going through some Borderlands DLC either :)
So in celebration of Breaking Bad day I have a new wallpaper \o/ http://i.imgur.com/SdN3Y.png
"Cats are manipulative, sociophobic creatures intent on the demise of the hand that feeds. In short, too similar to a human for my liking. Dogs are stupid for loving us. Or just far too generous. I appreciate that, and am humbled by it."
Man, going through my sentbox on my phone... you'd think I was a dog-person or something.
I like cats but they are jerks almost all of the time.
I have a friend who forced his cat to be social from when it was a mangy little kitten. So, now it's friendly, and totally not a jerk. It's great.
Yeah but cats make you feel like you have no control, in short they are for people who hate responsibility. thats why they are perfect for me. I love dogs to. Im just a animal lover, i think. Animals are non judging and always good listeners :)
Except for cats, who have a tendency to walk of mid-conversation.
The bastards.
Off*
Dammit, why?!
Just grab the cat and hold it down while you are talking to it. Or have a fish in your hand :)
Humanity doesn't deserve dogs.
My cat is incredibly affectionate, and I'm pretty sure his father was a cat and his mother was a ragdoll.
He also plays fetch.
Your move, buddy.
The only cat (aside from kittens, who could get away with murder) I've enjoyed the company of was named Dog, aptly so. Didn't like being stroked, you had to forcefully pat/smack (god, that sounds bad) it on the head as a reward/treat. He also played fetch.
With regard to your cat, there's always exceptions to the rules :P
Your cat is the exception.
Now if he were a dog, that would just be normal.
Well, we kept the name he got from the rescue shelter, which was Odie. Guess that probably plays a roll in this...
Also, Aleph, this particular cat likes normal cat pats AND (almost) unnecessarily hard pats.
Ragdoll cats are pretty cute. A bit stupid though, what with the utter lack of self-preservation instincts.
I'm just an animal person, but I have a cat instead of a dog because my household isn't fit for a dog to live in (no proper backyard, the house is empty often due to everyone working) and it seems unfair to the dog. A cat can sort of take care of itself, and my cat isn't unsociable like other cats... In fact she's too sociable, she walks up to people who cone past our house because she's fat and thinks that if she's nice to people they'll feed her -_-
Superman III, Batman Forever, Blade Trinity, X-Men 3, Spider-Man 3, Dark Knight Rises.
Some sort of universal law about the third movie in a series based on comic books is clearly apparent.
Note to movie makers, stop at two, wait a few years, reboot franchise. IT'S THE ONLY WAY!
I meant to change X-men 3 to X-Men: The Last Stand (Renamed so I could post my findings on twitter)
DArk Knight rises wasn't that bad sir. Sure it dragged a little, but i enjoyed it. Maybe it was just me?
Also i was super hyped to read all the spidermans you gave me. I actually even bought ultimate spiderman one. im such a comic hoarder :P
It wan't a bad film. It was by far the worst in the trilogy though.
And be honest, Rockets. It didn't drag a little. It dragged a lot.
there were parts i thought took too long but dat ending made up for it :)
That ending was awful! D: It went against everything Batman stands for and who he is!
Yeah not that part, the last part with alfred was dumb. the fight scene was cool. i enjoyed that.
I don't think it was enough to redeem the film.
Although I need to add that I am not saying you're not allowed to like it, nor do I think you wrong for doing so.
Like away, young Rocketman. Like away.
It's still going on my list of inferior third films :P
I can respect someones opinion who has more age and wisdom and we don't have to agree with each other on everything. How not fun would the world be then.
It was perfectly in keeping with the Batman that Nolan had established, though I agree it doesn't gel well with the batman of the comics. But that's the case for a lot of it. I have to admit I definitely felt the hand of a board of executives in that epilogue though.
I disagree, I didn't like Begins very much at all and preferred Rises.
And even at its worst, DKR vs Batman Forever...
You speak wisely.
Thank you, sir!
Games too?
Might not always be true, but I can think of a few just from this year off the top of my head. Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, MW3. All nowhere near as good as the games previous them.
Well, me theory doesn't apply to all third films. Only ones based on comics.
Yeah, but the third iteration in a series seem to fall short in a lot of things. I guess #1 it's awesome, I hope they make a sequel. #2 it's better, they fixed a lot of the problems. #3 "we're out of ideas, but we want your money, so we'll drastically change everything to make as much as we can."
I'm probably the minority, but I REALLY enjoyed ME3. Infact it was much better then ME2. Sure they botched the ending, but I don't think it's the worst ending ever (See Knights of the Old Republic 2). It seems like all anyone cares about was the ending. ME3 was so good until the end.
I liked the ending. I liked the game. I just thought 2 was superior in every way.
I found 2 way less fun and very much less engrossing than 3. I felt in 2 like I was just slogging through to see what happens at the end. With 3 there was a great atmosphere that I loved, due to what was happening in the bigger picture, and the gameplay was more fluid and exciting as well.
See I preferred all the companion side quests. The ones in 3 were "fly to this system, scan, fly back" The main story in 3 just didn't grab me so much either, ended up being way too cliche.
As I said, I enjoyed the game, 2, to me, was just better.
In the end it all boils down to opinion. Maybe at the third iteration of a series, we have way too much expectation.
You're both wrong, ME1 was the best game ok.
Aside from the ending, Mass Effect 3 was a pretty great game. I think most people will admit that.
Blade Trinity was my favourite Blade movie.... :P
Blade Trinity is the only Blade movie I've watched
I watched all of them. And the TV series. I think I enjoyed the TV series the most though.
I didn't mention Blade Trinity on Twitter cause it's my fave too.
What can I say? I like Ryan Reynolds! he makes me laugh! Except in Green Lantern *shudders*.
I still haven't seen that! Was thinking about buying the 3D version after seeing it in JB for about $15. :P
I am still trying to figure out Anne Hathaway's leg. It's like those prosthetic joke legs that just just turns up and hits people. The heels were just too much imo. It's like the black widow's curse of the stuck zipper (also arkham city's cat woman curse).
But I love her either way. Also Joseph gordon-levitt.
I'm just a teenage CJ TAYBIE
Did no shameless gaming soOoo hate-me
Bought no games on the sale, save my money.
Cause I'm just a teenage CJ TAYBIE, unlike you.
Afternoon TAY!
*slow clap*
Great, now I've got this whole "Wheatus/Men Without Hats" mashup goin' on in my head. DAMMIT!
Also HI CJ! How are you, frond?
Not too bad man, battling my sisters cat that im looking after for the week for control of my laptop atm. Hes figured out the touch pad.
I don't like applying for jobs when they ask questions like "What is your greatest achievement?" or "Why would you be good for this job?" in the application.
Why can't they save those for an interview when I can hopefully make a good impression first, THEN look like a stammering idiot.
Are you a travel agent yet???
I need someone to book me some tickets!
Applying now. Fingers crossed I get something soon. Parents are already on my case
Bah! You'll be fine!
You're one of the most passionate people I know when it comes to talking travels and holidays. They're missing out if they don't snap you up!
Just adapt some epic even you took part in in some game.
I don't think Flight Centre wants to hear about me becoming Champion of Unova, Hoenn, Kanto, Johto and Sinnoh
I am intrigued.
Please, tell me more.
your well traveled!!
I like your way of thinking
Yes I hate that too!
But probably because I've got nothing to say :P
Take my money!
I just woke up. What did I miss?
I saw The Dark Knight Rises on Saturday evening. I enjoyed it for the most part. Bane was cool. Anne Hathaway did a good job as Catwoman (I'm an Anne Hathaway fan though so I'd probably say she did a good job as anything). It didn't feel like there was enough Batman in the film though and he didn't feel as cool as he did in the last two films. Also, there was a group of people sitting behind me who kept talking and laughing throughout the whole thing. It was pretty annoying. Also, also, someones phone went off twice during the film. Some people have no cinema etiquette.
While on the subject of Batman, I've been reading some of that New 52 DC started a year ago. I never did get around to getting any physical comics (cause I'm lazy) but I've purchased a few digitally. I've read issues 1 and 2 of Batwoman and issue 1 of Batman, Batgirl and Birds of Prey. My thoughts so far are:
Batwoman: Not sure I like the art style. Stories pretty good. It sort of drops you in the middle of things with no explanation about who the characters are or what their history is, which is surprising given that the New 52 was supposed to be a reboot and get new people into reading comics. Luckily issue 2 featured a brief paragraph telling you a bit of Batwoman's history. Also, Kate Kane is freakishly pale.
Birds of Prey: Okay. Like Batwoman it sort of drops you into the middle of things with no explanation about who the characters are or what's going on. I'll have to read a few more issues and see if things become clearer before I make any final judgement.
Batman: Great story and art. Makes an effort to let you know who certain characters are.
Batgirl: Also great story and art. Makes an effort to explain some of Batgirl's history.
Also, I had heaps of issues getting the damn website that sells digital versions of these comics to work. I was using comiXology and the site just refused to work in Firefox and IE. Finally I downloaded Chrome and it seems to work fine in that. Still, a lot of wasted hours trying to get it to work in Firefox.
There is a notable lack of Batguy review.
He's a doctor!
I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking the Batguy review was conspicuous in its absence. ;)
Batman and robin is really strong story wise and i am a fan of how they made damian, he is probably my second favourite robin.
Batmaan new 52 is amazingly awesome, seriously scott synder knows how to spin a yarn. The art is freaking amazing. Combine that with a new interesting villain made it a really enjoyable read so far.
also read aquaman new 52 stuff, he is freaking badass
just in case nobodys said it yet, Saints Row the 3rd (franchise pack). 91% off on steam now. thats everything for about $10.
Holy crap, that's an AWESOME saving!
THAT IS CRAY CRAY
Yeah I just saw that! My jaw dropped!
The only thing that's stopping me is that I might not be able to run it on my computer :/
Should check here see what it says! http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/intro.aspx
Yeah I was going to but then I'd have to reboot into Windows and such (site doesn't work on the Mac side).
I just bought it anyway. 91% is too much to pass up :P It looks like I scrape into the requirements, so it might run alright if I lower the graphics, etc. I mostly only want it for multiplayer!
Derping is so much fun, though I'd recommend doing the first few missions at least, if only to unlock better weapons/vehicles/upgrades beforehand :D
Or just use all the crazy stuff you already have unlocked since you have all the little DLC packs :P
Farkkkkkk!!
I paid $15 for the game and $5 for the 3 main DLC. Ah well! Still bloody awesome :)
Just noticed, the standard game is still at $14.95 or so, whereas the Franchise pack is $9.79
Strange, but what the hell? ANYONE THAT HASN'T PURCHASED SR:3 YET< NOW IS YOUR CHANCE!!!
I've already played it on 360 and I'm considering getting it for this price. That's cheaper than one DLC item for 360 alone.
Yep! Stupid overpriced DLC and awesome really cheap games!
Apparently the reviews for the 3 main DLC aren't too good but that's because they're really short. Probably not worth $10 if you're just planning to play through them but then again you can always mess around with the plenty of TAYbies who now have it on PC :)
I've only played the Trouble with Clones DLC so far and I thought it was a decent length. It was also pretty funny and the last mission was incredibly fun.
That's the last one isn't it? I heard that was the best of the 3. It's mainly the other 2 that had the complaints.
My problem with its DLC is that the achievements appear in your steam thing, even when you don't have the DLC, so you're stuck staring at them, mocking you forever!
urgh I hate that so much!
The DLC was really fun. I've already completed 95%+ of all the single player stuff...
I call shenanigans
They shouldn't offer better deals at the end of the sale it is just bad business sense. next sale I will be wary of buying items early on sale because they may end up cheaper later on. Actually this might be a good thing to give me another reason to reduce my spending
Idea: We should gift Notch a bunch of Vegas games (like Vegas: Make It Big) so that he no longer half-makes a game then decides to jet off to Vegas. Maybe he'd be productive!
You can. I'll watch. :)
or we should gift him Terraria and be like, this is how polished a finished game should be you jerk. Make scrolls this polished.
Oh dear lord, someone talk me out of the Galaxy Nexus deal at Giz
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/07/afternoon-deal-galaxy-nexus-for-379/
Please? PLEASE?!
Oh wonderful, a reply fail.
You're good at this. :P
Replyfailing, or spending money?
On the plus side, I've decided to go against the purchase of a new phone. My dumbphone supports all my telephony requirements here on my little rock :P
I'll wait to see what's released in a year or two, when I'm ready for civilisation again!
I think both a little from column a, and a little from column b.
I can't get Daytona USA working on mame...
:`(
Just yell ROLLING START! and make engine noises for a while.
Try and go easy on the car!
...it's not the same...
:(
Time extension!
Anyone want a copy of Saints Row the Third on 360?
Too late, Shiggy wins.
Silly phone. Stop ringing.
Have you tried punching it ... with a sledgehammer? I think that will solve your problem.
It wouldn't. There are multiple handsets :(
Play whack-a-mole with the handsets!
Smash all the handsets!
...with a blender...
Wear earplugs - then the phones can ring...but you cant hear them.
Why has it taken me so long to play Bastion? The game is awesome!
Yeah it is, music is absolutely amazing too. Hope you got the pack with the soundtrack.
Ok, so do you guys want to see the outskirts of Angurugu (the community where I work) or through the heart of it? I'll try to take a video or summin', we'll see how it goes :P
Why not?! DO IT, MANG.
But that doesn't answer anything /o\
Imagine you're reading a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure novel, except that I'm the protagonist, and there's still every possibility of death :P
So.
"You finish work for the afternoon, and are contemplating which route you will take home. As you reach the car, you decide to go:
1. Through the township, past ramshackle housing and the worst speedbumps known to mankind Turn to page 11
2. Around the outskirts, braving the makeshift dumping ground and caryard Turn to page 25
Page 25.
Done! I'll have the results up ASAP :P
(Oh god I must be bored to be doing this!)
PAGE 25. PAGE 25. But don't take your fingers off the page because otherwise you can't go back and then if you die you can't undie. Choose your own adventure books were always very stressful.
I like to think of it as a save game system. Ten fingers = ten save game slots.
got to be page 11 - always pick the prime number.
posted too late :(
Oh God, you fools! What have you done? You've doomed us all!
It's not too bad, at least 25 is a square, so there'll be at least one more choice before death.
Whichever is most appealing? :P
Can't read that word without "Here's an appealing fellow. In fact, they're a-peeling him off the sidewalk" going through my mind in Troy McClure's voice.
Wow. That's... small and remote.
Was just reading about Anindilyakwa and mathematics. Puzzling stuff.
Jeepers! How can you stand that year-round heat?
Ive had TAY open for most of the day and have still not had a chance to read it. Then i hear people talking about job interviews and such so I can't complain!
So just wanted to stop by and say Hi!
Oh you want a sneak peak at something special that should be out in a few weeks?
http://puu.sh/KVZC
So awesome.. can't wait to see it. (Oh btw i'm not making it so not really sure what will be in it?) Also if I'm really lucky it will be on XBL which is awesome... I just hope that is a bobble head Shady.. that would be amazing.
Also happy monday to you all, hope steam didn't take all the monies.
That vid looks like it's going to be rad :), make sure to let us know when it's out so we can see The Adventures of FatShady: Finland Edition and then get all uber jelly
Happy Monday to you too shady.
Chris Evans!
BREAK ME OFF A PIECE OF THAT, GIIIIIRL.
Only if it is post-presto-change-o-Captain America, cause pre-changed-Captain-Chris was kinda funny lookin.
I will never forget banana split not another teen movie Chris Evans
Where!?
In my pants.
Though realistically, filming.
i have like 8 ideas of what i want to do for a fake trailer for the good doctors movie screening. Nearly all of them involve me in a wig. I hope i am a hot red head.
Hot.
Hotr
Hotro
Hotros
HOTROS...
..
..
Must... resist...
Bish gave me your message on Friday night.
Dick
:P
Technically Ho-Tross is not the same :P
HOTAS!
Found a sparrow in the fireplace, opened the fireplace to let it out.
Sparrow subsequently stopped in rumpus room, I thought it had injured itself somehow.
Covered him with the towel, placed him on top of recycling bin lid.
First thought ,"Why isn't he moving?"
Waited half a minute, sparrow looks up and on seeing that it was outside, promptly flew away.
:)
So yeah, that was basically the most interesting thing that has happened all afternoon.
So then you found $10?
Nah, but I did find a sparrow.
Which to me was worth more than $10.
($11.35 to be exact...)
OK, I'm officially finished with my first Steam sale. I doubled my original budget (and feel a little guilty because of it :P). I never used to impulse-buy until I joined TAY. It's everyones fault but mine! I'm not buying any more games until the new Pokémon comes out!
Oh, and if anybody is looking for something to buy last minute, Skydrift is $3.39 and is a pretty cool plane-racing game!
Yeah, no buying any new games for a long time after this. But I justify it when I consider I got 25 games for $70, and that's still less than your average retail 360/PS3 game these days.
Now, downloading all of these games will probably take a while.
I've pretty much got everything I wanted for the price I was willing to play :)
I did pretty well considering I'm new to PC gaming so I had to pick up some older exclusives I missed out on. I got around 24 games (including gifts) for under my budget. So pretty decent sale!
And I too will not be buying games for a very long time :P (unless my preorder for Darksiders II counts but other than that I won't buy anything until Borderlands 2).
You don't need to feel guilty. You bought high quality games at very good prices. Over the next few weeks you'll enjoy a number of games you may have never tried if not for the sale. You'll have fun with friends in multiplayer and co-op matches, you'll take part in discussions you wouldn't have before and the money you saved can even fuel future purchases.
Now unless you were really strapped for cash, DON'T FEEL GUILTY.
I think Skydrift was free with PS+, but I've never played it. If you insist that it's pretty good I might try it out.
Yeah I know. Really I only spent about 50ish dollars, but it was more than I planned on spending. xD
And yeah, Skydrift is worth a look but honestly I don't think it's worth the price you pay on PSN (especially considering there is no split-screen multiplayer, which in my opinion is completely stupid for a console release :P). If you see it cheap though it's pretty fun.
God dammit. I attempted to buy the Saints Row 3 pack via Steam using the iOS app and Paypal declined the transaction and put my account on limited access for some crazy reason. :\
"We are currently performing regular maintenance of our security measures. Your account has been randomly selected for this maintenance, and you will now be taken through a series of identity verification pages." THANKS HEAPS PAYPAL!
And now they want me to add insecurity questions too, so that my account is easier to hack via social engineering. :\
Holy crap, I've spent nearly $300 on Steam games during the sale.
Yeah that happened to me as well (except with the Android app). Had to go change all my Paypal passwords and everything :/
I only used it for browsing after that...
