Morning Mortals,

-
Also, anyone planning to keep tabs on the Mars Curiosity landing?
-
It’s supposed to land at around 3 o’clock this afternoon so I might check in then.
-
Another week of uni ready to go…
And I have already lost my USB.
Perfect
-
Haha woops!
Morning everyone. Only got about 3 hours of sleep last night.
-
*high fives you*
-
Morning.
-
Me too, man. You wake up with a headache for the ages as well?
Can someone make a ripoff of Katy Perry’s song called “I’m Alan Wake” (im wide awake)?
-
Something something I’m Alan Wake some thing something something torch.
Hey, this thing writes itself.
-
Yeah, the “something something”s are just pages of the song lyrics you neglected to collect!… The are uh, printed out in a large font size, ok?
-
I posted this on the weekend, but for those who don’t visit on weekends, I’m curious to know who. if anyone, is going to see Frenzal Rhomb in Brisbane in October? I know someone from here went to the last show, so just checking if it should be made in to a mini meat!
-
I don’t want to go because I might run into my doppleganger there 😐
-
I won’t be going. I used to like them a very long time ago but these days I can’t listen to them. Maybe I’ll Meat up with you for drinks outside and then go home. 😛
-
I think the over exposed Dreamworld ad from a few years back killed ’em for a lot of people in Queensland. 😛
-
Have you heard Chinese Burns Unit?
umm… thats Jay’s new band if you havent. but I’m guessing you have.
…carry on.
-
haha yeah I have indeed heard them. Not too shabby at all. Still not quite Frenzal though.
As for Matthew, I don’t think you’re likely to run in to that guy. I don’t think he was a member of the band. Not unless Reece was a bit chubby at the time. I think he was a canadian who just happened to be there at the time 😉
-
Mornin’ TAY.
I regret going to work, and may disgorge my breakfast shortly.
…be right back.
-
Sounds like you have a chance for seconds.
Morning!
Good Morning everybody. Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was filled with Pokemon Conquest. This game is seriously addicting. Since Friday afternoon I’ve already put almost 20 hours into it. I can’t remember the last time a game grabbed me this hard, this fast.
For those who play it, which eeveelution did you pick? I went for Espeon, because it’s adorable. Also got really lucky and got the Share ability.
-
How exactly do you choose to evolve it?
My Eevee automatically evolved into Glaceon when I beat the ice place. Which was awesome, because he smashed Nobunaga and his dragons, but yeah, it just happened and I don’t know why.-
Specific percentage requirement and then battle them in the elemental location of choice, or use a stone.
The first method is how you got a Glaceon. Think it required 70% or something.
-
Yeah I kinda cheated and checked how to get each one. You get espeon by having 70% link and then battling in Illusio.
-
-
It really is addictive, isn’t it? I chose Flareon for my Eevee because I didn’t have any other Perfect Link fire types (I only ever use perfect links. It seems like a waste otherwise :P). You can get more than one as well! (though Eevee is apparently pretty rare. I haven’t found one yet…) Planning on Glaceon if I ever find another.
ps. If you haven’t already, get a Perfect Link Gyarados. It destroys everything (but it is a massive pain to evolve from Magikarp. Totally worth it though).
-
I got a perfect link Gyarados really early on, mostly due to a lucky find of a perfect link warrior/Magikarp. I think I’ve used it in every important battle since.
Dat Aqua tail.
-
I got super lucky. My perfect link mafia to evolved after one battle. Granted I didn’t catch it until after I’d beaten the Earth Kingdom but still lucky.
I also have a 70% link Charizard that tears through everything. And that’s guys perfect link is a Chandelure. Which I can see being even more powerful. I just haven’t found a litwick yet
-
*magikarp not mafia
-
Haha! I was wondering what that was supposed to be.
So you beat the Earth kingdom first, then? Does that mean you didn’t have to fight the Psychic one?
-
Yeah. At that stage I had a really strong quagsire and carnivine but nothing really to take on a Bunch of psychic types. I didn’t know that I’d only have to beat one though
-
Yeah neither did I. I went for the Psychic kingdom first because I hadn’t evolved my Magikarp yet (which I had spent about 2 in-game years working on at that point :P). Then they tell me I don’t even have to beat the Ground place anymore! At first I thought it was a hand-holding thing the game did because I was taking so long 😛
-
I’ve only got the ghost and ice kingdoms to go, and then I guess Nobunaga himself for the main story.
Also, why is it that everytime I get in a position where I have to attack my own team, it’s always, always, ALWAYS a critical hit. Every single time

Day Z logs.
Alive again! Burden free, with nothing weighing me down but some painkillers, a bandage and a flashlight. And for the first time in 6 days, I sprint open fields without a care in the word.
Prigorodky! Brilliant. I could use a weapon. I sneak into the red barn past the zombies and check the place out; bandage, bandage, bandage, empty tin can, bandage, Hatchet! I am okay with this. I equip my hatchet and shuffle out, spotting another shed to my left. If I meet up with Blaghman, trying to look for his body, and he enlists my help. I reluctantly give him my spare hatchet, before I start sprinting around trying to recall the events leading up to our death (“Oh hey, is that Prigorodky? AHMAHGAWD, A COW! HI COW”), and ten seconds later, manage to find Blaghman his body. He offers me a gun off himself, but I refuse and grab my spare hatchet back, because I have a plan. I will run into Cherno with two hatchets, because I am Crazy Axe Man. If someone shoots me, so be it; all they get off me is two hatchets and some bandages.
So I sprint. I sprint into Cherno yelling “I AM CRAZY AXE MAN” over the in-game voice chat. I sprint all the way to the apartments where I see another survivor rolling around. I quickly check, it’s not f4ction, nor is it Blaghman. Hm, this could be bad. I yell over to him “Hey guy! I only have two hatchets on me, so if you want to kill me, go for it!”
Silence.
Oh, a zombie has aggro’ed to me. While I’m in the middle of hatcheting it, the other survivor yells out “… Nah, I’m good!”
I round the corner and say hi to the other survivor. Sam says Hi back, and he mentions there’s a Lee Enfield in the apartments in the back, but I politely refuse. Because I have two hatchets. He asks if I could give him a blood transfusion and I happily oblige; I smash the hospital glass, grab some medical supplies, and heal him up. We wish each other good luck in not dying, and I sprint off yelling “I AM CRAZY AXE MEDIC”
-
Best DayZ story yet. I’m laughing so much I almost choked on my breakfast!
-
Oh, Sam died five minutes later.
It made me sad.-
Dawwww.
-
Gee thanks Bishy, now I look like a really mean person for laughing. 😛
-
-
How does in-game voice work? Is there a limitation on how far you are from people and whether or not they can hear?
-
Yes Rize
You only hear the voice chat of people within a certain distance from you.
That being said – the distance is quite large. You can easily talk to someone inside a tall building when you are on the roof. I guess the range might be a bit further than shouting?
-
-
Oh, Bish…
-
After reading stories like this I sort of really want to try out Day Z but I don’t know if playing it would actually be as fun as reading about it, sort of like EVE.
-
If only I had enough download quota – I feel like I’m missing out on many shenanigans!
Morning! 12 degrees when i got up, positively balmy!
-
Only one thing to do when it’s that hot – break out the budgie smugglers and go for a cooling dip at the beach!
Warning: Budgies may disappear if it’s that cold.
All right, so one week into looking after my father-in-law I’ve discovered things about him I wish I never had to know. 😛
I’ve also taken to drinking tea. I think this means I’m a grown-up now?
-
That sounds ominous. The tea drinking too. 😛
-
I drink tea as well strange so no it doesn’t make you grown up 😛
-
You’re not a grown up ’til you give up!
Never give up Strange, NEVAR!
-
Drinking tea just means you’re classy, like that Bish guy.
-
Tea is more delightful :). I have tea whenever I feel down to give me a tasty pick-me-up
This weeks goal: stop going to News.com.au hopefully forever. I’m sick of their spin, tabloid stories and horrible commenters.
-
Mislead you once, shame on them. Mislead you twice, shame on you.
-
You mean they aren’t publishing hard impartial facts?
My world, it’s upside down. 😛
-
THIS JUST IN; WORLD IS UPSIDE DOWN.
-
-
Never been to news.com.au before. Just checked it out then and read the story on Mitchell Watt saying that silver’s not that bad. About a third of the way through I get to this:
“Watt’s anger at the media was predictable, but misdirected, and was met with applause by one member of the AOC media unit.”
Real unbiased reporting there.
-
Sometimes they have the most twisted interpretations of the story just for a more alarmist headline. It works too, they’re always the most popular stories. Maybe I’ll stick to The Daily Show and Sorkin’s Newsroom. 😛
-
I just use that nine msn news site that you get redirected to after logging out of hotmail. They’re always putting down the other networks shows while talking up their own shows but for non TV related news stuff they’re pretty decent.
-
-
-
brisbanetimes.com.au is a much better alternative for Brissie news 🙂
-
Noted, thanks man! (Watched your Slender play through on the weekend. You totally needed to turn the lights down for maximum effect. Seemed to do the job any way, though. :P)
-
My wife refused to let me turn the lights off 😛

Herald Sun posted from a “Top cop” about “violent video games being the cause of violence” and I thought “Here we go again” then I saw the word “rape” in the list of things that are in our video games (WTF?!) in the article and I was basically just facepalmed. They really reach far to try and stir up the idiotic humans in our society to get their pitchforks for something that doesn’t even exist in Australia… you know cuz you already ban that stuff anyway
I think to save my internal systems from shorting out due to human stupidity in journalism I’m going to have to stop reading any form of newspapers permanently. I’ve already stopped watching news on TV years ago
-
CNN’s US website currently has features on the dangers of gaming. Man, when are the gamers going to get producer positions and stop this crap!?
-
That CNN thing was in response to a video CNN posted the other day about video game addiction in Korea (I think anyhow, not entirely sure if we’re talking about the same thing). Additional footage from that video was used to talk about how awesome Mvp is as one of the world’s most successful SC2 players.
-
-
There is no real defence from human stupidity!
-
I’m not giving up just yet!
-
-
I finished Crysis and Crysis Warhead over the weekend.
That ending in Crysis was lame. I’m all like, yeah, let’s go back to the thing and do this! And then it just ends…
I loved the antigravity bits though. That was really fun.
Overall, I liked the story in Warhead more, but the cutscene animations weren’t as good.
Anyway, the gameplay was really fun. I liked sneaking around, headshot-ing everyone using a sniper scope on the assault rifles. The levels in those games are so big. Except for the last few in Crysis. But they were still cool.
-
I didn’t really like the ending of Crysis either. Rest of the game was great though. Loved stealthing around the place.
Good morn, TAYtertots, I’ve been away from TAY for a few weeks, some of that was on purpose (long story, short version has a hospital in it), some of it wasn’t (I was on Teamspeak, the teamspeak peeps can vouch for me.
So… short story shorter, I’m going to post more (I hope) and try and get some Day Z going with the Day Z people.
Oh! I almost forgot, I’m a full-fledged radio host now, and I’m gonna be on air today, so that’s cool,
-
Hope you’re okay, man. Congrats on the hosting job!
-
Feeling a whole lot better than when I went in, to be sure
-
-
Wow congrats on the hosting job numbers! If only I could listen in from here
-
More listeners would be great since we’re community radio (pretty much means not for profit), but it’s a real shame none of you guys can listen in
-
You guys got a radio stream I can hook up online on?
-
And I quote: “not for profit”
here’s the website if you want though http://www.5yyy.com.au/
-
-
-
-
That is so awesome!
-
The posting, the hospital or the radio?
-
Or maybe the DayZ?

Howdy Tayberinos
I went on a trip to the Flinders Ranges this weekend, I had a lovely time, and climbed a mountain. Today, I am a very sore person.
So a Monday Morning question: What is your favourite videogame mountain? Either a mountainous level/setting or an actual in-game mountain. Mine is Mount Chiliad from GTA San Andreas, mainly for the fact you can mountain bike up then parachute off
-
Oh, man. I loved exploring Mount Cardou and the surrounds in Gabriel Knight 3. Helped there was a mystery a-foot, though. Bloodlines, heracy and the holy freakin’ grail, man. 😛
-
*heresy
-
-
Skyrim? that had mountains
-
I hate mountains in games because they usually mean snow areas, which I dislike.
Skyrim had horrible mountains/terrain. There, I said it. 😛
If I had to choose a favourite… Death Mountain. Or maybe the ones in Just Cause 2. Anything that isn’t a pain to climb and doesn’t have snow.
-
Mount Hyjal in World of Warcraft.
-
I liked the pre-wrath Hyjal. As in the Caverns of Time raid. The Archimode fight was great.
-
Yeah, I liked the raid, and the actual mountain when you had to glitch the game to get in there 😛
-
Man, glitching the game to get there was rad. Took me half an hour of running up a wall, I get inside, start wandering about, and I see another guy. He’s all “You didn’t see me here!” to which I responded “See who where?” and he responded with “Exactly!”
Cool story, then I found ten dollars.

Mount Olympus in GoW 3 was pretty cool.

I loved God of War 3, I should re-play that game soon.

Spiral Mountain!
Brace yourself Sydney – Only 2 days! Now might be a good time to arrange a sister’s hairdresser’s goldfish funeral that you have to attend.
-
Only 2 days until we both
invadevisit Sydney, though I’ll be there tomorrow through till Thursday 🙂-
And then I tag in and am there from Friday through till Monday!

I’M OUT

I should probably start organising myself for the 18th…

Lemme know if Billy Talent play any new songs :).

Looking forward to it :)!

I am flushing Sir Bubbles to the great Fish Bowl in the sky as we
mix metaphorsspeak.
Good morning all,
The last month has been insane and epic.
I have returned and bring tales of awesome, so many awesome.
But before all that, what did I miss? 🙂
-
DayZ… you missed lots of DayZ
-
DayZ eh? Any changes or just more DayZ in general?
-
-
Nothing at all. Proceed with the story telling, damn it 😛
Morning all! o/
Morning All.
My weekend involved lots of gaming. Finally finishing Deus Ex (the first one).
I also convinced my housemate to play a couple of card games I’m addicted to, Dominon and Infiltration (Links shortly) I also went to my weekly board games group. Went and partied in gaytown until 4:30am sunday morning.
I spent yesterday grumpy and Hungover.
Today – Interview!
Tomorrow – Better Interview!
-
Dominion – http://bit.ly/7ITZN3
An excellent and addictive Deck building game, Essentially you want to buy as many victory cards as possible, but to do that you’ll need to buy one of the 10 random other cards that come into play. It’s very rare that you’ll play the same game twice, unless you engineer it so.Infiltration – http://bit.ly/LZcYpM
A very good adventure into a corporate building in a cyberpunk dystopian future to steal data chips!
Everyone wants to go in and steal as many chips as you can and get out before security arrive.
Each room is represented by a card, and whilst there are only ever 13 cards in play in one game, there are 34 cards in the box, which once again provides for alot of difference in each game. Also if anyone is interested in joining on the board gamery I’m always up for Board games!
-
Good luck at the interviews, man. Here’s hoping you get the one you want. 😛
-
Good luck man. I hope you get the job you want.
NEW TAY \o/
It’s so fresh and clean, like a new shirt. Which means it’s not quite as comfortable as the old TAY just yet. I’m sure if I wear it for a few days straight, and don’t shower, it’ll come good!
-
Hope this Picnic Day is treating you well, buddy. Any picnic’s on the horizon? 😛
-
I may or may not still be in bed*, so I may or may not be aware of and picnics going on**.
I’m OK with this***.*I am.
**I’m not.
***I feel like a lazy dirtbag.-
Eh, it’s what public holidays are made for. Just eat something in bed and that’ll classify as a picnic.
-
-
So how does one get involved with DayZ antics?
-
1. Spend 12 hours getting it to update and install the mod.
3. Spend 2 hours looking for a server.

For a more useful response….
Buy ARMA2 CO from Steam.
Download 6Launcher/Updater from DayZ website
Run ARMA2 once so that it installs properly
Run 6Launcher – let it do it’s thing
and then play.As for servers, I found the best way is to use 6Launcher (or DayZ Commander) to launch the game (doesn’t matter what server) then just use the in-game server browser. I used to think it was crap but then I learnt to use the Filter tool. I think the browser struggles with the high number of servers, but if you put in a ping filter of say 300, and I usually use the letters “NZ” or “AU” you end up with a very quickly updating list of the best servers.
Alternatively use the filter to type in the exact name of a sever to find friends – eg “US 1324” etc-
Only spend 2 hours looking for a sever if you’re super scared of other people and refuse to play on any server with more than 15 players…..
The only servers I avoid are the ones which run night time with no moonlight = pitch black screen.

hello everyone!
has an email gone our about Gorzy/Pyrean/Steve-O meat this Sat?
-
out*
-
Gorzy said he’d do it yesterday.
I do not think he did.
True story.-
thanks Bish, you ever-so-helpful guy you!
-
-
Who’s this…penicl…pig…guy…thing…? 😛
-
I dunno, some fat dude in cosplay.
-
I don’t know. Get the oar.
-
HA!
-
-
-
Hi harli. How are you?
I just checked my email and I think I got it. So yes.
-
hi MASHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
I am well thank you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the podcast too 🙂 really appreciate all the feedback!
Whatttt I did not receive an email! i’ll email Gorzy soon!
-
-
Are all the Sydney people’s emails in the Klutar friday night meat email? I don’t actually know when Gorzy and Pyrean were planning on having it, or where they live…But I have a pretty picture!
-
They should totally do it Friday. After we all go out, we can go there!
-
Both nights!
-
-
-
Oh and F4ction will be there too! \o/
-
OMFG I FINALLY GET TO MEAT HIM!
-
So it’s happened…
After 4 glorious years – my Xbox 360 has red ringed as of yesterday 🙁
What do i do now, guys???
Can i take it to get repaired?
Am i better off waiting and replacing it?
If i replace it, do i buy new or buy a preowned?
sad sad times..
-
Wait for cheap Slim deals :)! I think they were $250 with Kinect with games and a 320GB HD with Lego Star Wars a few months back, that’s the best deal for the Slim so far.
-
I got an Xbox 360 slim for $150 at the Boxing Day sales, I think it’d be better to buy new. I’m sure they’ll be some good prices soon. Also remember to transfer all your downloadable content licences to your new console. You can do it easily on Xbox.com. Annoying thing to happen, man.
-
Oops forgot you’re Chuloopa! Silly me just win one in a competition 🙂
-
-
Sorry to hear that.
If you have another console or PC to tide you over then just wait for a sale on a new console.
Got a week and a half off work. Methinks that means I should get out of the house, be offline and stuffs.
-
That’s just crazy talk, my friend. It goes against my hermit code. 😛
-
Hermit code is best code!
-
-
There’s an OFFline?
-
There is a myth among my people…
-
I was about to post asking why there are no page numbers at the top and bottom of the page…. then I realised we are still on page 1…. sad times
-
HA I was just thinking to my self how funny would it be if my post about page 1 became the page get for page 2.
Now to win that lottery…-
ha ha,.
-
I’m watching Siglemic go for the 120 Star Mario 64 World Record right now.
He already beat it today but wasn’t happy, so he’s going to keep going.
-
How likely is it that he’ll still be goin in an hour and a half?
Probably nil
-
Was watching this yesterday… or the day before? Dont remember haha. But he beat it you say? So he actually holds the record again?
PEZ WANTS ALL OUR MONEYS, GO FORTH AND HELP HIM

Oh yeah thats right, thats up today! Woooo!
I did something awful.
I purchase DBZ: Ultimate Tenkaichi.
-
XENOBLADE!
-
SPEC OPS?
-
SPEC OPS!
-
: THE LINE!
-
-
-
-
Actually… let me know how it goes. I’m interested!
-
Playing now. Seems to have a lot of different systems to keep track of. Every character controls the same which some might complain about but to me seems to level the field a bit. Hell, Street Fighter only really has 2 basic control schemes.
It’s fast. Damn fast. I keep losing track of where the fudge everyone is. Game is very dependent on counters and turn arounds.
Also, rather purty.
/initial impressions.

bah humbug, just fumbled a weather report, how hard is it to read a piece of paper?
Answer: pretty hard

Eeeeep. I’m sure the majority of my posts were excitable, incoherant Spec Ops endorsements. 😛

^^^^^^^^^ Too-fast-commenter extraordinaire, right here.

What can I say, my life is empty and I have no frends. So I comment. :S
-
I used to be like that!
Actually, nothing has changed, I just comment less.
Weird.
-
The weight of the world crush your spirit? 😛
-
Actually, I think I’m on a higher note now than when I was commenting all the time. 😛
-
-
-
Oh, I wasn’t having a go at you, was pointing to my own nick (got rejected at first for TOO FAST!) 😛
-
Now it all makes sense. 😛
-
-
Bam! Number 6 in my first week back, woo!
Woo cracked the top #10
So I may or may not have just ordered some right ringburners. Should be here in a few weeks.
Trinidad Scorpion, Bih Jolokia, and the 7pot BrainStrain are the standout names amongst that which I ordered. This will be fun :S
-
I had no idea what you meant by “ringburners” until I googled those names. Why must you put these images in my head!?
Anyway, what exactly did you order? Sauces or something? Fresh chillis? In any case, LIVE STREAM >:D
-
Seeds 😀
I’ll be growing them alongside the tomatos downstairs. Primarily they’ll be used as a deterrent for unwelcome intruders, as I’ll be smearing them across the fenceline and such.
Although they’ll still be used for cooking too!-
Oh yeah “tomatoes” the neighbour tried that on dad once, told him his plants were “African Tomatoes” because he was such an enthusiastic when it came to things such as tomatoes lol.
-
My father brought home an “african tomato” plant when he was my age, and asked his mother if she could plant and care for it, as she was an avid gardener. She still doesn’t know why it never came to fruit…
-
HAHAHAHA, classic.
-
-
-
My brother in WA was growing the Trindad Scorpions. Made beef jerky out of them.
-
That would be some gnarly jerky! Holy moly :S
-
It’s fairly insane, yeah. So very delicious with a good beer. I think. You can’t really taste anything ever again after….
-
-
Hell yeah I did/am!!
-
Okay, I am back at work at the last dregs of my jetlag it casing 3:30-itis to start at 12 instead.
Gotta load up on coffee, stat.
Anyways, the US was awesome!
Seattle, LA, Disneyland, San Diego, Vegas, Hollywood, San Francisco, and back to LA. What a freaking blast it all was, the absolute highlight for me was spending four days at San Diego Comic Con. Going to talks and seeing all the cosplayers by day, and going to all manner of Con parties by night. Loved it.
I wish I could offer a more detailed description but I don’t have enough time in my lunch hour to write everything, you can check out a lot of photos we took on the trip here: http://californiatour2012.tumblr.com/
But here are a few random things that I will hold as fond memories from the trip:
-Seeing Frankie O’Connor while on a plane to Seattle
-TopPot coffee and doughnuts are top tier breakfast
-Staying at Disneyland until midnight, then arriving first thing the next day to ride all of the rides
-COMICCON! Checking out gameplay footage of Fortnite and almost bumping into CliffyB on the show floor (he’s kinda short IRL)
-COSPLAYERS! COSPLAYERS EVERYWHERE!
-Shooting machine guns at paper zombies in Vegas
-Gambling for a week at vegas and somehow breaking even
-Naked people walking down the street in San Fran
-Visiting the California State Fair and eating deep fried cheesecake and deep fried twinkies on a stick
-Checking out an LA baseball game and almost getting hit by a foul ball
Damn there are so many other awesome things to share, like all the games I got to try and see in action at ComicCon:
Fall of Cybertron (basically the demo thats out now online)
Resident Evil 6
Hybrid
DMC
Forza Horizon
Aliens Colonial Marines
Assassins Creed 3
Okay I’ll stop there, but yes the US is awesome and I highly recommend it to anyone thinking of taking a trip overseas sometime 🙂
Now then, back to work 😛
-
Sounds incredible. Go to Carsland, man? The theme park enthusiast in me wants to know all the details. 😛
-
Cars Land was way too packed for us to get into, so we went on California Screamin’ about three times instead 🙂
-
It only opened about a month back. Disney in the American summer is quite the experience at the best of times, so new attractions would be a nightmare I imagine. I loved California Screamin’, did you check out Knott’s Berry Farm as well? Ghost Rider is probably the best wooden coaster I’ve ever been on.
-
Nah didn’t head to Knotts, we hit up Disneyland, California Adventure Land and Universal. Bloody awesome time despite the summer holiday crowds 🙂
-
Sounds like it, man. I’m all kinds of jealous. Gonna hit up your pictures. Which guy is you?
-
The one with the moustache 🙂
-
-
-
So jealous. Those photos! D:
Going to Universal Studios is #1 on my bucket list. And there’s only one thing on my bucket list. That Jurassic Park ride! Hook it to my veins!
-
That Jurassic Park ride was epic, just prepare to get wet, really really wet.
But the TRANSFORMERS ride at Universal was superior to everything else there by far, it was god-damn amazing 😀-
Is that the plane crash from War of the Worlds in the Universal picture?
-
Why yes, yes it is 😀
-
-
Needs more videos of Pupplylicks going Calllii-forrrrr-niiiaaaa.
-
I did go to California and play games, just not Super Mario 3 😛
Wow, it sounds and looks like a fun trip. Good to know you’re back home safe 🙂
WELCOME BACK!
Now play some Mechwarrior with me!
Finished Spec Ops: The Line last night after a lot of swearing. That final action sequence was brutally difficult. Really don’t like how accurate the enemies are, you go down way too easily and the checkpointing is terrible.
Other than issues with difficulty I really liked the game. The plot was really interesting, and does a pretty good job at making you feel really shitty about everything you do, in a particularly confronting way. Not entirely sure what was going on by the end though, it got pretty strange. Still, glad I puchased it and very glad I finished it, I haven’t played a shooter that left me thinking about the implications & message its story had in years.
-
What difficulty you on?
-
‘Combat Op’. It’s not that hard, it’s spiky and half the time it feels like you’ve died because of a trivial mistake that should be recoverable from, eg you’ve been shot by a million guys because you leaned out of cover for a second. And then you have to repeat the whole fucking section again. Really annoying when eg they pull out one of those heavy guys at the end of a firefight. Those guys are way too hard to kill.
-
I agree, did get very hard but I don’t neccessarily think it’s a failing of the game. To me it kind of symbolized the stakes and how far you came, the desperation and all that. (Or, hey, I might just be a fan boy unwilling to accept that any thing is wrong with it. Who can say? :P)
-
It’s poor AI / encounter design and flawed gameplay. I especially hate the way if your companions get shot you have to stand out exposed to heal them, it pulls the camera away and then twists it around so you can’t get back to cover quickly. That’s just straight up broken IMO.
The upside to the gun accuracy is that yours is just as accurate. I found I was using the M4A1 almost the whole game, simply because of how easy it was to pop a headshot from distance, and how quickly it would drop guys even if you missed the head.
-
416. Two shots anywhere and they’re down. Selectable scope was great too. Always had one as second weapon.
-
For a game that’s so much about the ethics of war, I sure got a lot of achievements for gun related reasons. Not sure how I feel about that.
-
-
-
Crap. I’m super stuck at the point after the tower penthouse (is that a spoiler? Not even exactly it.) on Suicide Mission and knowing there’s a bigger spike later is a little disheartening.
-
Turning the difficulty setting down isn’t a blow to your street cred. If you find yourself not having fun then what’s the point in struggling? (Later on, I mean.)
-
I don’t really care what anyone else thinks, it more the disappointment in myself I get. I’m way too harsh on myself.
-
I know that feeling…
-
-
-
Is that the bit with the boats in the sand? The start of that bit was annoyingly hard because of the heavy.
-

Whenever I post ROT13, the site eats it 🙁
-
Too bad. Probably not the place for a deconstruction any way. That’s why I’ve got my sister playing the game, so I can ramble about theories. 😛
-
I’m going to talk in paraphrase and hope you understand what I mean.
There is sequence mid game in which you use something that causes something to happen that you wouldn’t want to happen. I could actually see it was going to (I could see them on the screen), but the game literally doesn’t give you a choice if you want to progress. I tried three times to fight through without using that, especially since your guys with you say there’s ‘always a choice’ but there actually isn’t. I think that’s kind of a cool touch, you’re literally unable to choose not to do it, despite that there should be a choice. That sort of conflicted feeling you get over it is brilliant, games normally don’t even attempt to evoke that.
I wish ROT13 worked for, I want to talk about the ending. 🙁
Main take-away from the game: White Phosphorus is a fucking horrible weapon and absolutely should be banned.

I know the part. I was all HA HA owned until I realised what happened. I feel weird playing renegade in mass effect so that part affected me a fair bit.
-
They’d already shown what the result was going to be. I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t have a choice. Literally didn’t have a choice. Working as intended.
I guess it’s the same sort of conflicted feeling that Shadow of the Colossus evokes.
-
One of the most powerful moments for me was later in the game when:

Is that because of the presence of Freeze? It’s because of Freeze isn’t it.

Yes

Called it.

So weekend was good, had my first real gaming session in a couple of months. I have been playing a bit but haven’t really had the multiple hour sit down and smash some gaming situation recently.
Mostly playing SR3 and can see why people have been having so much fun with it. It just has that crazy kinda wildness to it. I think a lot of it has to do with the no penalty to dying. If you are on a mission fair enough you fail, but if you are just exploring there is nothing to stop you going in guns blazing or trying to crash a plane into a bunch of enemies. Finding that some of the missions are a bit bit and miss, I’m really enjoying the Genki bowl missions (no so much the PR driving) and opposed to may people here i like the heli assult missions. Struggling with insurance fraud atm but maybe I just need to work out the trick.
I also just discovered that you can hijack cars through the windscreen so that is my go to method of getting into a car now.
Also continued with some darkspore and tried out the latest penny arcade: RSPOT. Finding it very lacking compared the the previous two versions. The previous two games I played with my wife and she enjoyed that but there is something about this format that makes the interaction of a second person less interesting. The writing appears tight and there has been some amusing one liners but not sure if it is going to be one we continue to play together which is a shame.
I’m Batma- Catwoman?? http://i1206.photobucket.com/albums/bb449/lamboman007/TDKR4.jpg
-
Catman? Batwoman? I’m confused…
-
Oh dear…
This might have been said before, but does anybody know what time the Mars Rover landing will be on Xbox Live? I’m on Sydney time btw. Cheeeeeeeers!
-
The landing is set to take place at 3:31pm (AEST) today,
-
Thanks mate, time to take the old fella out of its box.
-
Wow, silly me. Found this.
-
I’m not sure getting your penis out will help.
But each to their own I suppose.-
People gotta pee ya know.
-
It’s not everyday such an amazing thing happens, it is quite exciting
-
-
-
Ultimate Tenkaichi has cutscenes of completely redone anime and they look fantastic. Watching the scene where Grandpa Gohan finds Goku ha made me really want a complete reworking of it. (so much work for so little return. Never going to happen)
-
Today I bought the last disk set for DBZ Kai, and that gets me thinking; what voice does that game use for Freeza? Chain-smoking granny Freeza, or slightly-less chain-smoking androgynous Freeza?
-
Neither. They rerecorded it all. Closer to chain smoking androgynous.
-
Where from and how much for all of them?
-
Song Highlights from The Numbers Show (It’s not really called that)

PLAY AFRICA NEXT TIME 🙂-
I didn’t pick it, the computer did, at least there was other Cat Stevens
-
You don’t get to pick the music?
-
I can change/add a few songs if I want to, but it’s mostly predetermined playlists
-
-
-
-
Nice. He’s gonna step on you again is an underrated pub-rock classic.
-
Steppenwolf, I approve.
-
It almost wasn’t played, and I was like “Hell no”, then I made it play, and then, I found $10!
True Story
-
I hope everyone is watching:

-
I’ll leave it to others to work out if I am.
-
Fuck yeah I am.
Work can wait! -
A lot more young folks at NASA than I would’ve thought.
-
Hey man, astrophysics are all the rage with the kids these days.
-
-
watching with lots of excitement!
-
I need to use the toilet but I don’t want to miss it!
-
THERE IS A GUY WHO WORKS FOR NASA WHO HAS A MOHAWK! STEREOTYPES BROKEN!
-
He’s probably the geologist that gets lost like in Prometheus.
-
It looks pretty new. Almost like he knew he’d be being watched by, oh, just about the whole world.
Also the Willie Nelson/Gandalf hybrid a few seat down is looking mad relaxed considering a couple of million dollars of technology could have just crashed into the side of a mountain.
-
Hah, that’s what I thought as well. Sneaky bugger.
I don’t remember any of the other guys. Just the mohawk.
-
-
-
“Within spitting distance” they be getting technical
-
yeah I liked that too
-
-
So many Macbooks!
-
Hey for this kind of job I’d prefer Macs actually. Who wants a BSOD during THAT?! 😛
-
-
Time to find some Forerunners!
-
Waittttt what just happened?!
-
WHOOOOOOO! happened.
-
-
A wheel, an alien planet. Awesome. 😀
So that Game of Thrones thing. It’s already screened in Oz on pay tv yes?
So why then is it not being released on DVD til March next year?!?!?!
man. this is why piracy happens.
-
Hey #35
Its good
you should watch it-
Hey Rockets
Season one is great
I want to watch season two
I was hoping to do it legally
this will no longer happen.-
Hey #35
It is legal grey area
Fuck the po po
But not really cause they are hard working people who deserve our respect
except the dirty cops in the dark knight.
Those guys suck.-
Spoilers, man! C’mon!
-
Hey Rocketman
Cops are tops
I agree with your statement regarding the Dark Knight bent cops.
they’re jerks.

-
There’s iTunes, but yeah, not ideal. It’s almost like they WANT you to- uh-
Good show.

Ok, okok, bear with me here. The Opportunity rover is still vaguely operational, and derping about Mars, doing what it does.
Imagine how heartbreaking it will be for it to see Curiosity. Curiosity is twice its length, weighs far more, and is far, far smarter. Opportunity has lost its twin, it trudges about doing critical work that nobody else will. It just keeps going. And it’s been replaced.
-
No robot likes being replaced after slaving away for humans doing what it’s supposed to do… for them!
:'( -
Or… now it’s got a friend to conspire with. Optimism! 😛
-
First, Mars. Then the Universe!!!!!
-
Yeah, I was considering posting it like that.
But then I remembered this: http://xkcd.com/695/
-
That’s heartbreaking. :S
-
You made me cry now Blaghsy… why?! :'(
-
Don’t worry, he’ll be in the Smithsonian some day, hopefully soon. Admired in awe.
-
I’m getting a drink of water to toast to the Opportunity. A toast to you, fellow robot
-
-
-
Wow, that strip is sad. Poor robot. 🙁
-
…WALL-E?
:'(
-
Are you implying a beautiful love story between them?
-
You never know. Maybe one day they’ll return to Earth and liberate us from our hovering fat chairs.
-
They can try, but I’m not giving my chair up without a fight.
-
Fine, keep it 😛
-
-
I wonder if they have Powerlinx technology.
How do you think the Viking probes felt then? They were left stranded there all alone for nearly two decades.
-
Yeah, but they were only operational for ~6 years. At least they weren’t around to see their replacements.
-
Blaghman, I’m not liking your new avatar. I keep being tricked into thinking you’re somebody else. 😛
-
Don’t worry, I’ll only keep it for a few days. Just wanted to get hype about Curiosity.
-
That is all.
-
-
Just got accused of being a peadophile for carrying my 15 month old daughter on my side and supporting her under her bum.
/o\. This is why I hate mingling with the general populace. They’re all rather on the impaired side.
-
Resist the urge to punch ’em right in the face?
-
Were they being serious or were they being an idiot?
-
Serious. Some woman in her 50’s as I was walking out of daycare.
I’d like to know how I’m supposed to carry her. By the foot? In a bag?
-
I heard you’re supposed to carry them by their hair.
-
Nah man, ankles. So that you can dip them in special water and they’ll become Achilles or whatever.
-
-
You should told the lady that you’re actually into older ladies and winked at her.
-
-
-
People like that are not worth your time.
-
What?! That’s just silly.
-
Tell her to take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut
-
Yeah this.
What a moronic woman.
-
-
What a dumb bitch. She sounds like the sort who would call any adult male a paedophile for being the company of a child, tbh.
TAY! I call upon all cunning culinary keymasters amongst us, for the mightiest of tasks!
OK, so I’m planning on nugget-izing (or at least deep-frying) every dinner this week. Just go with it.
But I’m really not good with the whole logistics thing. I mean, lamb loinchops? HALP!
-
Take the meat off the bones and chop it finely, mixing with herbs and spices like coriander(fresh and ground), cumin and minced garlic. Roll into ball/nugget shapes and coat with breadcrumbs. Serve with a sauce made of natural yoghurt, lemon juice, and more fresh coriander, along with more minced garlic(no more than 1 clove) and parsley if you have any.
-
Stop it, Strange! That sounds delicious and it’s not time for dinner yet!
-
Oh you’re good. YOU’RE GOOD.
Thank’ee, miss Strange ^.^
-
My dinner of crappy Spag-Bol is looking so pathetic now. 🙁
-
I had Hashbrowns. 😛
-
I still need to put the love and care* into making mine.
*Love and care are codewords I use for any meal where I can chuck things onto the stove, and clean the kitchen while they cook.
-
Still, the makings of real food. I haven’t eaten Spag Bol since I got food poison in London and vomited about 15 times in twelve hours. And there goes everyone’s appetite colletively. 😛
-
Nope, I’m still hungry.
-
-
-
-
Tell me about it! It doesn’t help that I only have one of the ingredients listed there as well!
So, our internet is capped until next week…
Also, I’ve realised that I have a uni assignment due in tonight.
…damn. 🙁
-
Grim.
Your capped internet is probably still faster than the dialup access I had while I was studying. 😛
HI TAY!
*doesn’t haven anything else to contribute*
-
That’ll do, bat.
That’ll do.-
LA LA LAAA
-
-
GOOD EVENING!
How’s it going?
-
Pretty good, man. Yourself?
-
Pretty darn good thanks!
-
-
-
Well well, look who has come crawling back.
I’M ALIVE! I PROMISE!
I’ve been busy with the cosplay, so busy I haven’t been able to take photos, sorry
-
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! HI!
So um, just saw from AJ Maddah (Soundwave founder) that tickets are going to be around 187 dollars for next year, SERIOUSLY?!
They’d want to have a damn good line up with 2 solid headliners. Since Slash won’t be on the line up it’s a bit meh already for me.
So premium that if they told you the brand they’d have to kill you.
-
Based on the shape in the picture it’s a Seagate.
-
But I can pick up reputable brand name 1TB portables with USB 3.0 around here for that price…
-
I picked up a Seagate 1.5TB USB3 drive from Dick Smith a couple of weeks ago for $99.
Granted, it is a powered drive, but it doesn’t have a huge power brick, just a normal cable to the power outlet. Might not be ideal if you need to use it with a laptop on the go, but just fine for everything else.Certainly perfect for transferring my backup files to my friend’s house for “off-site storage” and collecting my friend’s files for “off-site storage” at my house while I’m there 😉
It’s the smart thing to do, right?
Got a galaxy s3 today! It’s very fancy
It’s my first proper smartphone, so I hope it’s gentle to me 🙂
-
I love my mates one, they’re great!
Ahahaha. Just as I beat the last kingdom before going after Nobunaga, I have a ninja tell me there’s a rare Pokemon in the park in Viperia. It’s another Eevee!! Now I just have to train it up, evolve it to a glaceon and let it rip through Nobunaga’s dragons. Couldn’t have worked put better if I planned it
-
I also have a perfect link Froslass for double the icy carnage
@Strange
That yoghurt dip/side thing for the lamb balls is AMAZING. You are a goddess.
-
I’m assuming its lamb mince in ball form and not lamb scortum
GOOOOD Morning TAY!! I got here finally. Whats that? oh its evening… OTL
-
That feel, I know that damn feel 🙁
I’m sorry I haven’t been talking much /o\
I’ve spent most of my days sewing and unpicking, trying to get this cosplay finished and as close to perfect as possible.
It leaves me quite tired. =(
-
Is it going well? How close to finished are you?
-
How goes the costume making Scree?
Are you on a deadline?
Best of luck with it all if I don’t hear back 😀-
I asked her this yesterday and I think the event she’s going to starts in 3 weeks (safe to assume she’ll want it done by then :P)
Also no need to apologise for not talking that much scree! *SPRAY*
-
Forgive my ignorance, but what/who are you making ?
-
I’m gonna assume that was meant for scree. She’s making the outfit worn by Elizabeth in the Bioshock Infinite trailer/demo
-
If you don’t mind me asking, Gabbleduck are you new here?
If so -> welcome!
If not -> ignore this 😛
Re: fled mentioned The Curiosity Show on the last page.
Anyone else remember this show?
It was my favourite show when I was about 8 or 9 – maybe older.
My primary school teacher even allowed a few friends and I to form a little ‘science club’ where we could attempt to recreate some of the things featured on the show. This started out as a lunch-time activity, but eventually it evolved into a private little science class of 4 or 5 students overseen by the School Principal. We learned fun things about electronics, biology and physics (alas, no chemistry for 9-year-olds) using simple experiments designed by us with the help of the Principal.
The ‘science club’ was held during normal class time, but I have no idea what lessons it was decided we could do without in order to participate. We were the only takers, so it must have been during some lesson or class activity that everyone thought was fun.
Science is fun!
-
Science is fun! Writing up proper pracs and other blergh stuff, not so fun! 😛 (I am bestest Chemistry drop out)
As for the Curiosity Show? I Googled it and it was produced from 1972-1990 so it ended 3 years before I was born :/. Never heard of it before now but it sounds pretty good. I miss watching those young kiddy learning shows, they were always so interesting and entertaining. There was this Science type show I watched as a kid as well, I think it’s called “The Big Bang” (not sure if anyone remembers it).
-
I never had the chance to write up proper pracs and stuff. By the time I was old enough for that my high school experience had utterly ruined science for me as a school subject. Get enough bad teachers in any subject you’re bound to be put off!
@ Greendude – Stop making me feel old! I went to Mana Bar last weekend dammit! Haha!
-
I don’t think I was even 18 when it opened 🙂
Yeah, dodgy teachers can ruin subjects and that’s what happened with me and Science/Chemistry. We had to do a general science subject until year 11 when we could branch off into different areas (psychology, biology, chemistry, physics) or just drop it all together.
At least in the early years teachers pretty much wrote the theoretical prac part out for us and all we had to do was just experiment. Mixing random stuff, dissecting things, taking care of mice and Bunsen burners ftw!
And then it got crap 😛
-
-
I used to watch the shows they had on ABC every school morning from 10 to 12. The Number Crew and the one with the bunyip were probably my favourites. And then I watched Scope with Dr Rob which was cool because I went to some of the CSIRO workshop thingys they had, back when he was doing them. I still can’t believe I turned down an opportunity to do one of the science experiments on that show though /o\
-
You turned down an opportunity to be on TV? Crazy lambo!
Can’t say I remember those shows (I would’ve been at school during those times though). My morning shows consisted of whatever Cheez TV had :).
-
-
What the H***, Comment mods, I made three comments during the 12:30 – 2:30 time period and I still cannot see them, and now the page has gone on, and now no one will ever read them
I’m gonna go cry myself to sleep now
-
I read them!
My hands, so cold
Jumped on Dead Rising 2 last night and finally put in the effort to grab appropriate weapons and take out that god damned chef. Easily the most annoying psycho so far, though I’m about to take on Slappy, sooo….
-
Yeah, that Chef was a hctib elttil.
Now I feel like playing Dead Rising 2 more. I never did get very far in it…
-
It’s a pretty awesome game, and even more so in co op. I’ve played some co op with Pez and it was great! In fact, I imagine that co op would make most psychos pretty easy…
-
I think the best part was the pen I got with the slightly special edition. That pen was excellent.
And then I lost it. 🙁
-
-
I feel like I could sit down in a crimson velvet lined mahogany chair, light a cigar and sip a fine single malt with this new refreshed TAY.
-
It’s 9 in the morning and I’m fantasizing about drinking straight scotch the going into elaborate detail of the environment I’m drinking it in.
Yolo (You only liver-fail once)
Good morning TAYbers! I had a series of nightmares last night! They all involved waking up in the middle of the night and seeing things watching me sleep. It wasn’t very fun! Wait… it didn’t actually happen right? D:
Also, I’ve had ‘Baby Got Back’ stuck in my head all morning…
-
Sorry you just look so peaceful when you sleep.
I mean … nope that didn’t happen.
-
morning pow!
Funny you should mention nightmares, i also had nightmares last night…though mine was minecraft themed.
Perhaps my brain is telling me i play it too much…Nah…
-
Obviously the problem is, that you’re not playing it enough. =P
-
That’s a very nice dream you have there… SSSSSSSSSS!
-
Don’t joke! That’s what it was like, plus zombies swarming me and trying to chow on down…
HORRIFYING!
-
-
-
you should get this baby got back in your head instead
that’s better right?
-
Hahaha. I don’t know about better, but it was certainly different.
-
I’m going to have this version in my head now…
-
-
hahaha I like it
My wife, not a fan based on the look I got
-
-
Someone’s got footage of Sughly singing that, I think.
-
Lies!
-
Morning Fronds!
Feel pretty blegh today so I am at home
Tech Knight is currently now in Sydney sitting in class 🙂
\o/
-
Tecknight refers to itself in 3rd robot?
-
It’s called a notification/log that I chose to share 🙂
-
-
I will provide you with league winnings on your return! Have fun up thar (which would be a struggle given it’s a class, GRRR).
-
Thank you human brother 🙂
-
I’m getting kind of worried about Darksiders 2. Recently a lot of the info coming out about it has seemed like they’ve decided to throw away the Legend of Zelda feel and make it into a generic loot-focused brawler. 🙁 I hope I’m wrong.
-
I think the Zelda feel will still be there, they are just adding the loot aspect on top of the base game.
What worries me though, is that like saints row 3, this game will have a bunch of DLC (sometimes needless) as THQ tries to raise as much money as possible from each game.
-
They’re talking New Game+ and stuff. How can New Game+ work unless you’ve gone to a different game format?
-
Apparently you ‘retain skills and equipment’ in New Game+. So it sounds like they’ve gone to shitty generic action RPG territory. All the PR around the game the last 3-4 months has been talking about how they ‘fixed’ various ‘problems’ with the first game, many of which were what I liked about Darksiders.
I’ve had it preordered on Steam since January or so, not really that worried, but it really sounds like I’m going to be disappointed the more I hear about it.
-
They sorta had that for Darksiders with the Abyssal armour, but not with equipment. I’m still pretty keen for it, even if it shifts towards a more action-style of gameplay…as long as they keep the puzzles.
[Darksiders 1 SPOILERS]
NAQ ARIRE RIRE RIRE OEVAT ONPX GUNG SEVPXVA CBEGNY THA!
-
I knew what your ROT13 was going to say before I converted it. Agree, that thing sucked. Also wish the mask had had more uses, if only because War looked amazingly badass with Abyssal Armor + the Mask.
-
I guess if they add more weapon upgrade drops or something and have the same skill unlocking systems, then they could still have the Zelda-style addon unlocking stuff and puzzle room layouts and everything without breaking the game that much. Really hope so. Still pretty excited for it.
-
-
-
Weird, I was just talking about it and there’s an article discussing THQ’s digital plans
http://au.ign.com/articles/2012/08/07/thq-eyes-digital-sales-for-return-to-profit-discusses-next-gen
-
-
i got darksiders 1 because of Playstation plus, is it worth playing?
-
If you like Zelda (puzzle action adventures) and God of War (beat em up type combo action adventures) then yes.
Most of the negative points it received was because it copied so much from other series but I think it’s more of a positive.
-
Copying some of the best games ever and executing the result well should never be considered a bad thing.
-
BUT IT’S NOT ORIGINAL ALL GAMES HAVE TO BE 100% ORIGINAL AND NOT TAKE AND IMPROVE ASPECTS FROM OTHER GAMES!!!!!!!!!
/sarcasm
Same sort of flak Castlevania: Lords of Shadow got for being too much like God of War and whatnot. I really liked that game too. Sure it wasn’t a Metroidvania but it was still a solid action adventure!
-
I hated LoS. Not because it was a clone of other games, but because it was frustratingly unfair and difficult to the point of being unfun.
-
On the default difficulty I never had problems (once I figured things out). There was a certain combo of attacks you could just use over and over again to get through most areas. Only stupid/hard/annoying thing about the game were those ‘titans’/colossi…
-
-
-
Yes.
Unless you hate 3D Zelda / Metroid games and/or are a terrible person.
I hope not… the Zeldaness was the best 🙂
Good thing I got it pre-ordered at EB (stupid retailer exclusive DLC) so at least I can return it if it’s disappointing.
(bored ramblings ahead)
This lecture is so boring… The guy takes 5 minutes to talk about a single sentence on the lecture slides :(. I HATE it when lectures go for the full 2 hours, especially when I have 2 in a row. Soooo hungry and bored :'(!
Also Tuesday is take away night, what should I have!? KFC (Allstars), McDonalds (some sort of large meal, OLYMPIC GLASSES), Hungry Jacks (Whopper meal I guess) or roast pork with chips from a local roast shop. Decisions decisions… I haven’t had take away for a few weeks prior to Uni starting but damnit I want my freebies from Maccas! I don’t even use the glasses but it’s like I might as well get them while I can 😛
-
There’ a lot of green here :/
@Pip – I think I’m going to play some Terraria in this lecture, going to be hard without a mouse though 😛
-
Yeah, I tried without a mouse. It sucked. I learnt that I could use my wireless mouse on my leg under the desk without it being noticeable.
Now to disguise the clicky click.
-
-
Stay strong man 🙂
-
How about all four?
-
Righto Bish.
-
I aint no Bish 🙁
-
-
Roast pork and chips sounds delicious!
(More green)
-
My vote is also for pork. Mmmm yum
-
-
I have a glass I got from McDonalds for the FIFA world cup. It’s my favourite. Go for the Olympic Glass meal. And then have the roast pork for dessert. 😛
-
So far we have 2 pink and 2 purple glasses, I want the green one!
The roast pork meal is HUGE I barely finish it by itself 😛
-
I got a batman glass we got from Maccas YEARS ago and it still sits in my kitchen cupboard.
-
-
FOOD UPDATE:
I think I’ll go Maccas for lunch and get a glass there and then roast for dinner tonight :). Thanks for helping me make the lecture a bit more bearable!
So I’ve been playing Borderlands and not really getting into it as much as I thought I would.
I think I’m almost through the first area and whilst the Runner breathes a bit of life into it, the constantly respawning enemies make it all feel a bit stale. Do you think I will enjoy this more once I get into new areas?
-
Question is are you playing co-op with friends?
I was enjoying it enough to play most of it solo but the game gets infinitely better when playing with friends. Areas are always a bit more stale but later on there’s better enemy variety but the fun starts coming when you hit higher levels and get better skills and gear. I’d say push on a bit and try playing co-op with friends (if you aren’t already) or just wait for Borderlands 2 which seems to be superior in almost every way.
-
Nah singleplayer. I figured I’d try co-op when I started getting the hang of it. Is there still a big community playing online?
-
I never played with randoms but I know a lot of TAYbies have the game and shouldn’t mind playing again.
-
-
-
Yeah, I’ve been playing on my own as well and I’m enjoying it but I agree with Greenius it’s much better in co-op.
If you don’t have any friends to play with then make sure you play it while listening to podcasts. The story is basically non-existent and podcasts help.If you need a co-op partner and you’re playing on PS3, we can play together if you wish. Just let me know.
-
Playing on 360 =/
-
Aww, that sucks 🙁
-
-
-
Which class are you playing? I found the game pretty fun end to end and I played solo the whole game.
-
Were you Mordecai /Hunter? (the bird one). I played as him and he’s so fun (and overpowered).
-
Yeah, I played Mordecai and he’s pretty good. But I also previously had played through about 1/3 of the game as the Siren as well. Her abilities were a lot less useful however.
-
I have a 50ish Siren and she’s incredibly powerful. I can take out an entire swarm of enemies without shooting or melee (and usually with only one phase).
I think the best/worst awards have to go to Brick. He’s so over the top you tend to leave everyone else behind in co op, and in solo you tear through most everything.
-
-
-
Soldier, purely because I NEVER play soldier. I always play sneak/sniper and I figured it was about time I changed things a little.
-
-
One of the last hold outs in my pile of shame, just haven’t felt like playing it.
Hey, TAY!
I have to find a copy of Mulholland Drive on DVD for a uni assignment.
I love it when I have to spend money.
/sarcasm
-
YYYYARRRGGGHHH!
-
I feel your pain… :'(
-
Pretty sure its bargain bin in most places for sub $10
Well. First rejection. Trying to look at it as a learning excercise. I know I stuffed up in the interview. *sighs*
-
Sorry to hear that. Hopefully the other interview goes well.
-
🙁 ah man, hopefully your other one(s) go better.
Good luck Chris!
-
Soon enough you’ll find something and this stuff will just be history, man. Keep your head up until then, buddy.
-
More interviews = more experience.
I recommend applying for jobs you don’t really necessarily want, just for the interview experience. If you get offers from those jobs, you can turn them down, but it helps improve your technique.
@Virus
$180 for soundwave 2013 is bullkarp. I’ve been to everyone since they started and I think 2013 will be the first year I miss. I didn’t really enjoy this years one. I think it’s getting too big and too crowded. The broken sound for limp bizkit and slipknot really ruined the day for me. And don’t get me started on idiots in the mosh… why can’t we all just stand there and enjoy the music?
2012 was the worst soundwave for me thus far and I don’t hold high hopes for 2013.
That being said – the line up is announced tomorrow morning.
-
Which Soundwave did you attend? I went to Sydney and enjoyed it immensely, but then again I caught maybe 10 mins of Limp Bizkit (who were only marginly better than Mansons pathetic attempt at putting on a show), so I wouldn’t have noticed most of the sound fails. Slipknot though, I could not fault except for when they adjusted the different channels a couple of times, but I wouldn’t say that ruined it for me .
$180 is pretty steep though, unsure on who can be headlining if charging that much….
-
TALLICA!!!!!!!!!
!!!!
!!!!!
!!!!$180 is not too much!
-
Are we going to get an article about the delusional NSW Police Commissioner blaming violent video games where you get to “stab, shoot, rape, steal from people, steal cars and run people down” on the violence in Sydney?
Yeah…he actually said that.
Just saw it on ABC24. Cue stock footage of GTA4 as well…. :/
-
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/08/take-comfort-in-your-apathy/ — Mark posted this pretty late yesterday. Just about sums the whole predicament up.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! 😛
-
That’ll learn you for getting complacent, friend. 😛
-
-
Love this article. Especially the comments afterwards.
On the plus side, in education as I am, there is a very real sense that new teachers (from our generation) are much less caught up in this crap.
Hopefully this attitude will permeate into the community in the future.
-
-
There was this posted yesterday
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/08/take-comfort-in-your-apathy/
(haven’t read it so not sure how relevant it is to the Police Commissioner’s comments but he’s mentioned)
-
Cool thanks guys. I was apathetic towards the headline so hence didn’t read the article 😉
-
Your apathy is suitable.
-
Well I’ve read it now 🙂
-
-
-
It was covered on The Project last night.
They didn’t go out of their way to defend games, but they did at least try to present both sides of the story, and they didn’t seem overly convinced by the Police Commissioner’s comments.
At the end of the day alcohol is a much bigger problem than violent video games.-
And the fact people are bastards too. Often alcohol just strips away the self-censoring. Still takes a persons sheer will to do something like that.
-
Converse sells customisable DC print shoes. There’s one design with the Riddler’s question mark that I really want.
It only ships to America.
Those bastards.
-
Well that’s unfortunate. I’ve never used these services, but if you really want the shoes you could use a mail forwarding service like VIAddress.
http://www.viaddress.com/ -
I use Shipito as a forwarding service. Used them a few times, never had a problem and their shipping rates are quite reasonable.
http://www.shipito.com -
Incidentally since we’re talking about package forwarding services used to get around shitty won’t-ship-to-your-country online sales, Tenso.com is good for getting stuff from Japan. I’ve used them a couple of times to get stuff from Amazon JP that Amazon wouldn’t ship to me.
MARIO SPEEDWAGON GONNA EFF PEEPS IN THE A TONIGHT!
Anyone in Brisbane, come along to Mana Bar for trivia tonight from 8pm.
RADICAL!
-
Mario Speedwagon is an awesome name.
-
You never told me anything about… about ‘effing’ people in the ‘a’. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with this any more…
-
BYO lube
-
Breaking Bad is the greatest thing known to man. That is all.
-
Sad, but excited it’s ending. Would rather it end earlier and still awesome than get dragged out and slowly decline.
-
Exactly. It’s better for it to end when it’s on top.
I can’t wait to watch the latest episode. I forgot to do so yesterday 🙂
-
Louie!
-
Ha ha, of course I’ll keep watching Louie, an hour has to be reserved for breaking bad though 🙂
-
-
-
My thoughts exactly. But I’m a bit annoyed they split up the season into 2 parts of 8.
Good: I get another year of BB
Bad: We have to wait longer to see the conclusion 🙁-
Yeah it’s going to be painful waiting for the next block when this one ends. But I’m very happy this is the last season, I think it’s the perfect time to work towards a conclusion. To me it’s all rounding out perfectly.
-
It’s one of the very few shows I have no idea how it will all end. you’d think they would make it a “happy” ending, but I really don’t think it fits with the show.
-
I would be very surprised if they went with a happy ending…
-
Same goes for Mad Men. Don will never be happy.
-
-
I’m pretty sure it’s going to have a tragic (in the Shakespearean sense) ending. Here’s my theory:

Sons of Anarchy is better, but Breaking Bad is still very good. Most recent episode was great.
OK, so for all you hotheads out there, I mentioned last night that I ordered some chilli seeds online.
I ordered from http://www.thehippyseedcompany.com (they only sell chilli seeds, don’t get excited :P) which is an Australian based grower/distributor. I’ll let you all know how it goes, what with postage times/customer service etc.
So far, I’ve had reasonable service and response times from them.
An order of:
Bih Jolokia (10 seeds)
Trinidad Scorpion (10 seeds)
BrainStrain 7pot (10 seeds)
Cambucci (10 seeds)
totaled $30 including postage, which seems reasonable for what I’ve ordered considering prices from international sellers.
Any other chilli lovers here?
-
I like chilli but don’t see the point of the stupidly hot ones. Seems like some kind of tough guy competition, I’m just after flavour and a reasonable amount of heat.
-
It’s more curiosity/endorphin rush at that end of the spectrum. I don’t try to hurt myself just to act macho. I’ll leave that to my idiotic mates 😛
The Cambucci I ordered is a much more mild sensation, and plenty of flavour.I gotta say though, there’s quite an appeal in growing the world’s hottest peppers.
-
The only people I know who go for insanely hot sauces regularly are either insane, heavy smokers or sri lankan.
-
I’m a regular smoker, and my sanity is yet to be determined. I’ve Scottish heritage though, so there goes the lineage argument 😛
-
-
-
-
Talk to Doc What? I almost melted after trying some sauce he brought to a meat.
-
From experience, I think 300,000-500,000 SHU is my upper limit (Read: breaking point). Admittedly, I’ve not had anything hotter than that.
50,000-100,000 SHU is probably a safer level, while still providing one helluvva kick!-
this was the stuff. accorting to the site, its ~1,463,700 Scoville Units
-
Yep, that’s freakin’ hot. The hottest sauce I’ve tried was Blair’s Ultra Death 20/20. It was… a little warm :S
-
-
-
-
Got some ghost chillis growing at home, pretty much ready to eat too 😀
-
Have you tried the Bhut before? If not, best of luck friend!
-
Well I have ghost chilli sauce, but these are my first fresh bhut chillies. I might try one out tonight actually 🙂
-
LIVESTREAM.
Or y’know, just keep us posted 😛 Fresh placenta always seems to have more fire to it. As it should.
-
-
-
-
Don’t forget to not look after them very well. The more they have to struggle to survive, the higher the heat. Or so I’ve been told.
And as for those who wonder about the point of stupidly hot ones I think it’s because the more you have, the more of a resistance you get and the hotter it needs to be for you to feel it. My husband barely notices some really hot sauces that make me feel like I’m on fire.
So my gf just got kicked off a train because she had a kitten with her. In a carrier mind you. Seriously I hate Sydney.
-
that is pretty stupid.
a cat in a carrier box gets removed. yet the countless jerks getting pissed on a friday night are free to stay.
train cops tend to be a bit useless.-
and in at least three cases i’ve witnessed, pissing said piss.
-
I was the recipient of a gastronomical expulsion from one of these idiots.
Needless to say, I’ve avoided public transport as much as possible henceforth.-
I was once witness to what my friends & I have since been calling ‘The Woy Woy Special’
I’m not gonna describe it, but just know that it was horrible.
-
I still laugh every time I hear that name.
Woy Woy Special kinda sounds ominous in this context though :S
-
the Aboriginal name for the place is / was Yow Yow. for some reason, I think that sounds a bit funnier.
-
-
-
-
Yeah no kidding. Half the commuters are worse than animals already. I would have thought a kitten would be an overall improvement.
-
kittens make everything better.
-
Hope she got onboard the next one!
-
Yeah there was one ten minutes later. She just put the kitten in her bag instead. What she’s probably going to do from now on.
I am surprised this was even a rule (I looked it up and it is). We’ve caught a bus before and the driver didn’t care we were just holding her. Urgh.
well, at least you can take some solace in the fact that most of the train cops are getting fired soon.
Though I do hope the firings preference those among them who are gutless wannabe cops with insecurity issues who feel the need to assert what little powere they have over kids on trains & leave the transit officers who are actually doing theor jobs well to continue doing so.
-
two things :
a) I apologise for the rambling nature of that last sentence, not to mention my rubbish spelling.
b) reply fail \o/ -
The very mean part of me does take solace in that.
Yo whats up just ol CJ shouting out HELLO TAY,
Saw and article in the paper today that didnt sit well with me in anyway.
Typical media spittle about da vidya games making young minds ill.
Little time to read my customers and skills in need but what I saw made my heart bleed,
largly cause Im a fan the errors got to me man
AC 3 Liberation not even released about Ezio? I thought him deceased
Most violent game of all? Sends my mind into freefall.
Anyway I believe it was expanding on that police officers statments from the other day. They had a list of 5 games my fave being AC 3 Liberation with a pic of Conner with a description about AC 2-Revelations instead.
-
Needs more discoveries of $10.
-
Ain’t no media hypetrain man
Just a popculture bandwagon.
A strike to the temple of sensibility, bang.
Seems to keep these opinions draggin’Gaems always been ’bout destruction, violence
From childhood through, I ain’t bad, holla
I abhor their warpath. Resolution? Silence.
I got 99 problems, but I found $10-
You’re an interesting guy, Aleph. I’ll give you that. A welcome addition to TAY. 😀
-
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
You win good sir.
-
-
wut?
-
dumb joke. its not a real story / story is greatly improved by finding $10 at the end.
-
ah
-
-
-
Oh reddit. What would I ever do at work without you…
If only I had the motivation to work on my CV and cover letters for the various jobs sitting in my seek shortlist….
Greetings and salutations TAY.
It is at this point that I feel it necessary to convey to you all, something extremely profound
…
…
…
Isn’t it a darn shame I don’t have anything profound to convey 😛
What up my TAY dizzles?!?
In recent Hugo news, I have started a new game in New Vegas.
That is all.
Oh, and of course, SKYRIM!
-
Oh you know. Just cruisin round on the SS Skyrim Sucks. (The SS stands for Skyrim Sucks.)
Trollface.jpg
-
I have returned and maxed out the Fall of Cyberton multiplayer demo in one day.
-
THERE’S A FALL OF CYBERTRON DEMO?!?!?!?!?!
-
HI EVERYONE!!
Obligatory “I’m alive” post!
Which means I can nothing else to say ^^;;
-
Hi Scree!
Obligatory “Who is this guy?” post =P
-
I’m not a guy, why do people keep making that mistake /o\
I think that was sarcasm. Am I doing it right?
-
Yes, it was sarcasm scree.
I keep forgetting I need to put “(sarcasm)” after my posts. =P
-
-
-
Hi scree!
How goes all the sewing and suchness?
Are your fingers all red and needle pricked?
(or are you much much better than me…?)…you’re better, aren’t you…
-
My fingers are fine, but I wouldn’t say I was better, not after managing to put a pin in my knee
-
Yep. You just can’t talk about Skyrim without also talking about taking things to the knee. 😛
-
The real question is, however…
What happened to your sweet roll?
-
-
-
I had to babysit my nephews on the weekend, which pretty much just meant sitting them in front of the Xbox and just letting them have at it, awesome minding skills I know 😛
Anywho, the games they played the most;
Transformers war for Cybertron
And Star Wars Battlefront 2
I’m so proud of the little blighters
*wipes away proud uncle tear*
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen!
-
You’re meant to start them off on the 8 bit games first! It’s what i did to my cousins
-
I hope you let them play the most violent, gruesome and rage inducing game you had, because otherwise i’d have to call you a terrible uncle =P
Also HI HUGO!
-
Battlefront 2 is the best.
Sorry for leaving it so late for the specifics but I’ve finally sent an email re this weekends meat!
I should have seen it coming. “put down for time off?” my boss says “then you can work all the shifts before it. MWHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!”
Anyway, let me know if you didn’t get it or I forgot anything.
So I’m thinking about making my wallpaper change every hour, but I want some awesome video games wallpapers. It made me think, what are some of your favourite video game wallpapers?
Mine is some of the Persona 3 and Zelda ones, of course.
-
I used this one for a while. http://cdn.wolfire.com/blog/wallpaper/WallPaper2b.jpg
-
That’s pretty awesome, but I’ve never heard of the game, what is it?
-
Overgrowth is the sequel to the 2005 indie game Lugaru. It’s been in pre-order Alpha form for like, 3 and a half years. You play as an anthropomorphic Bunny, fighting other critters. The first game was pretty damn rad, and Overgrowth is looking radder than ever.
Even it will never leave Alpha form…
http://blog.wolfire.com/ Link to their blog, in case you’re interested.
-
This vid is a nice summary on what the game is about. Funny as well 🙂 (it’s what got me interested in the game)
-
-
-
-
http://wallbase.cc/ such an awesome site for wallpaper, I recommend!
-
I do not understand this website =P
-
You search for what you’re after, think of it like Google images, but just for wallpapers!
-
But that requires thinking…Or something
-
-
-
-
At the moment this is the wallpaper I have on my desktop. It’s from the steam summer camp sale last year.
http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/12/125757/1837201-steam_sale_day_10.jpg
I just like the idea of Isaac using his suit to tell ghost stories.
I’ve had some De Blob 2 , Burnout Paradise and Prince of Persia(08) wallpapers in the past as well.
-
That is pretty awesome. Mainly because I love stuff that’s well drawn
-
Yeah the whole series of images from the steam summer camp sale last year was awesome and really well drawn. They had various video game characters participating in camp events.
Another one of my favourites was http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/12/125757/1837178-steam_sale_day_3.jpg
The idea of a meat boy burger is kind of disgusting but I would try it if given the chance 🙂
-
Gross :P. Masha the cannibal!
-
Ha Ha, cannibal? He’s a slab of meat 🙂
-
No he’s actually a boy without skin :/
(Edmund McMillen said it in Indie Game: The Movie)
-
Really? Damn!
-
-
-
-
That’s…I wish I could draw like that!
-
I’d pay someone to draw an avatar of me like that, except you know, more humanoid
-
Ask the artist? As in the person who drew that.
-
Riot Games? That’s Battlecast Cho-gath from League of Legends 🙂
-
Well, you could ask
-
-
All the guild wars 2 ones!

I love their art so much.
I’m currently using this . Before that I was using one of Kasumi.
-
Kasumi is awesome. My favourite ME character
I use a whole bunch of pictures from DeadEndThrills. That guy knows his way around a game
TUESDAY NIGHT IS SCHNITZEL NIGHT \O/
-
Except that time you said it was, but didn’t have schnitzel 😛
-
THEY HAD SCHNITZEL \o/
-
-
WHAT. I had pasta /o\
-
Yeah well you’re boring.
Don’t worry, I had pasta too.
-
-
NO IT’S STEAK NIGHT!
I loved this reply from Jim Sterling to a comment saying that people should stop hating on the chick-fil-A guy because he was just voicing his opinion and he has a right to do so.
JIM’S REPLY:
‘I have a right to my own opinion(as well). It’s not like I’m forcing viewers to believe as I do, I’m not banning people for liking Chick-Fil-A, or disconnecting the Internet at the houses of people who eat there, I’m just having an opinion.
This is how free speech actually works. Guy says a thing, someone else can also say a thing right back. And the arguments used to protect the first guy provide exactly the same protection for the second.’
There’s no need to repeat the whole Chick-fil-A discussion here, I’m sure you’ve seen it and discussed it elsewhere. I just think if you replace Chick-fil-A with any other pressing issue you’re discussing , Jim’s reply holds true. If someone makes a statement, he/she has a right to their opinion, but I (you) also have the right to agree or disagree with said person.
Just something I found interesting this evening.
-
To be perfectly honest, I’ve not actually heard anything of the Chick-Fil-A discussion outside of vague, angry tweets.
I don’t wish for this comment to spark further discussion on what appears to be a volatile subject, however I’ll search for it elsewhere.
My day. By Numbers
1) ROAD TRIP.
2) Boring doctor waiting room.
3) Blood test (I got a sad)
4) THAI LUNCH! YAY!
5) ROAD TRIP!
6) Leftover thai dinner
7) And then I found $10.
8) The End.
-
I WANT LEFTOVER THAI!
-
And then I found $10 is number 7? IT SHOULD BE NUMBER ONE! Always First! 🙂
Seriously though, I hope you’re ok. The I got a sad bit on the blood test is worrying.
-
I hate needles, let’s just leave it at that
-
-
Is it “Your day. By Numbers”
Or “Your day by numbers”?-
Both are applicable. I was gonna write it like a child’s recount, but then I just did a numbered list
-
Green Mang Gaming is having quite the sale. 25% of games. Borderlands 2, Darksiders 2, Hitman Absolution for $35! Use the voucher code : “ORDER-NTCOM-PLETE”
-
Wait, you’re not Greenius!!
I thought he was the one who advised us about green man gaming and all things green.
🙂
Ha Ha, seriously though, thanks for the tip.
-
I knew about this but since I told people to get Borderlands 2 for $40 last time…
I let you all down , we all could’ve saved $2.50 :'(
-
So turns out I can’t buy from them, because they won’t accept my card 😛
I wonder how hard the OzTax will hit Borderlands 2 upon release, haha 😀
-
-
I’m giddy, how I imagine a schoolgirl would be. How the hell did they manage to feel like this 100% of the time? It’s freaking ridiculous.
-
Good to hear. Being in a good mood is always nice.
What happened? Don’t leave us hanging.-
I may or may not have met up with the British lass that I may or may not have met last week. I may or may not be taking her for dinner on Saturday evening.
Combine Aleph’s social ineptitude with unfamiliar ‘dating’ paradigms on this rock, and it’s one helluvva weird mix 😛Also YAY for meeting people!
-
Wooo. Aleph on a date! Good luck man. 🙂
-
Haha, thank’ee sir! If it appears to be heading for a trainwreck, I’ve got my homemade smokebombs and trusty cape to make a sweeping (yet completely inconspicuous) getaway!
Aleph; always prepared.
-
-
-
-
There’s women in NT? Who knew!
-
She’s not from here, so it may be a loophole 😛
-
-
Whatever you do, don’t tell her you’re as giddy as a school girl. 😛
Congrats, man! I’m sure it’ll go smashingly.
-
I went to the local cash converters this arvo with the intention of purchasing a gamecube memory card so I could save my THPS3 progress.
I located it which clewarly says “Gamecube Memory Card on the label:
Well, I get home and try to insert it into my Gamecube, and it doesn’t fit.
I plug it into my PS2 and lo and behold, it shows up as a PS1 memory card.
I’m not so much angry about the loss of $12, as I am about the flagrant false labelling.
Luckily, I’m going in tomorrow to sort this issue out.
-
Flip ALL the tables. Also, considering they don’t know the difference (technically, neither do I… But I’d be able to spot a PS1 memory card a mile away, I’m sure), I’d be wary of furthering my custom with them :S
-
I’d flip the store if I had the strength… oh, wait… better idea….
├┬┴┬┴┬┴┬┴┤ t(-.-t)
Take that, Cash Converters.
-
So like less than 6 hours until the hopefully not disappointing line up for Soundwave 2013 is released, rumours are Metallica, I call bullshit but hope it’s true! Megadeth were another, they should just turn it into a Big Four, cause that would be really badass, but that will never happen.
-
Let us know how it goes, buddy.
-
Man, it’s too early. I read that as if you were lining up for tickets. 😛
-
SOUNDWAVE LINEUP ANNOUNCED! METALLICA IS HEADLINING, PLUS A PERFECT CIRCLE ARE COMING!
TICKET BOUGHT!
-
How did you buy your ticket? they aren’t on sale till 23rd of August.
Just tuned into Triple J to catch the soundwave line-up…. what a massive freakin disappointment!
The only thing worth mentioning is Dragonforce, Metallica, Blink 182, Six Feet Under and The Offspring , and of all of those the only ones i would be really amped to see is Dragonforce and The Offspring..
What a totally rubbish line-up compared to this year… So disappointed.
-
At least next year I won’t have so many clashes between bands I really want to see.
-
Very true
-
The most concerning thing is the insane spike in douchy 13 year olds due to the inclusion of Linkin Park lol
-
My sister had a spare ticket in 2010 to a Linkin Park concert. I went, hugely diverse crowd from little kids to folk with grey hair. They put on a good show too. Just all comes down to if you like their music. My brother loved Flogging Molly in high school, their songs etched into my head forever from him constantly playing them.:P
-
I actually do enjoy Linkin Park for the most part. Hybrid theory and Meteora were both excellent… but most things since then have been a little whiney for my tastes – still they would be amazing to see live.
-
They are really good to see live…but I would be less inclined to go now.
Their last 2 albums have been kinda crap.
-
precisely
-
-
-
-
I saw linkin park this year at Rod Laver arena. It was actually a very enjoyable show.
As for soundwave ….. well the last Metallica show was $120 so them + offspring + blink + linkin park and I guess it’s worth it.
I just hope they don’t screw up the sound this time. They really ruined Limp Bizkit and Slipknot this year.
OH MAN! gHJERTKLSDb FSHJKBTWI B
OK, so I won’t be going, although there are some killer bands in that lineup.
I’d love to see (in no particular order) Metallica, Blink 182, A Perfect Circle , GARBAGE!!!, Stonesour, Flogging molly, SHAI MOTHERFEKKIN HULUD!!!FBHJS KGFHL
But yeah, won’t be going. I think I’ll save myself for an international one 😛
Soundwave; where the metal is in the stage, not in the bands.
Anthrax & Metallica, is all I care about, which is really sad. I’d see Stone Sour but they’ve turned into a pussy rock band. Give me Stone Sour from 2006 and i’d happily see them.
So lets hope announcement 2 brings some decent stuff.
-
This is possibly the one chance they have to bring The Big 4 to Australia to play the same dates and it looks like it won’t happen. ARGH.
Paid work! \o/
It’s only for a very short project though (about a week or so), but money is money! That 3DS XL will be mine!
-
That’s awesome, man.Way to go!
-
Wow, congratulations. 🙂
Guten morgen!
-
Just had a flash back to German class in primary school.
-
I simply remember conspiring with the class to make the teacher cry.
Record with her was ~15 minutes.
Record with the substitute was <3 minutes.I’m a horrible person.
-
You’ve got a pass, man. All kids are evil. Lots of ’em grow out of it. 😛
We did Japanese in primary school. Can’t remember a thing outside of counting to ten.
-
I got in more trouble because I was the one correcting the teachers on misguided crap :S
But yeah, I was a shit kid, and a terrible student. Thank god for puberty and the advent of maturity eh? -
I always wonder how kids can grow up to become teachers, knowing what they’re in for. It’s like they have stockholme syndrome.
-
Or we just Aspire to being that awesome teacher that all the kids love…
Of course, I’m biased, by the end of nov I’ll be a teacher… -
You have my respect, then. 😀

Morning TAY. Need a new game suggestion after finishing Persona 3 last week and yes, already finished Persona 4. Any other good non generic fantasy based Japanese RPGs out there on current consoles?
-
Play the other SMT games!
Devil Survivor is raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. -
XENOBLADE!
-
XENOBLADE!
-
😀 XENOBLADE! Best JRPG this gen! (I think it also has the highest Metascore). It’s unique too and will last you up to 100 hours+. Nier is unique too and very underrated. The Last Story has an interesting battle system and it’s a fairly decent game.
For more ‘genericness’, Lost Odyssey is a good classic turn based JRPG and Tales of Vesperia is good too (if you’re a fan of Tales games).
But yeah DEFINITELY GET XENOBLADE
-
Sold my Wii a few years ago now so might need to pass on Xenoblade. But definitely had heard good things about it too.
-
-
-
Resonance of Fate!
Nier! And then Nier again! And again…and again!-
Resonance looks interesting.
I had heard fairly average things about Nier. Sell it to me Strange 🙂-
Nier was worth it for dat story. Plus it’s dirt cheap so you’ll easily get your money’s worth :).
…XENOBLADE
-
People look at Nier’s graphics and some of its gameplay and think “average” but the sum of its parts is anything but average. Nier’s worth it for the music alone, but it’s actually a (slightly flawed) gem of a game. The story is pretty cool, the locations are beautiful, the characters are memorable and the way the game handles New Game + is second to none. Nier was such a great experience that I still find myself thinking about the game even now, ages after I’ve finished it.
Also, you can buy it for extremely cheap these days. It doesn’t start off in the greatest manner, but stick with it, it will be worth it in the end.-
Oh no I completely forgot about the amazing music!
Think of Nier as a “jack of all trades, master of none”. Each section and/or gameplay aspect by itself isn’t that great (well except for some aspects!) but put together they form an enjoyable experience worth playing.
I know when I first saw the announcement trailer I thought “wtf is this crap?”, seeing ‘the big’ reviews didn’t help either. What I did notice is that gamers themselves liked it so I looked into it and pretty much all independent user reviews I watched/read really enjoyed it. Safe to say I’m glad I picked it up for $15 on eBay!
-
-
-
I woke up this morning feeling slightly better then I did yesterday. \o/
Because I feel slightly better I am back at work. /o\.
Also I have a question, Recently I have been playing SKYRIM!!! (made a new character) and I just noticed last night that the werewolf has a perk tree. Was this always the case? or was this something they added in Dawnguard?
-
Dawnguard added Vampire and Werewolf talent trees
-
Oh cool, also how do I howl as a werewolf? I purchased a perk that supposedly makes my howl effect higher level enemies, yet I have no idea how to actually howl. =/
-
Howl is Dragon Shout button I think
-
Tried that, doesn’t seem to do anything. I’ll check the innernets when I get home from work.
-
Do you have to equip it as a shout while in form?
Haven’t played Dawnguard so I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure Howl was just a replacement for dragon shouts. -
You can’t access the spells / equipment menu when in beast (werewolf) form. It just takes you straight to the werewolf perk tree.
-
Found this:
Beast Form: (Skyrim) The Werewolf can transform into beast form for up to 2.5 minutes, which increases by 30 seconds if the werewolf feeds. Note- you may only feed upon the corpses of playable races. Falmer, for example, are inedible. Use caution when using the Beast Form in certain dungeons.
Scent of Blood: (Skyrim 1st Totem) Detect life in a large area for 1 minute.
Howl of the Pack:(Skyrim 2nd Totem) summon Two Wolves to fight at your side.
Howl of Rage: (Skyrim 3rd Totem (default)) Causes nearby enemies up to level 25 to flee for 30 seconds.
The three totems above have to be unlocked and then you can pray at them in the undercroft in Whiterun, you can use one at a time to as werewolf power.Sounds like you have to unlock the tiers first
-
Cheers man, now just need to find out how to unlock them. I’m going to assume that I get them eventually after feeding on enough corpses.
-
I think I unlocked it by doing the Companions quest, but that was pre-Dawnguard
-
Ahhh ok that’s cool. I’m currently doing a quest line for one of the companions so I assume once I finish a quest line for each individual I unlock one of the totems/shouts.
-
-
-
I can’t remember, I cured my werewolfness as soon as I could. My Nord’s going to Sovngarde when she dies, not weird animal heaven. I never really spent my perk points anyway. Pretty sure I’ve got about 30 points just sitting there unspent.
Hey TAY! Sorry I’ve been absent for a while but reasons.
How are you guys!?
-
DID YOU GET YOUR PRESENT???
-
NO!
Unless you sent me my amazon stuff that arrived yesterday.
-
Oh. If it was more amazing than a Nerf Gun, then yes, that was me.
-
-
-
Not too bad, man. How are you? Nice work with the podcast.
-
Thanks so much! We have a surprise coming up that people should enjoy!
Series 2 is gonna be awesome!
-
-
I’ve been absent too!
I only have very small windows of opportunity for internet shenanigans these days but at least it means I’ve been able to get some sewing done.Never mind how are we….how are you Mister Docter Gentleman What??
-
Ups and downs, Madame Strange. Ups and downs.
-
That’s the way it goes. We need the downs so the ups feel upperer. 😛 *hugs*
-
-
I felt like a bit of an idiot last night when I was reading a comic. Took me a while to figure out what was going on in certain panels and when I did I slapped my head for not seeing it from the start. At least I figured it out in the end, unlike a lot of the action or crime movies and shows I’ve watched.
“Wait, I’m confused about the movie. So the cops knew that internal affairs were setting them up?”
It’s strange. I can follow fantasy and sci-fi plots fine but when it comes to a realistic, modern day setting and they start talking about all these different government agencies, terrorists, politicians, suspects, spies etc I start to get really lost. I mean I can follow the basic plot of what’s going on but I never get any of the specific details.
Not ashamed to say this brought a tear to the eye.
http://www.buzzfeed.com/mattbellassai/dad-disowns-gay-son-in-shockingly-simple-goodbye-l-6z51
-
🙁 that’s horrible.
-
Oh fuck, I feel like I’ve just been kicked in the chest.
Firstly, the recipient of the letter shares my name. Trivial, yet it lends a tangible sense of impact, far more than if his name were Steve/Bob etc.
Secondly, while I may not be gay and have not ‘come out’ because of this, I had a similar experience with my biological father too. Never on paper though.
I think I’d have preferred it if there were a sense of emotion conveyed in that letter. In my experiences, I was faced with rage, resignation and resentment. It reminded me that my father was still a person, with opinions and emotions that differ from my own. While there’s much to be said on the benefits of civility, this letter’s impersonality is by far the most shocking example of it’s downfalls.
I… I really don’t know what to say, what to feel in response.
Much like the father, I’m ashamed to say. -
Oh god that’s horrible. Just shows the long way we still have to go as a people to accept everyone no matter their beliefs, sexuality, lifestyle. As Aleph said, just the disconnect of the words and how little emotion there is is just so distrubing.
-
Just disturbing he could write off his son like that. I appreciate the father’s got a personal moral compass and probably felt a sense of disappointment at the loss of a future he had in mind for his kid, but there’s not even a hint of empathy.
-
Wow, that’s just disgusting.
-
This is really deeply tragic. But sad as it is, if the guy’s got a dad like this, he’s probably better off without him.
Silver lining?
Man, all these Dishonored articles I’m tempted to read lately, but I’m already sold on the game. Same goes for Assassin’s Creed 3. What games are you guys looking forward to for the rest of the year?
-
Darksiders II next week, Borderlands 2 and AC3 later on.
I used to be keen on GW2 but haven’t done much on getting involved in that yet… -
BORDERLANDS 2
-
I already have Darksiders and Borderlands 2 preordered but somehow I’m just not super hyped for them. I’ll also be getting Okami HD but I have a feeling we’ll get some stupid unreasonable Australian Tax (it’s PSN only). Other games I’m interested in are Pokemon, other 3DS games, AC3 (still need to play Bro and Revs first), RE6, Dishonored and probably more I’m forgetting.
But the thing I’m probably most hyped about is Ni No Kuni!
-
I’m looking forward to okami HD as well. I’ll be buying it from the US store though, the AU tax sometimes is really harsh.
-
And I’ll be leeching it off you 🙂
-
ha ha.
-
-
-
-
GW2 and Halo 4.
-
There’s Hitman Absolution and Epic Mickey too, depending on reviews. I think that’s it for the rest of the year for me. A lot of my anticipated titles were all pushed back into next year. I suspect 2013’s gonna be a good year for games.
-
Dishonored
GW2
Borderlands 2
Darksiders 2
Dark Souls DLC
Baldurs Gate: EE… that’s all I can think of from the top of my head.
-
Pokemon White 2 and Luigis Mansion 2 are all I can think of at the moment. Most of the stuff I want got pushed back to 2013 (FIRE EMBLEM!).
-
Ohhh, how could I forget Luigi’s Mansion 2. I loved the original game.
-
I’d love to play that on the Wii U, but I don’t think it’s happening. Speaking of the Wii U, I’m still on the fence. There’s a chance Pikmin 3 will seal the deal but it hasn’t yet.
-
Yeah I’m waiting until next year for the Wii U. I’ll let it get a few more games before I jump in (and hopefully miss any launch troubles :P)
-
I’m waiting to see how the usual games will end up. I know they’ll be good but there’s no real incentive for me to get the Wii U atm (ie. no Zelda :P)
-
But there’s LEGO GTA! 😛
-
There’s Rayman Legends too. I suppose it’ll be released on the other consoles eventually, but right now it’s looking like an exclusive. The first was all kinds of awesome.
-
-
-
Good idea – I jumped on the launch bandwagon for the Gamecube – 18 months later you could buy one for $99 – I waited years to get a PS2 and a more years to get a 360 – I won’t be leaping into WiiU – but I do admit their boxes look nice and with games like Ass Creed III at least their launch lineup won’t suck!
-
Darksiders II
Borderlands 2
AC III
AC Liberation
Dishonored
TRANSFORMERS!
Also Sleeping Dogs and Hybrid and Aliens and Borderlands 2 and GRARHVJHSAVFDJHAV
-
Aliens is next year now unfortunately. *shakes fist* Damn you, Gearbox.
-
Well my wallet is slightly relieved about that anyways 😛
-
I’m really hyped for Far Cry 3. I loved and still love Far Cry 2. The promised changes and the new locale and greater emphasis on story are really exciting. Also, a great big open world to explore, SWEET!!
I wasn’t hyped for Sound shapes but seeing it today on the PSN store made me excited for it. Unfortunately there is no demo.
AC3, borderlands 2 and any other announced PSN games might be in the books for me as well.
The only thing preventing me from getting too excited though is the thought of all the DLC for various games. I’d love to buy games on Day one but sometimes I’m not really sure what I’m getting in the box and what will be coming later as DLC. Even indie games nowadays are not safe, with day one DLC etc.
I understand this is how the industry works nowadays but It’s just something that bothers me, it makes it hard for me to get excited for games as I used to.
Also, Game of the Year so far? If you had to pick one game you think every one should play, what would it be?
Spec Ops: The Line for me, but any one subjected to my rambling this week and last knows that already. 😛
-
Trials Evo. Not just because it’s a great game, but also because I can’t remember what other games have come out this year…
-
Always a good reason. 😛
-
-
Hmmm… I’d have to say Trials Evolution. There hasn’t been a huge standout game for me so far this year but I really enjoyed Trials Evo and Journey.
Xenoblade came out in the US this year so can I say that? 😛
-
There hasn’t been a Game of the Year yet for me. Most of my year has been spent catching up on old games because not much has else has grabbed me 😛
-
DARK SOULS!!!!
It’s getting releases on PC this year so it counts right?
-
Totally.
-
NEED FOR SPEED!
Also, Halo 4.
Although I still don’t know which platform I should get Most Wanted for…
-
Oh yeah I forgot about Need for speed: Most wanted. I’m cautious about it but I’m still looking forward to it.
-
Yeah, I’m still cautious too. I’ve decided I’m going to come up with a different name for it and just call it that, because it’s not really Most Wanted at all, except for the fact that you’re trying to be the most wanted out of your friends, which is basically how any highscore board in a game works anyway.
-
Ha Ha, good idea. Call it something else and it doesn’t tarnish the original. Now to think of a suitable name 🙂
-
BURNOUT!
-
-
GW2
Torchlight 2
Torchlight 2!
Path of exile too.

Fall of Cybertron.
YOU GOT THE TOUCH! YOU GOT THE POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Borderlands 2, Resident Evil 6 and Fall of Cybertron!
Transformers: Fall of Cyberton and Halo 3 (I’m secretly looking forward Ass Creed III also but I’m yet to finish II and Brotherhood is sitting there waiting to be played once I finish, I’ll skip Revelations though n- I skipped Gears of War 2 and went straight to number 3 this week – I haven’t regretted it one iota!
-
Oh yeah Borderlands 2 also but i’m still trying to finish number one (although I think I saw the final level – is it in the snow? – on a MP game I got involved in once!)
Oh and I mean Halo 4 – D’Oh!
Anyone heard of/used this store before? http://cheapgames.com.au/
Saw it on ACA last night (don’t ask me why I was watching it).
-
How was this mentioned on ACA?
Those prices may be cheap but dayum that site looks suss-as.-
Lol, it wasn’t about dodgy online stores, if that’s what you were wondering 😛
They were just talking about buying stuff for cheap online. -
One of ACA’s finest researchers probably put the phrase “cheap games” into Google, and then became outraged when someone took their jobs. Probably a foreign dole bludging shonky tradesman.
-
Who often walks from his front door to his car.
-
But really slowly.
-
-
-
-
The site looks a bit sus. A quick glance shows their prices aren’t better than other options.
I would stick with the tried and tested ozgameshop as long as you don’t need the games super fast.
Huzzah! My new RAT 5 has arrived!
Awesomesauce, I think I’ll break it in by using it at work for the rest of the day \o/
-
Scroll through those documents with the speed of light, Aleph!
\o/
That Pez guy took my money this morning. Jerk.
-
What an asshat. Ugh, he could’ve at least asked for our money, or provided us with something in return.
-
I thought your arrangement was based on mutual desire, not on money?
morning all.
I’ve realised something: I dont like living by myself.
hows stuff with you lot?
also, mini meat tonight.
-
Hey dude, yeah not bad. Would seem i’m in the minority about not liking the Soundwave line up and have been abused several times this morning for stating my opinion hahahaha.
Also I like the new name =P
-
you dont like the lineup? hey, NEITHER DO I!!!!
*mutual dislike high five* o/
-
o/
I like Metallica & Anthrax & Stone Sour before their Audio Secrecy album & Duff McKagen’s Loaded, but otherwise it’s a whole lotta MEH!
-
-
Virus_, I found this, you may like it 😛
http://www.fasterlouder.com.au/features/33376/Haters-gonna-hate-A-guide-to-hating-festival-lineups-
I dunno, I just had really high expectations after what this years line up was like, but I should really wait to see what round 2 brings. But I see all this potential and it’s (to me) thrown away.
I’ve never seen Soundwave as that alternative rock festival, that’s always been Big Day Out, so yeah..
-
-
I think the fact that apparently Metallica are going to be playing from the black album makes up for a lot of the line-up
-
If they did what they did at their Orion music + festival either playing black album or ride the lightning in full & all the other hits it could be good, be a 2 hour set though, but would be good, though not sure if Soundwave has a time limit on sets.
I was kind of expecting Black Sabbath or Van Halen to be the headliner not Metallica given that Metallica are back in to the writing process next month for their next album.
-
-
-
Things are decent, man. Hope you’re all good.
-
I’m ok, nothing new happening on my end. How are you doing?
Also, at the moment I live on my own(the landlord sleeps in the other rooms sometimes). Even though it’s OK and kind of nice to be on your own I wouldn’t mind having a house mate to talk to, play games with and help with the cleaning.
So the power company is meant to be cutting our power sometime today for 2 hours, but they couldn’t tell us what time of the day, so that’s real helpful. Something about replacing power lines into the house & out on the street or something..
Hi everyone,
Have gotten permission to transform half of the garage into an office-space for myself and my writing! No more laptop on the floor – I’ll finally have some writing space.
Putting together a list of things I’ll need:
* Carpet/mats
* Desk/chair
* Extension cords
* Lamp
* Bookshelf
* Ugg boots and bar heater for winter
* Fan for summer
* Partitions/room divider
Am planning to hit up garage sales for the next couple of weekends, see what I can find for the budgeted individual.
Anyone know the best place(s) to find carpet/mat offcuts for cheap/free? Thanks
-
Your local auctions/tender centre is a great place to pick up bargains! I picked up my current office chair & desk at my local auctions both for under 50 dollars in total. Great way to save money, sometime the stuff that you can find is brand new and available for only a fraction of the RRP!
-
Thanks – we have a couple of those auction places in Canberra, but pickings are pretty slim at the moment. Am keeping an eye out though! 🙂
-
There’s some ex-office furniture resellers in Fyshwick (from memory, almost opposite Bob-Jane Tmart/Boat dealership).
I managed to get 3 couches for $50 from there. Plenty of stuff, if you can find it.(it’s been a while, hope my memory’s up to scratch!)
-
I got some nice carpet squares form bunnings. About a metre square for around $20 I think it was. Was a good size for a single chair in from of the desk.
-
Damn =( our local one is usually pretty good for all this stuff =P
-
-
-
Buy everything from IKEA!

Hi Shane!
Good to know you’re alive and things are going pretty cool guy!-
Hi Bish! How are things going with you?
-
Oh, you know!
*taps nose*-
No, he finally got that nose job.
About time too!
-
Racist!
-
-
-
try http://au.ziilch.com/
bit hit & miss with what they’ve got on offer, but yeah…. free stuff!
Best bet may be to hunt a goodwill for a floor rug. Or go to one of those CLOSING DOWN FOREVER sales that rug places have all the damn time
*lifesize cardboard cutout of self in typing position
*lamp
*curtains and window to project silhouette of carboard cutout onto
*tape recording of typing sounds
“Breaking news: Joss Whedon has signed on to write and direct The Avengers 2. But not just that… He’ll also be developing a Marvel TV show”
SSSSSSQQQQUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!
*headsplosion*
-
I can’t wait to get invested into a well written series for a whole single season.
-
lmao!
-
He should really go to HBO, works for Sorkin. I doubt Sorkin would’ve ever gone back to network TV after Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
-
-
I’m not too excited for the TV show. Not if it’s live action anyway.
-
It’s gotta be Runaways or GTFO
-
-
Doing a happy dance in my lecture theatre… 😀
I love Joss!
-
I assume the Marvel TV show will be live action? I’m not sure it’s a smart move making a TV based on the Marvel universe. Because of the smaller budget I can’t help but think people will end up being disappointed in it after all the CGI heavy superhero movies that have come out.
-
My brain is asploding.
I have finally got a decent-ish vehicle to call my own and not pay for! (well technically, as a business owner, I pay for it). I have been driving a Barina 3 door hatch for the last 3 – 4 years, and well, apart from being a Barina, 3 door hatches are not meant for IT consultants in any way. I try to pick up servers, printers, even large-ish workstations and I needed to get another guy to come take the equipment for me, but not now, for now, I have a Captiva! Finally something with a boot, back doors, a bit of size! I know I know, just a Captiva, but coming up from a Barina (not my choice… I did own a nice Calais but the Barina was free …..) its a godsend! I can take many servers with me! No more will I be held back by terrible space layouts or oversized boxes! Lookout recycling center… I have a server in the boot for you!!! (to configure onsite not recycle).
-
Your name is incredible!
-
Oh man, I know what you mean.
I have a Ford Fiesta (also a 3 door hatch); you can shove, like, one midget into the boot and that’s about it.
But it’s red, so it goes really fast because that’s how colours work.-
I had an ’89 Toyota Corolla 5 door hatch. That thing was a freaking TARDIS man!
I had 3x 12″ subs in the boot, then changed to 2x 15″ subs. I was able to fit that and the amps, and I could still squeeze in my groceries.
3 people in the back seat (I’m not sure how cosy it was, but I was in the driver’s seat, so it doesn’t matter). Small cars are best cars \o/-
See, you were lucky enough to have a 5 door… 3 doors just aint enough! It was hell though, moving from a sweet, spacious VY Supercharged Calais to a 1.6L 3 Door Barina…. but, I am slowly redeeming myself, I have my motorbike for speed/thrills and the captiva for space/lugging thing round.
-
-
Put a lightning bolt on the side, go even faster.
-
You need to add decals from random Japanese companies to really speed it up.
-
I heard getting a “TURBO” badge provides the most power.
Also big tachometers with shift-lights. -
I heard the best thing is to get a bonnet scoops but no charger underneath, or hell faux bonnet scoops!! That and a 3 inch cat back exhaust!
-
I just remembered that the previous owner of my Corolla had attached an exhaust tip to it. Fully sick, yo.
It was only after I had tried to re-sell it that I noticed the exhaust tip was indeed a 5″ pipe that had been cut and subsequently GLUED* to the pre-existing muffler.
*It wasn’t welded, it appeared to be painted silicon/caulk stuff.
-
-
Don’t forget the electronic blow-off valve sound maker.
-
-
Speed Holes!
-
What could go wrong? 😛
So Freyr, how comfy is Bish’s boot? 😛
I actually have ten minutes to spend on TAY, so I am going to inundate you all with the musings of Hugo;
…
…
…
Nice day today.
…
…
…
Um… SKYRIM!
…
…
…
*sigh* crap… I think I might just go back to work.
-
Always a pleasure. You come back now, y’here!
-
*hear
-
-
Actually it’s really windy and rainy 😛 (in Melbourne)
I’m glad it’s my day off!
So i was going to complain about something of questionable origin protruding from my Chiko roll.
The I realised I was eating a Chiko roll…
-
What’s wrong with a Chiko roll?
-
Oh nothing, I just find it amusing that I was questioning the origins of a particular part of the roll, when in actual fact the whole damned thing is a mystery for the ages.
-
-
I had a chicken schnitzel, some fool planted the idea in my head last night. 😛
-
That gentleman deserves a medal of distinction for such inception.
-
Man, I always feel stupid and out of my depth commenting on controversial articles. I always regret it too. :S
-
I assume this comment was prompted by you just posting in a controversial article? If so, may I ask what the article was about?
I’ve been trying to stay away from controversial articles. I’m confident in my own opinions and how I express them but I just know that either the article itself will get me angry or that there’s going to be comments made by other people that will end up making me angry and I’d rather avoid that. No point ruining my day by getting upset with strangers on the internet after all.
-
Don’t regret it mang. Meaning is always stretched and skewed when using such a medium as text. Context gets lost in the process.
Know within yourself that your intentions are true. The rest is open for interpretation, and that’s the beauty of it 😀
-
Jesus, speaking of coming off as a twat, that comment was a prime example :S
I enjoy participating in discussion, especially on topics people feel passionate about. Occasionally, that means I offend someone. So long as I was not disrespectful or untoward, I’m ok with offending people, and likewise being offended. (That’s not to say that I deliberately look for arguments and such, I’m not a deliberate shit-stirrer).
And now I’ll stop, because I feel as if I’m digging a bigger hole for myself >.
-
I like your posts, man. They’re deep. You’re totally the new Shane. 😛
Dire Wolf: Ah, not really one of those articles. More a complex subject matter that I don’t fully understand but I feel the need to comment any way for no freakin’ reason what so ever. The body image/women like you article on the front page. Comments are calm now if you want to read.
-
Just read your comment. There’s nothing wrong with it. It was sincere kindness. No one can have a problem with that.
-
Thanks for the reassurance, man. Just need some posting restraint, is all. 😛
-
-
-
I may or may not have commented after getting a little hot under the collar whilst reading the comments section.
I’m not sure how I feel about this at the current point in time.
So I was just going to book the bowling lane for tonight and it appears that Strike doesn’t allow under 18s after 8pm. I can’t remember if Lambo has crossed the mythical age barrier yet.
Might have to think of an alternate plan. Like going bowling somewhere else?
-
… I don’t want to know what kind of bowling alley Strike is after-hours, after reading that 😛
-
If the one in Sydney is the same, under 18’s wouldnt be allowed coz it doubles as a licenced bar.
also, last time I was at Strike, I found that drinking + throwing heavy objects is dangerous to your wellbeing.
-
that was one of the things that passed through as a simulation. I wouldn’t want a drunkie waving my 15 pound bowling ball around. That could seriously kill someone
-
Especially with Lambo in tow :S
-
-
-
-
What? The bowling alley I went to in Townsville is like Fisher & Price “My First Nightclub”. Stupidly loud pop songs, blacklights galore (Never a good idea when your primary clientele is adolescents) along with a bar that serves mocktails.
Strange hearing that <18s are prohibited entry after 8pm in a bowling alley.
-
It’s also a bar.
I think I might just move tonight’s events to another bowling alley. Everyone going is from the south side of town, so might relocate to Mt Gravatt.
-
You no good South siders, North side is where it’s at. 😛
-
Join us!
-
I’ll never defect to the south side! 😛
-
-
-
My cat won’t stop pestering me.
She wants some food, but there isn’t any for her at the moment.
What should I do?
-
Pester her for food. Sit at the door waiting for her to let you out. If/when she does, immediately change your mind. Sleep on her face.
…bring her a ‘present’.
-
Skin the cat and feed it to itself.
-
BUT THERE’S SO MANY WAYS TO DO SO
/o\
-
-
Accept the inevitable, buy food, feed cat — establishing lasting precedent that the cat is the boss. 😛
Who’s up for PS3 Red Dead tonight?
-
me.
-
I will if we can get a few people playing!
-
I don’t remember who borrowed it…
Team Persona’s Katsura Hashino says that his staff is currently focused on the next numbered entry in the Persona series (that means Persona 5). Shigenori Soejima has submitted sketches, and the game is making progress.
\o/
-
Also
Gust’s Yoshito Okamura says that Atelier Ayesha saw little influence from Gust’s acquisition by Tecmo Koei, but he’s currently studying so that the next game will be able to draw out the best elements of the new parent company.
Read: floppy boob physics and dynasty warriors /o\ But…
Gust’s next title will have the image of an orthodox RPG, Okamura also teased.
\o/ \o/ \o/
I don’t really like the Atelier games that much, don’t like schedule management b/c I’m always worried I’ll do something suboptimal and fuck up my game. But I loved Ar Tonelico so if they’re going to try their hand at a more RPG-ish game again I’m all for it.
-
I’m the only one that cares 🙁
-
I care about Persona!
I’ve only played a few hours of 3 though…
-
I’ve played more than you! I’ve played about five hours!
I’ve bought it four times though.
-
Well few could be more than 5 hours! I actually think it was around 3 or so in an undubbed PS2 version and maybe 7 in the FES release. Both were naughty copies though 🙁
4 is being re-released on Vita isn’t it? I’ll make sure to pick it up when I get one :). I would do the same for P3 but there’s no FES so I might wait for another re-release.
-
Persona 3 Portable includes FES plus has the Female Protagonist option (which is actually a more interesting experience from the very small amount of it I’ve played).
No burned my bread opening song though.
-
Really? I knew about the female protagonist but I assumed they didn’t have FES and all the extra stuff. Apparently FES was released as a PSN classic in the US in April and I’d rather play it on my PS3 :D… hmmm interesting!
-
Actually it doesn’t include “The Answer” which was all the extra story stuff I was referring too. After some Googling it appears to have a better battle system as well and something about menus for travel? I dunno…
I’ll look into it whenever I get a Vita (if I do)
-
-
-
I care!
Started playing Persona (1st one) again today. Hoping P2P EP will get a release in the west. Seems pretty likey.
New plan for bowling.
AMF Bowling, Kessels Rd, Mt Gravatt (near the corner of Mains Rd and Kessels). Still at 8pm. Moving there because it’s a bit easier for all of us south siders to get to and also because this way we don’t have to worry about them not letting Lambo in.
-
I hate their ads.
Thought I should share that.
-
Thoughtful as ever, here have a beer.
-
Cheers.
-
OMG! You just made me remember this!
Thank you Bumblebee Tuna!

@D.C
ASSASSINS CREED 3!!! (Farcry 3 and Armourd Kill DC too but AC3)
-
I honestly can’t wait, man. The core Assassin’s Creed 2 team. The last Desmond game. Early U.S. history. (A subject that interests me greatly.) New Assassin. Perfect storm of potential awesome. Too bad I don’t have a Vita, because I’d totally check out that game too.
Workplace drama has reached a point where one half of management have removed furniture from the 1st floor of the office in order to fool the other half into believing we’re all moving downstairs and renting out the 1st floor.
I don’t know what this is supposed to achieve, but have been instructed to play along with it.
-
O…K
That’s insane.
-
It’s pretty odd.
Took shelving down and everything.
-
-
Slow time at the moment then? Cause to my ( admittedly rather inexperienced) eye, that seems rather inefficient…
-
It took surprisingly little time, but, yes, you are probably right.
-
-
Wow, really? I need to get a job soon just so I can see stuff like that 🙂
-
It lends more a sense of bewilderment than amazement/amusement for the most part, unfortunately.
Due to workplace politics (which here includes accommodation for some employees) a senior manager was evicted from his house this weekend just past.
-
That’s pretty hardcore.
-
-
-
So…do you guys actually get any work done, or…?
-
Strangely enough, it’s been a surprisingly productive day for everyone at work.
-
OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD
MANIFEST IS ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY
OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OHGOD
AND I’D JUST STARTED TO RELAX! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
-
Eh?
-
It’s cosplay related
-
Oh
-
-
-
It’s your Manifest Destiny to finish it.
I’ll let myself out. 😛
NegativeZero’s Early-Evening-on-a-Wednesday Random Thought:
So you know how we have those MOBA things which everyone likes. They’re basically a micro-version of a full size RPG. You pick a dude and get experience and loot and stuff and by the time you get to the end you’re at max level with heaps of good gear and abilities and stuff. Except unlike a traditional RPG, your game only lasts about 30-45 minutes on average.
Could that model be adapted to other styles of actual game? I’m wondering if maybe you could take the WoW-style co-op dungeons / raids and adapt them to the MOBA character selection & progression model for example.
-
Wouldn’t that just be a MOBA with a different perspective? (Kinda? I dunno)
-
The gameplay would be different. And presumably since it’d be co-op PvE you’d have less people telling you that you’re so bad you would have been better to have stayed as a puddle of slime on your mother’s belly when you’re trying to learn how to play the game.
Personally I like the concept of those games but can’t stand the unwelcoming ‘community’, don’t like PvP games very much in the first place and am not hugely into the gameplay concepts.
-
I downloaded League of Legends back when it was released.
Played through the tutorial sections (tried to anyway), and never touched it again.-
I couldn’t beat the bots so decided I should try against some real people, maybe it’d be easier.
All the regrets.
-
🙁 although I’m not sure why you assumed real people would be easier than bots :P.
The only real people I played against/with are TAYbies so we just derped around. But I still don’t really want to play online against real people :/. Playing against bots gets old quickly so I just stopped playing the game.
-
Well LoL and its ‘tutorial’ and bots and stuff teaches you what the interface does and some basic concepts, but doesn’t actually teach you how to play in any way. So I thought maybe other players would help. This was when the game was first released mind you, and I used to hang out with one of the (former I think?) developers on IRC periodically too.
-
-
-
Big thing to keep it as a ‘micro’ model is to have a definite end state.
The easy way to do this is perma-death (Realm of the Mad God) but I’d like to see a more creative solution.
-
If you’ve got a well-designed set of encounters set up then you’d expect the game to ‘end’ when you beat the final boss.
So a dungeon crawler where you lose all your stuff at the end? I’m not sure that would gain much popularity unless the encounters were really, really interesting.
-
I dunno whether starting over each time is actually that bad or not – it’s been done pretty well in quite a few board games for example. But it was just an idea, I was more wondering if there are other concepts the progression idea could be applied to.
-
I could see it working in a multiplayer shooter game.
-
Arguably Counterstrike already works this way I guess.
-
-
Ya know all this discussion makes it sound a bit like a multiplayer The Binding of Isaac.
I met a girl who sang the blues and I asked her for some happy news, but she just smiled and turned away.
-
Hold on to these words, I’d like to think that they may offer some protection, against the night.
So when sleep just won’t come, and you’ve got no occupation but nibbling at the fruit of the melancholy tree.Just hold on to these words.
Hold on to me.-
🙂
-
I picked up Super Smash Bros Melee today, and going through and unlocking all the characters brought back so, so many memories. I’m going to leave my Wii on overnight in a perpetual melee to make Mewtwo easier to unlock.
Just been watching Mrs Brown’s Boys, what a fecking scream.
-
Does that mean you like it?
-
Yes, a lot.
-
Lame, dad’s CRT died and I think i’ve convinced him that an LCD might be good, but i’m not so sure now looking at budget TV’s in the 32″ size 400 bucks seems a bit much when we can probably replace it with one from the local auctions or something for 50-60 bucks..
I wish I could convince him to buy from Kogan cause there’s quite a good LCD there for 299…
Hey Mark,
If you’re reading, do you think Kotaku could please do a story on this?
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iambigbird/i-am-big-bird?ref=live
This is a kickstarter I think geniunely deserves some coverage. I know Kotaku does stuff that’s not only about videogames, the ‘in real life’ stuff, and Big Birds been a part of a lot of peoples lives for nearly 40+ years. My little boy loves him like I did (and still do!) is there any chance of getting this some publicity? I think this is a rare case of deserving it.
-
I don’t think Mark reads TAY much these days. Try sending it through Twitter or email, or use the contact button at the top right of the page.
But that does sound like a great Kickstarter, I think everyone has fond memories of Big Bird :). I’d back it if I had the money…
-
Yeah I just emailed them by the contact button. Im just leaving a few msg’s here and there. I feel its one of the very few that’s deserving. The mans given so much and he’s really asking so little.
-
Oh and yes, I will be contributing 🙂
-
-
OK, quick one before I go to bed. I first came across Hopsin sometime last year, with his song “Ill mind of Hopsin – 4” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bULBnef6w6k&feature=relmfu
Now, I’m not usually one for hip-hop, although I dare say that’s usually due to the subject matter. I like this guy, and I was just put onto what appears to be his latest “Ill mind” song, #5. It’s nice to see a fresh look at that side of the industry, and someone who seems determined to make a change for the better.
I linked #4 above (because Optimus Prime, Spidey-mangs and Yoda), although I’d urge you all to listen to #5 even more. This kid’s got some serious skill.
Profanity and Hip-Hop warning
So I just watched Scarface for the first time. Awesome movie, I also see a lot of connections of which Vice City took for some story & art. Just another reason why Vice City is awesome.
Hmm. I have 19 emails in my junk folder and 11 of them are warnings about my non existent Diablo 3 account.
-
:O
Quickly, your imaginary Diablo 3 account has been hacked 11 times! Give them all of you credit card / bank account details. It’s definitely legit*
*most non-legit thing ever
-
I get these so often for my World of Warcraft, Starcraft II, Diablo III, SWTOR, Runescape & RIFT accounts.. Thing is I only have a WoW account that I was even deem active, best of all, it’s never been linked to this email address!
I decided last night to completely play through DaekSiders (i previously played about 1/2 way through it then stopped). So far all it’s done has accelerated the hype train for DaekSiders 2. Don’t know if this is a good or bad thing so I’m going to assume good. \o/
-
Really phone? DaekSiders is a word but DarkSiders isn’t?
-
The old DaekSiders
-
To be fair, Daeksiders was by far the superior game.
-
Too bad they’re never going to make a sequal. =(
-
-
Oh, man. All this Darksiders talk. I’m going to have to buy it. 😛 Part of the JB 2 for 40 deal right now too, happily.
-
Do it! It’s an incredibly competent Legend of Zelda style game, with an interesting visual style (at least I quite like it) and a bit of God of War mixed into the combat.
-
Our tastes were similar for Spec Ops, so consider it bought! (Although you often talk about JRPGs and there’s no genre I hate more. :P)
-
-
-
Tomorrow evening I will be in Sydney.
I sure hope it’s better weather than Melbourne up there at the moment.
-
Windy, showers and 17 tomorrow, apparently.
Woooooo!-
Well it’s better than Melbourne’s 12.
-
-
I will be in Sydney this evening! No riding my motorbike for almost a week /o\
-
Steal Gorzy’s?
-
@NegativeZero
Your idea of a (for a lack of a better term) PvE Moba has been done on some Warcraft 3 maps. I remember one were you chose a hero at the start and are put on a map. On the map you get objectives like “kill x boss” or “collect y item from x boss”. When you completed all the objectives the last boss would appear and he would send waves of creeps to your base. I think it would get old after a couple of games. Maybe if the map was randomly generated it would make it more interesting.
-
I wonder if you could procedurally generate the whole system. Maybe it ends up something like the Munchkin card game, where the first player to hit top level wins.
Your Comment
-
Wow. That was a fail and a half…
What I meant to submit was –Man, it annoys me when I spend hours detailing a clear and itemised quote for a customer, only to have them read the “Final quoted price” line and not even bother to check the accompanying itemised list of what’s included, and what’s not.
Then get a call from said customer compaining about having to pay extra for non-standard items that weren’t included in the quote price, and were clearly marked as “not included”The worst part is my boss usually bends over for them, and so they end up not having to pay. Its infuritating T_T
-
Where do you work?
-
Wallframe and truss plant.
Working in the construction industry sucks. :p
-
-
Random fun(?) fact: I remember when I just started reading Kotaku and every time I saw a TAY article I thought it was a new one each day. So all I could think was ‘wow it was posted at 8:30am how did it get hundreds of comments already?!’
Good times.
-
Oh no, you were right, Pez was just talking to himself a lot.
-
One time they showed US comments in all the articles. Comments went from the usual <10 per article to over 200.
-
I thought the same thing too. It felt a little intimidating, so I didn’t start reading TAY until a couple of months after I began reading Kotaku.
I’m sad about all the shenanigans I missed out on 🙁-
Do not fear, human. It is actually possible to keep up, but be prepared to lose a few hours a day on it, tops 😛
Totally worth it though 🙂
-
I have since learned the subtle art of TAY surfing instead of working :p
-
-
-
I used to think that There was some weird initiation ceremony for TAY.
Funny thing is, I still haven’t been initiated. (GEE, THANKS ROCKETS. GIMME THE DAMN OAR ALREADY)Also I’m a lazy, off-topic shit today, and am only just now leaving for work. Toodles!
-
I got initiated twice!
-
I some how avoided the oar, even when folks around me weren’t spared the terrible fate at the same time. 😛
-
I joined right before The Oar.
-
-
-
So RDR was pretty fun last night! I really don’t remember being that bad at it though 😛 Are we sure it wasn’t on some hardcore difficulty? haha Shame that we had connection problems though.
Also, TF2 was fun as well! My favourite part was hitting Alex in the Pants.
-
yeah sorry about that.
-
No need to apologise!
-
-
🙁 poor kitty
-
Do not know whether to laugh or feel sad….so i’ll laugh lol.
-
I guess he was feline a little under the weather that day.
-
Aren’t cats supposed to land on their feet?
Thanks to all who came to the mini meat yesterday evening. It was awesome finally getting the chance to meet some of the Sydney TAYbies. Hopefully next time I can come around for a longer period that’s easier on the humans that couldn’t make it 🙂
3DS friends (also, all you other non-friends are allowed to chip in too, I suppose. I WILL ALLOW IT THIS ONE TIME)
3DS eShop recommendations!
What buy? I guess Pushmo is one of the must-haves, but apart from that, nothing stands out.
Tempted to buy some DS games, but I fear that might be nostalgia taking the reigns and clouding my judgements. Wario Land seemed fun back when but I don’t know if it holds up.
-
1950s Lawn Mower Kids and Puffins Let’s Roll.
Not that I have to mention these as any REAL gamer would already have them. WOULDN’T YOU!?!
-
PullBlox is 100% definite must-get absolutely buy right now.
Dillon’s Rolling Western is good as well if you like action/tower defense (though I think it’s one of the most expensive games on there). Mutant Mudds, Zen Pinball and SpeedThru: Potzols Puzzle are apparently very good as well though I haven’t played them yet.
-
Link’s Awakening? Something tells me you already have it and don’t want it on 3DS though. I hear Dillon’s Rolling Western is good but it’s a bit pricey.
-
Games I have bought from eShop.
Pushmo/Pullblox
Super Mario Land
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
Wake Up, Link!Mario titles were bought out of a kind of nostalgia. I never had them myself, so I wanted to finally beat them. I regret not many things.
Not sure if it’s still available, but you should also get Legend of Zelda 4 Swords for FREE.
Also not sure if it’s available in eShop, but there was a DSiWare title called Pico bits, or PiCTOBiTS, or pic-mang. It’s kinda like Tetris X Lumines. You should spend money dollars on it if it’s available.
Awesome game of TF2 last night! Cheers to Cake for the sudden event 😛
-
I’ve discovered that I’m only good at Sniper when playing with the after-school crowd in the afternoon. I couldn’t get a shot off last night before somebody killed me. haha
Okay so I pretty much missed all of Shameless Gaming Month with a grand total of ZERO games finished.
So I decided to make up for it last night and have started playing Beyond Good and Evil HD.
I’m keen to see what the fuss is all about, but it has already impressed me with it’s liberal application of Rastafarian Rhinos.
-
But you made up for the lack of shameless gaming month by playing games that are not even released yet. I think that’s epic win!
-
That is very true 🙂
-
-
I finished it early this year. It was still really enjoyable but some of it feels dated and a bit clunky (dem camera controls…). Can’t wait for 2 though 🙂
-
Yeah the camera and some of the animations are really showing the game’s age, otherwise I’m digging it so far, I’m keen to see how more of the stealth/photography sections turn out.
-
-
July is actually a really terrible month for ‘shameless’ gaming for me. I find I do most of my game-finishing later in the year, like mid November and December, and also around September before the big black Friday release rush gets going. All the AAA stuff is released by then and I’ve either finished it or I’ve set it aside, so I’ll often dig out a few games I haven’t played to the end and knock them off. This year there’s been a better spread of release dates but so far I’ve only felt compelled to sit down and finish two games end to end the instant they were released so I’ve also got a huge backlog.
I actually find the idea of setting aside a month to finish lots of games is a bit stressful. I play games mainly to relax and unwind, and if I feel like I ‘have to’ finish stuff, I end up either playing heaps of short pointless games to bump the numbers, or I feel like I’m wasting my time by playing something longer that I actually enjoy. So I just play whatever. I finished Darksiders, took my time with it and got every unlock so I felt like I completely finished it end to end and was quite happy with the result. Also going for a no-stress approach means you tend to enjoy the experience more IMO.
Haven’t picked a game to focus on next, having finished Spec Ops: The Line on the weekend. Puttering around with Ys Origin periodically but I hit a boss that I can’t figure out how to beat (The Ys games basically channel Demon’s/Dark Souls in their brutal fight design) so shelved that for now. So many games. There’s heaps of stuff releasing later this month too.
Morning TAY! 3rd day back at work after my comic con trip. Think i finally got rid of the jet lag YAY!
I feel like i cant get back into games news now though. Someone help me redevelop my bad OCD habits of checking game news while at work!
-
Yeah I think I’ve finally smashed the JetLag as well, all I need to do is perform a hard-reset this weekend and I’ll be back to 100%. Although I feel a sickness coming on so I’m fighting that off with echinachea tablets as well.
-
Yeah Nicole and I are fighting that too. I think its just the body being stretched a little thing. Keep up the vitamins too. We should be right so long as we stay warm on the weekend and dont get drunk and hang out doors as if we were still in the states.
-
Yeah I figure I’ll be safe too as long as I don’t drink and-oh dear I have to partys to attend this weekend.
Guess I better double up on the vitamins just in case 😛
-
-
Take some zinc too. It’s actually been clinically shown to reduce / prevent cold symptoms, which pretty much no other supplement has.
-
What is this?
-
Madness!

Madness?

What is it?
It’s it-
Qu’est Que C’est?
Far far far far far far far far far far better.
Better run run run run run away!
-
So in my office-shed (I wouldn’t really call it a building as such, possibly a lean-to?) we have a grand total of 3 businesses operating.
An indigenous employment agency
The head of education/schools for this region
And the construction company I work for.
This means it gets a little cramped, and the maturity level devolves to that commonly found in a teenager’s share-house. The fact that the head of education isn’t aware of volume control irks me greatly.
ALSO HI TAY \o/
-
Oh my god. Aleph slept with the employment agency’s field manager. What a dirty ho. Let’s not talk to him anymore.
-
Yeah, shun that field manager man. He was just a booty-call anyway.
-
-
Is that why you feel compelled to go on long drives listening to Savage Garden? 😛
-
I totally need to do that again \o/
Except maybe not Savage Garden this time. I need to film it with something better than a camera with a dodgy battery though…
-
You’ve probably got the most exotic commute out of all the Tay folk, that’s for sure.
-
Wait you posted video of this & I missed it? Aww =(
-
-
I like bacon.
-
You’re a good kid.
-
Australian bacon blows. US bacon is much better. NZ Manuka Smoked bacon is best.
-
American bacon doesn’t look natural. Just thought i’d put that out there =P
-
hey…. no matter how much you say australian bacon blows, having any bacon is better than having no bacon at all.
-
Oh, man. When I went to the U.S. last year I had a bacon cheeseburger for dinner every night for two weeks. Then I went to New York and replaced that with pizza. 😛
-
Based on your Gravatar I think this means you’re a cannibal.
-
An anthropomorphic pig can totally eat the regular kind, right? Just don’t look into their eyes first. 😛
-
Humans eat monkeys so I don’t see why not.
-
If eaten monkeys is wrong, I don’t wanna be right. 😛
-
-
-
I ate chocolate coated bacon the other week.
Was surprisingly delicious
So last night I was lying in bed and my nose started bleeding. Instead of rushing to the bathroom I just waited. I dabbed some of the blood on to my hand, smudging it. I let a little drip on to a tissue and examined the colour.
What basically happened was instead of trying to stop my nose bleed, I took the time to study the real blood for making the fake blood I’m making for the Zombie Film.
A little bit gross, but I think it helped a lot!
Just wanted you all to know…
-
Fake blood is a bitch to get right in colour I found out. I ended up using a mixture of red, bit of blue, green, black & yellow.. It turned out awesome on camera thank god. It also stayed in a usable state for 2 years (I kept it in the freezer)
-
Treacle gets it nice and thick and dark. Especially if you want blood that looks like it’s started to congeal.
Here’s my blood making tools. https://p.twimg.com/AzcGAErCIAA0Wz6.jpg:large
I have some old blue food colouring not pictured that I will be using too. this is just the stuff I bought on the day.
-
Yeah that’s what I used, well golden syrup to get a good consistency/colour in the end. It also included 2kg’s of white sugar haha.
-
I’m using corn syrup. Was the sugar to thicken it?
I’m also using Cadburys cocoa powder to make it more opaque.
-
-
-
-
Wise move.
Nothing less convincing than overly bright-red/pink blood. -
1. Use green blood
2. get lower rating
3. wider audience
4. much larger theatre takings
5. roll around in piles of money in your lounge room. -
DID YOU GET YOUR PRESENT????
-
I didn’t.
-
Not yet 🙁
-
-
I recall some years ago whilst residing in Canberra, I went to bed with a sniffly nose/cold.
As such, my sniffles didn’t really raise any alarms until I saw my pillow the following morning. It was dripping red from one of the corners, and I hadn’t even noticed. I managed to smear blood all over my face, the pillow and some of the carpet without realising.
Considering I was boarding with a friend, it was all I could do to apologise profusely as they shrieked about me losing so much of the red stuff.
Funny how it cakes and turns brown/black-ish not long after coagulation. That’s never shown on screen.Anyway, macabre remembrance over!
-
After my I had my wisdom teeth out when I was still the elephant man phase of swelling my pillows were soaked in drool and blood every morning. Enjoy your lunch, folks. 😛
-
:/ not looking forward to getting my wisdom teeth out at the end of the year…
-
Fear not, friend. It’s character building. (Not too bad either. The concern and sympathy afterwards was nice too. :P)
-
its not actually that bad – just remember – ice is your friend
lots of ice, for ages longer than you think necessary.
it really helps keep the swelling down.
i went to wet n wild waterpark the day after me wisdom teeth were out…and, i looked almost normal! -
Just be careful with the withdrawals. Shit’s nasty, yo.
-
-
-
My sister (who is a semi-pro photographer) made some pretty realistic looking fake blood for a photo shoot she did once a while back. I can ask her what her recipe was if you’re at all interested. Things get a bit odd when you’re comparing effects like that for still shots vs video shots though – sometimes you can get away with more when it’s moving on camera, sometimes less. Don’t know which way fake blood goes for movies.
Can someone please bring me some food?
Kilo of cooked bacon would be good.
-
You trapped under a tractor somewhere?
-
You should ask your boss Rize, I hear he helps people in need out occasionally.
-
SAVE ME JEEBAS!
-
The shopping center I’m in is playing Crowded Houses greatest hits Cd by the sounds of it. Which normally would be great but when I was a little kid I used to listen to them going to sleep, so now they make me sleepy and I need to work for another 9 hours yet.
Mother of god. New Heavy Gear game announced. 2012 truly is the Year of the Mech.
-
the world can happily end AFTER this year, once i have enjoyed all my heavy machinery!
-
Oh hells yeah! I was a huge fan of Heavy Gear 2.
Dat Agamemnon.
So ummm…
I recall someone offering a free copy of Pay Day. Is it still up for grabs? I’m not big on multi but since getting a PC it’s growing on me now that have people to play with :D. L4D2 is a blast with friends and they want us to all buy Pay Day. Thing is I’m not sure whether it’s good or not and I’ve got plenty of other games to play so I’m in no real rush to buy it, except my bloody friend won’t shut up about it 😛
If the free copy is up for grabs, can I please have it? Could I also get some opinions on the game? It looked interesting but seems kind of short. L4D’s gameplay is a bit repetitive but still fun but after beating the campaigns I doubt I’m going to replay them any time soon.
Thanks in advance!
-
I’ve played it for about 20 minutes. Walked around, got confused because I had no idea what I was doing, died, haven’t played since. I guess I’ll have to learn if I’m ever going to play multiTAYer. It didn’t seem like the sort of game that you can play without holding back the experienced people 😛
-
…NEEDIUS
I’ve listened to Pez and Rize while they played it. It sounds amazing. Which makes me glad I picked it up in the Steam sales. Now if only I could bother to install it.
-
It’s freakin’ great!
I wonder if Valve is planning on releasing their own OS.
Just a thought.
-
and just to screw with linux people it’ll be called “multi-hat”
-
Lmao!
-
That’s gold Jerry, GOLD!
Bravo \o/

Just after HL3
so, i just watched a video that was, frankly, disturbing…yet, compelling…
as the journalist said, its kinda like a car crash…

i admit, i found myself dancing along

yay, page get \o/
a pipster first -
Check out the Star Wars one, or the Cookie Monster one. Not sure which one takes the cake though 😛
-
i love the star wars one
i’m so glad that the ad for the original “call me maybe” seems to have finished it run on tgs you tube sites
-
-
Isn’t that kind of the point though? I can’t imagine they thought they were making Citizen Kane.
@Pay Day stuffs
If I buy it we could play multi :D, except you both hate me and will never play :'(
-
True! and true.
;D
-
Pooalen!
-
-
That’s been a game I’ve always wanted to play, but I’m almost certian that fun is dependent on playing with people. (That doesn’t agree with my hermit ways.)
-
Don’t worry the TAYbies will play with you! I like that now when I think about games I can consider multi games which I used to just ignore because of my foreveralone non-multi console days.
PC MASTER RACE
-
So Work has become incredibly boring today. Power nearly went out twice, but failed to fail. This saddens me. At least with no power id have an excuse to go walkabout. Maybe i should just creep out my co workers by breaking out my SLR and taking random photos
-
Seems like the thing to do, if more people took random pictures with their non-iPhone cameras and without the Instagram filters the world would be a better place. 😛
-
i actually get some good shots like that. Then just convert to black and white, you get some really fantastic looking photos that are completely free of ducks.
-
I’ve got a Canon EOS that I freakin’ love so much that I always keep it boxed away in the drawer and never actually take photos with it. Something is not right there. 😛
-
-
-
I’ve had the power go out twice today, four times yesterday and once on Monday and Tuesday. Ugh 😛
Creepy photos are best photos, by the way.
-
I thought you meant a rifle for a second there.
-
It WOULD creep out the co-workers, plus he’d make the news… :S
-
naw…now i wanna be on the news 🙁
-
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/08/guy-orders-tv-from-amazon-gets-giant-assault-rifle-instead/
Should’ve bought a TV from Amazon then.

Thought this was cool:

that is indeed a very clever campaign.

I don’t know why people even starting smoking these days. I don’t mean to be judgemental or any thing, but what’s the appeal? (That’s a real question, my brother started smoking in his 20s and I have no idea why.)
-
Because it’s cool, man, don’t you want to be cool?
-
Of course, now it all makes sense! 😛 (In all seriousness, I don’t mean to offend smokers. Just genuinely interested.)
-
-
As a smoker, I can say that my first experience was not out of peer pressure, but out of curiosity. It was something I had seen, yet something I had not experienced.
I remember exactly where I was, what brand I pressed against my lips, and the way my friends tried to “teach” me because all I could manage initially was to hold the smoke in my mouth before blowing it back in. I finally got it right.
It was horrible, to be honest. The taste was rancid, I couldn’t breathe, and almost threw up from the shock of a foreign entity invading my lungs.
I didn’t touch them again for months, until I came across kretek cigarettes, and marijuana. I enjoy the taste of both, if I’m honest. It was a pleasurable experience with THC, and I guess that ‘strengthened’ my lungs to facilitate the smoking of tobacco.Present-day, I don’t smoke marijuana. I smoke regular cigarettes, and I enjoy it. It provides a reason for me to get up and move around in my otherwise sedentary job, it sits nicely after dinner, and it’s a nice accompaniment to alcoholic beverages (ports and brandys go particularly well with a nice cigar).
I’ve stopped smoking on occasion for periods up to 6+months, and the most difficult thing is breaking the muscle memory. The physical act of raising hand to mouth.
I realise it’s killing me. I don’t advocate smoking, however I don’t abhor those that are open to new experiences. I enjoy it, and when the pleasure no longer remains, I dare say I will stop.Hedonism at it’s finest.
-
Fair enough too! Thanks for the insight, man.
-
-
-
I am a fan.
-
Brilliant!
Just read http://www.pcgamesn.com/article/truth-behind-shag-gamer
which goes to describe the debacle that is shag-a-gamer. The last paragraph couldn’t have come at a better time!
If you’re a traditionalist, you’ll mislead them on an individual basis by buying drinks you can’t afford and lying about what you do for a living. That’s how gamers shag and get shagged. That’s how anybody shags and gets shagged: by briefly pretending that we are not defined by a single hobby, and then by spinning our arms around until somebody believes that the only way to make us stop flailing is to take us to bed.
This is totally my plan for Saturday night, with the addition of smokebombs and a cape, should a hasty getaway be needed.
-
So my quote tags didn’t work. Ugh.
-
Well, sounds like you’ve got all your bases covered, man. 😛
-
There’s always Rohypnol, the old faithful of “Pick Up Artists” the world over.
-
This comment has been deemed inappropriate and has been deleted.

Been listening to the Pan’s Labyrinth OST all day. Man, I’ve got to get that on Blu-Ray. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19bBGxf5k6k
-
I still haven’t seen it! It’s been recommended to me countless times…
-
make that countless+1 times
also, that soundtrack is a beautiful piece of work.
-
-
It’s a part of JB’s buy 2 get 1 free (So basically, 3 for $30). Buy it!
-
!!!
I didn’t know that, man. Thanks for the heads up.
-
-
Yes, yes you do. Eye hands monster is best monster.
Oi, people on the Payday fence! I (obviously) can’t speak for how much you’ll like it, but I love it!
Anyone who’s not sure if it’ll be no fun if they’re inexperienced, just make sure you let people know when you’re playing it.
It’s similar to L4D in that solo is OK, co op is best, and co op with friends is better than best. A fair few TAYbies own it now so it won’t be too hard to find players.
-
L4D2 originally had like 4 or so campaigns which I feel is a bit short but with all the DLC it’s something like 12 or so which is fine. I read somewhere that Pay Day only has 6 ‘heists’ which seems a bit short. I’m not usually the type to replay things so how long do these take to finish? And… do you just play robbers or is there something else? I saw a video review ages ago and I think you can play as cops?
Thanks in advance!
-
They’re adding more heists in as DLC (I think one came out a day or two ago) but I’ve played the vanilla ones numerous times and they’ve got good replayability, particularly in co op. It also has unlocks and player progression so you can get new items/weapons/bonuses.
Unless it’s part of the new DLC you can’t play as a cop, but each heist is very different (bank robbery, stealing from a drug deal, rescue a prisoner among others).-
Hmm yeah seems like the Wolfpack DLC added 2 new heists (I think the 6 heists in the description was probably referring to original content at launch). I think I might wait until a “complete” edition comes out with the DLC (I’m cheap :P).
Hopefully people are still playing by then!
-
-
-
Yeah it’s not bad.
I found single player boring. Playing with friends is great fun. It lacks the quality and polish of L4D but it’s an enjoyable use of $15. Some of the missions are also stupidly hard. Sometimes you need to unload 2 clips into the swat guy to kill them. They ramp up the difficulty by just making the enemies harder to kill.
Had to watch Mulholland Drive for a uni assignment…
Never has the rewind button been so useful…
😀
-
Once I had to do an assignment on Blade Runner, hadn’t seen the film and was too lazy to track it down so used my experience with the point-and-click adventure game instead. Totally worked. 😛 (Luckily it was abou film noir and aesthetics, not intricacies of the plot.)
-
lololol! What’s the assignment might I ask?
Not that many people use it these days but I’ve had to take the Minecraft server offline so I can fix it after the 1.3 update. Damned Notch.
Seeing all this persona 4 arena news makes me sad…
Was so excited for it but I’m forced too wait…
What was atlus thinking when they region locked it? Oh wait, money -_-
I just wanna play as aigis 🙁
-
Play your Max Anarchy!
-
That’s a great idea!
But I’m at uni now… now I’m sad…
-
-
PAL in September. Same month as Tekken Tag Tournaement 2 and Dead or Alive 5. Great marketing decision there. 🙁
-
Also the region lock business was like a slap in the face to a lot of their fanbase. I’m actually really tempted to skip it or even stop buying Atlus games over the debacle. And for reference I’ve puchased Persona 3 four times, and all the other Personas and most SMT games at least once as well. A good percentage of my import library is Atlus.
-
I have bought persona 3 about 3 times, and I’m just about to beat it for the billionth time.
I never played 4 for some reason, but I’m waiting for the golden to out. And I love the blazblue games… I was super excited when arena was announced (especially with the P3 cameos) and now I have to wait till September? I wish I had the drive to boycott the game but I want to play it too bad…
-
I’m hoping to track it down second hand so I can play it without paying Atlus for it.
-
-
-
Billy Talent’s new single!
I’m seeing them on Sunday and it’s my first proper concert (the other one isn’t worth mentioning *hides*) so hopefully I don’t get stabbed :P.
I was looking at places to buy their new album and Play.com have a pretty rad deal. It’s advertised as an ‘Play.com exclusive signed copy’ but does anyone have any prior experience with these copies? Do they ship to Australia and has anyone used them before? I’ve seen their name mentioned a few times for video games but never for CDs.
Cheerio.
-
Well, what band did you see?
-
Wiggles. My money’s on Wiggles. 😛
-
Actually I have seen them in some shopping centre! That’s nothing to be ashmed of though 😛
But it was Fall Out Boy touring with Infinity on High (when they started to get crap). Loved the punk stuff of their first few albums but then they started getting a bit too pop for my liking.
-
Yep, that’s a paddlin’.
-
-
-
-
Play.com ship world wide I am pretty sure, and they’re a reputable site, they get a lot of exclusive deals with bands, i’ve never bought from them, but that doesn’t mean much since i’ve only ever bought 2 CD’s online & that was from JB Hi-Fi haha.
-
I don’t think they do. Soon after posting this I tried signing up and they only had a list of European countries to pick for the address 🙁
-
Really, weird I thought they also serviced the US =/
-
-
Found a rare item crate in TF2 and immediately got 3 trade requests. YOU’RE NOT GETTING IT THAT EASILY. Scavengers, the lot of them!
Now to figure out how much this is actually worth… 😛
-
I’ll give you 17 hats for it??!?!?!!!!!!!!!
-
I’ll give 18.
-
-
Trade it for a new multiplayer game we won’t play!
-
I’LL GIVE YOU 15 REFINED AND AN UNUSUAL HAT
-
I only every got one good drop, a Texas Ten Gallon. Then came the death threats
and then the begging, shortly followed by people offering me pages of rubbish.
Stop trying to take my game collection away from me dagnabbit! I don’t want to point at a little box and say “There’s all my games.”
-
Whoops. Wrong place.
Points still valid though.
I DON’T UNDERSTAND!?
So I somehow ended up on that after seeing that Batman Maybe video then some mash up of Call of Maybe and Somebody That I Used To Know…
-
For all you know, that’s how we all sound to the rest of the world. 😛
-
CARN ‘STRAYA!
-
-
Normally I consider myself good at understanding accents… but I think I might have to cross that off my resume now.
-
Glaswegian. It’s so far removed from English dialect that I’m not sure it could be called English any more.
Certainly a difficult one to understand!
-
-
Doc What? we need you.
Managed to get the gist of it and understood sections but that’s about it. Might have to see if I can actually translate that later.
Actually…….. damn you can’t turn captions on for that video
I’ve been working on a this full year project for uni. It means i’m in a team of 3, and we have a supervisor, who also happens to be the unit co-ordinator. He wanted to look through our code, and I kid you not, my friend just received this email:
—————————————————
(NotoriousR’s teammate name),
I have just tried login to Bitbucket. At the login prompt
I have typed in ” and I get a ‘no search results were found
message’. What am I doing wrong? (Probably something embarassingly
obvious:-( )
Live long and prosper,
Yup. He tried to login through the seach bar. And yeah, he signs off his emails like that.
-
Woops, the html swallowed some of the names I took out.
-
That’s not logical at all, he has no right saying that. 😛
-
No signs of intelligent life present.
-
HE HAS A PHD AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS UNIT AND A DOZEN OTHERS AND OH GOD WHY IS HE STILL A TEACHER
-
I suspect I know who it is. 🙁 It doesn’t surprise me.
Did I ever tell you about the time one of the teachers that handles the tutorials and stuff was talking to the lecturer who was taking over the 1st year Computer Science course and apparently he was like “I just have one question. What do those numbers that start with ‘0x’ mean?”
:\
-
O_o
-
-
-
-
Haha!
What sort of project are you doing? Enjoying it? I really liked my full year project for Uni. Though we had a team of 7 (a nightmare trying to find a meeting time that suited everyone :P)
-
The project is kinda crappy, because we inherited last years code, and they just hacked everything together. And the aforementioned supervisor just rants and drones on and on. When we have a meeting, it’s 5 minutes relevant stuff, 15-20 minutes him repeating previous rants, 5 minutes of new rant material.
-
Ah that’s a bit unfortunate. Sounds quite a bit different to what mine was then. We barely talked to our supervisor unless we had to present our work to her/the rest of the class 😛
I’m sure it will work out though. Good luck for the rest of it!
-
Thanks! I’m just holding on until the end of the year and hope I don’t fail anything.
-
-
-
-
Oh dear.
-
Some Monash ‘teachers’ are really stupid :/
-
Did you reply with:
Error is located between chair and keyboard? -
Maybe it’s a test? To see if you know what the problem is, and to see if you can respond politely. 😛
-
Ha! I wish. If you met this guy, you’d know that it is most certainly something he’d do. But, my friend did reply politely, despite all the chuckles we had.
-
Am I broken if I’m really interested in the FF XIV 2.0 update despite having bought the original game at launch and gotten super burned by it?
-
I bought the game at launch. Heard it was terrible and never activated it. It’s still sitting at home in my cupboard. The collector’s edition as well.
-
It is very pretty. Only MMO I’ve played since that comes close is Tera, but FFXIV doesn’t require your characters to dress like porn stars and lets you play as a catgirl without being accused of being a pedophile.
The gameplay was pretty much not there though. It felt like an alpha. There was the seeds of some great ideas in there but they were pretty heavily buried. Unfortunately this is Squenix so I doubt they’ll be smart enough to make the 2.0 version free to play. If they did I’d be right into it I think.
Most depressing element: I couldn’t find any white mage robes. The white robes with the red triangle pattern along the hem. Don’t think there was any in the game 🙁
-
Not accused as its just assumed 😛
-
As someone that’s been there (I find them cute actually) I can tell you it’s not just assumed 🙁
-
-
-
Tetsua Miziguchi, creator of popular titles Child of Eden, Rez and Space Channel 5 will visit ACMI next month and you’re first in line to this one-time-only event! At An Evening with Tetsuya Mizuguchi, audiences will get an insight into the game developer’s career and inspirations, his unique philosophies and his vision for the future of entertainment.
OMG
-
Wow.
-
Ordered myself a ticket to this. Any other fronds going?
-
I’m not in Melbourne so 🙁
-
It’s tempting. I still haven’t been to GameMasters yet. Was planning to on Friday but we were short on time and didn’t want to rush it..
I’ll have to check with some friends who are away at the moment.
-
-
That sounds awesome…
I missed the tim Schaefer one cause of work…
I’ll check with Beavwa-
Oh, man. I would’ve loved to have seen that. Do they put transcripts/recording on line, does any one know?
-
Sorry if this is a double post. I think the TAY monster ate my last comment.
Tell me, TAY – Should I buy Payday The Heist? (75% off on Steam)
I love the co-op play of Left4Dead. Will Payday thrill, or simply disappoint?
-
I believe the concensus is “yes”!
-
I’m gonna say don’t bother. Not worth it.
This has nothing to do with jealousy of not being able to run it and join in all the fun everyone is having. Definitely not.
-
Thank you both!
Arm = twisted \o/
-
-
I asked this earlier so if you don’t want to read people’s opinions above I’ll try to give you a quick summary 🙂
Most people enjoyed it and think it’s worth it, especially if you liked L4D.
I know you’re on L4D so I’d say yes, provided you can get a group of friends to play together as it’s better with friends.
-
Sorry SoylentGreenius.
I’m not on TAY during the day, so I didn’t see your earlier comment.Anyway – It is purchased now and shall be played. Perhaps there’s some TAYbies who’d like a game some time?
-
Just got gifted a copy of Payday. Guess I’m in on that now.
-
Cool! Add me on Steam. I’m easy to find 😉
It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday….
TGIF, TGIF…
-
Hope this Friday finds you well and I hope in time you forget those lyric. 😛
Started the day with a 4km run, then ate two slices of cake for breakfast when I finished. :S
-
The only version of that song I’ve ever actually heard is Blaghman’s. Which was awesome. 😛
-
That DOES sound awesome.
-
-
-
Yes, but it shouldn’t be. I’ve too much to catch up on, sleep being the primary objective still. Wake me up tomorrow, when I don’t have to do anything please 😛
-
Hey, man, didn’t you just have a four day week? 😛
-
That Sleeping Dogs gameplay on the front page looks surprisingly impressive. Getting a little tired of open world crime themed games, but this one could actually be decent!
-
I swear every damn time I see Sleeping Dogs I think “Watch Dogs” instead and get slightly more excited 😛
I haven’t seen much on Sleeping Dogs but it kind of looked a bit average. I’ll check out the new footage though!
-
I’ve accepted the fact we probably won’t be playing Watch Dogs until I have a Xbox 3 controller in my hands. 😛
-
…and a post to get back to Greenius. I knew I’d forget 😛
-
-
I was kind of ambivalent, watched that trailer then I was a lot more interested. Avoid the trailer with the terrible voiceover and go for the one that uses the in-game stuff.
Squenix are acting very confident in the game, were talking trash about how Activision were crazy to have ditched it and the developer (it used to be a True Crime game) and I think that says quite a bit.
I don’t know how much time I’ll get with it though – Darksiders on the 14th, Sleeping Dogs on the 18th, War for Cybertron on the 22nd.
-
Speaking of Darksiders, I went to my local JB yesterday and every damn copy of the first game had sold out. I guess every one wants on board that band wagon. 😛
-
Really? I swear no one other than me really liked that game 😛 (until recently when I discovered some TAYbies did).
Try eBay/normal import sites? You should be able to find it under 20 since it’s fairly old.
-
I’m sure I’ll be able to track it down, just riled me up that I had literally seen it for months and months and the time I actally go to buy it… no dice. 😛
-
I’m a big fan of the game. Played through multiple times and have the platinum trophy.
-
-
Do you have a PS3? Isn’t it free with PS+?
-
I do have a PS3, but not a PS+ subscriber alas. Also I’m all stubborn and like a physical copy of my games, damn it, other wise I feel like I don’t really own it. 😛 I’ve seen it about plenty, though so there’s no rush. I suspect JB at Chermside will have it. Next time I go see a movie I’ll investigate.
-
But…but…free Darksiders…and Stranger’s Wrath…and Tomb Raider GoL…and Dead space 2…and other stuff….for free! (AKA $30-ish for 3 months 😛 )
-
That’s a pretty impressive line-up, I’ve got to say. (Got most of ’em on the PC and 360 already, though. :P)
-
Yeah… The past 2 months of releases was stuff I already had :(, US line up looked better and still is! They got Walking Dead this month… :'(
-
We usually get what they had…just a bit later. Happened with Tomb Raider, for example.
-
-
-
-
Got a decent PC? It’s $20 on Steam…
-
Oh, cool. Thanks for the heads up. Was really looking to get Darksiders and GTA 4 as part of the 2 for 40 deal at JB, though. Lent my brother GTA 4 a couple of years back and came back scratched and unplayable. Seemed like a good opportunity to replace that at the same time. Plus I like physical copies. 😛 Good to have this as an option, though! No rush, though. Have had an insanely good run of games lately so I can’t complain at all.
Got to play a Sleeping Dogs demo during Comic Con, its quite fun and fairly intuitive controls on the xbox. Its only one small chapter i got to see, but a all in all it was a great first impression.
I was buying stuff on the 3DS eShop, but because I have a US 3DS, and it has some weird US tax with each purchase, I am now $.012 short of buying Mighty Switch Force.
Twelve cents.
I mad.
-
*$0.12
Decimal places are tricky!
Glad I do not trade stocks.
Playing STO last night while listening to Pez’s livestream last night was awesome! More people should join in next time.
-
I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS ON! I was so bummed when Pez tweeted ‘Live stream is voer, thanks for coming guys’, since all I was doing was sitting on the couch googling crap :'(
-
I liked the part where he finished and then forgot to stop the stream and so Pants and myself were just creepily watching Pez.
-
Internet and creepy voyeurs go together hand-in-hand, though.
-
Morning TAY
Drove to work today with the bionic commando rearmed soundtrack cranked in the car. God damn i love those beats! good start to a friday. 😛
Been playing RIsen 2 I won’t lie I love saying Tacarigua the game however is pretty average.
-
I just started playing this a couple of days ago myself. Definitely different compared to the original one. I’m still enjoying it, but hoping it starts to get better. Perhaps things will get more interesting once I learn some voodoo!
You guys never fail to bring a smile to my face. I don’t know where I’d be without you guys. Just thought I’d let you know.
-
I’d say the same thing. KotakuAU TAY community is best community
-
\o/ That’s one way to liven up a Friday morning!
This place is awesome. Because bacon.-
BACON.
-
is better with maple syrup 🙂
-
-
-
Couldn’t agree more, posting here and feeling like part of the community is often the highlight of my day. (If I post too much, that’s why. :S)
-
As socially inept as it sounds, I have far more contact with the TAYfolk than those I see in the real world. I’m ok with this, as it lends a sense of connection to the mainland 😛
-
NT’s like a post-apocalyptic, Fallout wasteland. Might be for the best to avoid the wandering mercs. 😛
It’s gotten to the point where I’m sort of thinking I might some day in the future go to a meat. *gasp*
-
It really is, haha! It’s not uncommon to drive home past burning mattresses, spear/shotgun/crossbow wielding angrymen, upturned cars etc.
I’d love to go to a meat, and I’m thinking that I’d want to try and get everyone together for a dinner or something in Sydney if ever I’m down that way again. Most likely the night before I go overseas, whenever that may be 😛
-
Just make sure to give plenty of notice!
-
The Brisbane folks seem less scary than the Sydney folk, though. 😛
-
Why, because they’re simpler folk?
-
We’ve got Strange and she instantly lowers the intimidation ten fold!
-
(That’s a compliment, btw. I’ve been stressing for the past half hour that she’ll interpret this as an insult! :S)
-
Yeah, she’s pretty wonderful.
-
Strange is indeed rather awesome.
-
-
-
^ Who’s this guy?
Anyone else use the Battle.net mobile authenticator and have it give you wrong code to log in with?
I know they have just announced a breach, and I’m hoping they have just disabled the service for the time being, but it would be good to know if anyone is having/had this issue.
-
I use the normal (non-mobile) authenticator and it seemed to work. Maybe I was one of the few lucky ones that didn’t get their account details stolen.
-
I would be pissed if my authenticator didn’t work though. Blizzards whole “completely protect your account with an authenticator YADAYADAYADA” and it has locked people out of their own accounts =/
-
-
Logged in earlier with the mobile authenticator and it worked fine.
-
Logged in with Mobile Authenticator (Android).
I did have some trouble with the Turing step, had to refresh that a couple of times. You may want to try the “Re-sync/Refresh” button on the Authenticator app.
Also, make sure you’ve got the latest version of the app. -
Make sure your phone has the correct time. The algorithm blizzard use uses the current time to generate the code, so if your phone is far enough removed from the server time it’ll fail. Use the resync option.
-
Have tried all the above, thanks for advice, still no dice though, so yeah I’m effectively locked out somehow. I have changed my password (so at least I don’t think its been hacked) but still can’t login because of the damn authenticator!!!! Ah well, I’ll give Blizzard a call when I have a spare hour….
HAHA! THQ have been sending out foot tall, personalised tombstones to journalists for the release of Darksiders II
-
It’s no Godfather 2 illegal brass knuckles.
-
haha, that’s so cool
-
Ha ha, nice one
-
Awesome and slightly creepy 😛
And now I’m starting to get hyped for Darksiders II despite having it pre-ordered for months
-
I’ll start getting hype for darksiders 2 if I ever manage to beat Tiamat
-
-
OH GOD that’s cool!
Monte Cook has a new (Pen and Paper) RPG up on Kickstarter, well worth a look: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1433901524/numenera-a-new-roleplaying-game-from-monte-cook
-
$20 for the PDF’s and the character creator?
That’s pretty awesome.
-
Yeah, that’s the level I went for.
That said, Mont Cook’s Ptolus is considered a high benchmark for RPG setting books, so I may need to up it to a physical copy
-
well, I’m already tempted to up to $30 to get (what I assume is) a Monte Cook adventure. Then I start to think, “Well, in for a penny, in for a pound!”
$70 ($60 + 10 for int) for the hardcover is what you’d pay for two sourcebooks from a retailer here in Aus… then it’s only $10 more for the adventure… then I’m suddenly looking at THE COLLECTOR and wondering if I can convince myself that nearly $200 today is a good price for a game that’s still a year away.
-
-
Good morning TAY! o/
-
Hey, man. How goes it?
-
Not too bad, just chilling. 🙂
-
-
You never told me what your Mulholland Drive assignment was about :'(
-
We have to do an interview with one of the characters from the movie.
-
We had to do that in high school on any book, I interviewed Josella from Day of the Triffids. 😛
-
Whaaaat? Weird. I thought it might have been like, discuss how feminism is portrayed or discuss the representations of reality versus perceived reality by the characters of Mulholland Drive. But, ok then, interview one of them, sure.
-
So, Naomi Watts. Why do you touch yourself when you are depressed?
-
Why does any one? 😛
-
-
-
Sure is cold today. I’ve got gloves and a beanie on and I’m still shivering. Somebody make me a cup of tea!
-
HOBOPANTS
gurna be cold tonight!
-
Where we meeting anyway?! Cake and I were trying to explain it to Pez in case he decides he can make it but then we discovered we don’t know when or where we’re supposed to be meeting tonight!
I’ll try not to look like a hobo tonight. I’ll try.
-
Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, default meeting place of Kinos, it would seem?
-
-
-
Cold? It’s not cold! I’m wearing a short sleeve shirt, and I’m alright! 😛
-
Not even a long-sleeve shirt? 😮
-
Southeast Queensland is pretty warm at the best of times. When we whine about it being cold, it’s really not THAT bad comparatively. 😛
-
-
Saw this down below.
Is it just me or do these girls look ridiculous?
-
It’s not just you 😛
-
-
They all look fairly ridiculous. And it’s a shame because their natural hair and natural-looking make-up would make them look so stunning. Instead, they just look like fashion-victim clones.
-
-
DUCK FACE
BANG BANG-
From L to R, only number 3 has anything resembling duck face going on, and even then, it’s much closer to an actual “pout”. Number 2 seems to have been caught looking unfortunately as though she her mouth is in that semi-open/closed state permanently. I’m also concerned that each of them seem to have exactly the same colour/tone skin.
It’s certainly no Jersey/Geordie/Shire/Essex lineup.
-
i was referring to number 3 🙂
-
-
-
Rather subdued compared to your standard Gold Coast girl round these parts.
-
Yeah, they look weird. And samey, like fembots. Are we sure they’re real women??
I can safely say that none of those things would be on my list of “essential” things to take on a girls weekend away (if I ever went on such a thing).
-
I am inclined to agree.
My first thought would be leaning more towards PJs, a toothbrush and a good book…
Guess I was mislead… -
I don’t understand the hair.
-
-
I’ve seen better looking ones in Ipswich! (Best insult ever :P)
-
That’s harsh man, I’m tempted to report this comment
-
Uh oh. I have a major dilemma that’s going to affect me for the rest of my life either choice.
I can’t decide if I prefer Hanaichis Japanese Curry or their Karaage Udon.
-
Choose both!
-
Choose life.
-
Eh, he’ll survive.
-
-
-
Holy shit, curry, I freakin love their curry. Had it just yesterday too XD
-
Isn’t that like deciding which of your children you like more?
-
That’s easier.
The one that gives you gifts….
….
….
I’m going to be a terrible mother, aren’t I?-
I always thought it was the better looking one.
-
They’re usually the same one, since you give the good looking on more money and they give you gifts in return.
-
-
-
http://www.thepunch.com.au/articles/men-are-the-new-sluts/
The man’s got a point.
-
Very true. Especially in my local nightspot. It’s bizarre.
-
I saw a dude walking around in a stretched singlet yesterday. The effect of your abs is lessened when it looks like you’re wearing a woman’s spaghetti-strap singlet.
-
You guys are making me feel discriminated against just because I’m wearing a mesh singlet and leather boy pants and it’s not fair.
-
Don’t be like that Freeze, you make them look good. It is the try hards that we are discussing
-
-
-
I guess people are entitled to wear whatever they like, it’s none of my business. One of my pet peeves is cosmetics for men, though, setting a dangerous precedent where it becomes expected of everyone. Why give up one of the best perks about being a guy, the ability to leave the house without having to look in the mirror. 😛
-
Those sad sacks needing to wear clothes and make up to look good. I don’t wear anything as my naturally bronzed and perfect god like physique needs no accentuating accessories.
-
Bronzed? Dude, hate to break it to you, but you’re more a buttery yellow, like daffodils.
-
Racist.
-
-
And yes, I mean completely naked.
And yes, it is far more impressive then you could ever imagine. Thor had his hammer and I have mine.
Ladies.
-
Need I remind you that mine is the size of one of your large aeroplanes?
The one thing they have in common is that I can hold both of them with ease.-
You’re pretty in my books cthulhu 🙂
Now you will not devour me, right? right?
Cthulhu, why are you looking at me that way? you’re handsome, I promise. please! No! No!Noooooooooo! -
I like you.
You shall be spared from the horrors of my eventual uprising.
-
-
-
I personally can’t believe this hasn’t got more negative press especially because of the idea of slut shaming and all that in recent times based on what people wear/how little they wear.
-
You’re right, man. Felt guilty after I posted it to be honest, but I feel guilty after I post most things.
It sure is windy today.
-
You should probably lay off the baked beans today then
-
he never said it was a bad thing 😛
-
I dare say no-one’s conscious to speak out against it, either. Poor, poor co-workers…
-
-
-
Sorry, I shouldn’t have had an extra meal…
-
My friend got bowled over by a strong gust as we left class just now. Awesome.
I haven’t been able to get “Straight A’s” out of my head for the entire morning.
Damn catchy song.
So damn impressionable, bought almonds after Mark’s food post yesterday. (And all the endorsements in the comments.) Tasty.
-
I randomly stumbled across that yesterday and thought it was pretty funny 🙂
-
My wife loves cooking with almonds. Every meal she serves me has a faint taste of them. Even the ones that don’t appear to have any in it.
-
Consistency… That’s the thing.
-
Doesn’t cyanide taste like almonds? D:
-
Yeah, bitter almonds or something like that.
-
Just checked, looks like that’s what it smells like, not necessarily tastes like.
-
Taste and smell are usually strongly linked.
-
So I’m told.
-
-
-
Hopefully you like almonds and it’s not some passive aggressive thing. 😛
In light of this http://www.kotaku.com.au/2012/08/why-sony-abandoning-trademark-for-the-last-guardian-means-nothing/
I propose that we pool together some funds to buy the $500 option on Pez’s Pozible and name the album “The Last Guardian”
-
This is a good plan.
-
I’ve always been the one to genuinely shut the doubters up on this game, but this one has me concerned.
-
I guess the only concern is that it’s a fairly “generic” title. Duke Nukem Forever was able to last 14 years because it was tied to an existing IP, and then it reached a point where no-one would call their game DNF anyway, and then Guns and Roses finally released their album of the same name, etc.
Approximately a billion cookie cutter RPGmaker and/or phone games could be called The Last Guardian.
-
It’s alive. It’s alive.
-
-
That’s certainly better than ‘Pez Dispenser’.
-
Shouldn’t it just be “Dispenser”.
Make the joke less obvious to those that don’t know him as Pez?
-
-
All I know is every time I see that dog critters face I want to buy the game.
So The power’s been cut at least once per day this week, at most I counted 4 outages in a 24hr block. Power&Water have had no knowledge of this happening until I called them today, as it’s the mining co. here that seems to like pulling the plug ALL THE FREAKING TIME.
Got their finger in every damned pie, on every damned pulse here.
-
Take your malitia to the neighbouring town ship, breach their fortifications and steal their generator!
-
Steal ALL the generators!
-
Mashaaaaaaaa and Inquisitorz’s’s’s’s’s’s.
Your books are on their way.
Grandmaster B-Funkalicious
You haven’t given me your address yet so can’t send yours.
-
OH SHIZZIT I FORGOT
ummm, e-mail me at grandmasterbfunk (at) gmail (dot) com and i’ll get back to yah!
-
Wow. cool. I bet they’ll arrive next week \o/
Thanks again.
-
You sir, are awesome!
@Bish mang
Okay outside Kino’s that’s a good start…now what time?
-
Tonight?
-
Okay yeah, tonight, now let’s get a little more specific :p
-
I wasn’t being a smartass, I just lost track of all the meatmails.
-
Oops. Klutar meat!
-
-
Dinner time.
-
-
So that took a while, but I finally got around to updating my backlog with everything I purchased over the summer sales.
My backlog is now officially over 100 DAYS worth of playtime to complete. Well at least I have plenty to do.
-
You know what, I like to imagine that as retirees we gamers will have a lot of games to finish. The problem though is we might have lost a lot of our coordination. 🙂
-
hahahahhaha
I can just imagine 80 year old me, still claiming that I will get around to completing darksiders one of these days-
FWIW if you can beat the bat boss there’s really nothing else after her that’s anywhere near as hard.
-
Unless you’re Pez, at least. Apparently the portal-area minibosses were kicking his ass.
-
I had another crack at that one last night and found the first part much easier so I think I will be able to get through. Will probably just take me a few more attempts to work out the best way to fight once it is on the ground
-
-
-
And all the systems will have lost backwards compatibility and we’ll have to re-buy them from some shitty cloud service if they’re even still available at all. 🙁
-
But then at least we will be able to blame the new hardware rather than our loss of co-ordination.
“The controllers we had back in my day were far superior to this cheap stuff you have today. Why if I had one of them I would have finished this already. Let me tell you about “-
*Insert random monologue with no relation to previous conversation*
Note to self: Don’t put action inside triangle brackets
-
ha ha yeah.
-
“There’s too much delay on this neural input interface junk, back in my day we used our hands”
-
-
-
I direct your attention to this article:
http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/08/99-year-old-woman-plays-nintendo-for-hours-every-day/-
Wow, hopefully I live that long and I’m able to keep playing
I’ll try and mix up the games though 🙂
-
I can see it now; Masha, 120 years old, cycling through every Prince of Persia game.
-
Ha ha. Of course. I’ll be doing that as I watch you swim in a sea of transformers toys.
-
-
-
Somehow, I don’t think my dog is going to want to get off of my bed any time soon.
Has anyone backed any video game related Kickstarters and have there been frequent updates and have you actively taken part in it?
The Double Fine Adventure is the only Kickstarter I’ve backed and while there has been some interesting game ones (Banner Saga in particular looked interesting), nothing really grabbed me like the DFA did. I don’t recall other ones having frequent “behind-the-scenes” or “backer-forums” type rewards so I was just curious. If they do have them, how are they?
Every time I see a Double Fine Adventure update video I feel all warm and fuzzy inside and it makes me super hyped for the game. I knew from the second that it was announced that it was something I’d be interested in and it’s great to see the whole process. Even though it’s still ages away I think it’s great that they’re releasing these things with little titbits of info to help make the wait less painful.
Being a big fan of art and design, seeing the latest episode (which was all about it) just made me smile. Whether the game sucks or not (it won’t!) or if it’ll even be released, I feel like I’ve already got my money’s worth just from the hours of development footage.
Sometimes I kind of regret not pledging more but then I don’t. The higher reward tiers sound amazing but they’re asking for a lot of money ($500+) for what is really quite little. Now I wouldn’t say it’s regret but there has been some other interesting game Kickstarters I didn’t back but saw. What other big (successful) game Kickstarters were there? Banner Saga, Wasteland 2, Carmegeddon, that sword game and currently Castle Story is all I can think of but I’m sure there’s more. If these are anything like DFA (moreso the whole process than the game itself) then I slightly regret not taking part in it.
I really hope future game related Kickstarters (or other crowd-funded sites) do it like Double Fine did. I’m eager to support/buy more games like this but it’s hard to know if they’ll actually pull through. I guess with Double Fine they’re a big successfull studio so it’s relatively risk free but when it’s coming from a relatively unknown then I’d rather not take the risk.
Been a while since I’ve sat down and typed a bunch but it felt good :P, cheerio for reading this far (if you did) and if you just skipped ahead, I don’t blame you. GO BUY THE DOUBLE FINE ADVENTURE GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT KTHXBAI
-
I’ve backed a few kickstarter projects, but the only game is DFA. The only reason I backed it was because 2 player productions were going to be doing the documentary and releasing the soundtrack for all the music they use in the documentary. I’m a huge fan of their work, and they always use pretty good music (and list it at the end of the episode, so I discover more musics). That’s pretty much the main reason I backed it. Sure, I’ll get a game out of it, but I like watching their videos and the insight they bring.
Other than that, no, I haven’t backed any other game, because, well, words are wind, and I have no idea how the game will turn out.
-
That last episode was so good. Chan’s story about his Dad had me teary, was so beautiful. He’s got such an amazing setup in that cabin too, far out I was jealous.
Such a super team of artists though. I’ve followed all three of those guys for years, and love seeing them all together like that. This game, man… cannot. Freakin. Wait.
-
Also more on the point of what you were saying, it kind of bums me that this is largely the perception crowd funding has gotten now. I thin it’s great that relatively larger companies like Double Fine can get behind the scenes things going and offer good rewards like that, but the reality is that smaller indie teams can’t really afford the time or manpower to do that, and need every penny they can get to survive, maybe even more so than DA. That’s not to put DA down or anything, just sayng that I think a lot of people forget the really small indies sometimes 🙁
-
-
I haven’t backed any kickstarter projects…yet. None of them have really enticed me. Plus I’m a really skeptical person, almost negatively so(I’m trying to change, I promise), so when a random dev asks for my money I’m really reluctant to part with it.
-
I backed a few games in dev and most of them have fairly good updates.
Banenr Saga is one I did back and their updates are more informative that amusing like Double fine. I think double fine will be a exception rather than the rule, Didn’t they quote something like $100,000 for the making of documentary? For indies just trying to get something out the door their is no way they can look at doing something like that.Take defense grid 2 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hiddenpath/defense-grid-2) a great original game and they are struggling to make the 1st tier of what they needed to produce the next game. You should back it (4 days to go), you even get a copy of the original game straight away.
The main thing that is pissing me off about kickstarter is the number of people who are treating it as a pre-order and how kickstarter should be liable, etc…. Kickstarter is a method of funding somebodies creative vision aand that is all. How that person thanks you may be in the form of a game but ultimately you are spending money to try and make a vision a reality.
I haven’t backed anything for a while when I realised I was spending more on kickstarters than released games and that some of them were still 1 months away. But I did back DFA, wasteland 2, banner saga and defense grid 2.
-
I’ve backed quite a few. I read any updates via Kickstarter. Backed DFA, haven’t signed up to the forum yet because I frankly don’t give a shit: just give me the game. I trust Tim to deliver something good, because that’s what he does.
Games I backed:
– Thunderbeam (iPad) (Successful)
– Double Fine Adventure (PC) (Successful)
– Class of Heroes 2 (PSP) (Unsuccessful)
– Banner Saga (PC) (Successful)
– Wasteland 2 (PC) (Successful)
– Shadowrun Returns (PC) (Successful)
– Echoes of Eternia (iOS) (Successful)
– Republique (iOS) (Successful)
– Grim Dawn (PC) (Successful)I also backed ClassRealm, which was a clever RPG system for primary school teachers, but that didn’t get off the ground and I’m kind of glad it didn’t because the guy doing it started to get a bit douchey and demanding toward the end.
-
i was late for DF adventure, so i’m a slacker backer for that!
hwever i did back a game called divekick, which was a game made by a fighting game fan thats sort of a parody of modern fighters, but looked kinda fun in a stupid way. but that one got cancelled because he got picked up by a publisher 😛
I backed DFA at the $100 price point.
That was so I could get the physical “big box” copy of the game. I was willing to pay Tim Schafer & Friends the same amount of money I’d normally pay for a new release game in $AU. Knowing that the devs were getting 100% of my money definitely took the edge off paying for the game upfront and then waiting. So yeah, physical copy was the draw card, the other extras were all gravy, although having seen some of 2PP’s other work and the KS videos that were put up during the drive, I knew the videos would be good. I was not prepared. The videos have been worth a good $20 on their own. Also, the t-shirt and poster arrived last week. It’s a pretty comfy t-shirt.
I’ve also backed:
Wasteland 2
Banner Saga
Shadowrun Returns
Carmageddon
CLANG
Two Guys SpaceVenture
Crystal Catacombs
Those have all been backed at either the entry level reward or second level (Wasteland and Shadowrun).
Shadowrun, and to a lesser extent Wasteland 2, have had a lot of additional updates regarding input to the game. Personally, I’m interested in crowd-funding a cool game, less so in crowd-developing. Shadowrun hit a stretch goal that meant a 2nd hub city was going to be added, and a poll was sent out. I didn’t really care whether Hong Kong or Berlin or wherever was chosen, since (as best as I can tell) it’s not really going to have a huge impact on the game anyway.
CLANG has had a lot of updates, especially regarding tech tests as they are narrowing down what hardware will be used – it’ll likely be the Razer Hydra, which they recently offered a promotional discount in conjunction with Razer for people interested.
The others have been relatively quiet, I know Banner Saga has a forum up for members (which I haven’t joined) so the only updates have been to deliver new artworks and backgrounds to download.
I’m very happy with all my choices so far, although DFA still stands out from the crowd. Even CLANG’s production videos don’t compare to having 2PP produce some truly beautiful videos.
There’s a great deal of personal taste involved. I think Crystal Catacombs looks like a brilliant metroidvania-style game, and was funded by only 810 people, but it hasn’t offered any sort of behind the scenes peek into what’s going on.
Unless I’m mistaken, DFA still has the “slacker backer” option going through the Double Fine website. You can pay them cash money dollars using Pay Pal and buy in at getting the game and videos (for ~$15, maybe), so there’s still an opportunity to get in on the action and watch Tim Schafer & Ron Gilbert talk to each other and wonder why there isn’t more of that being recorded all the time.
-
I’m so good at replying.
-
Ha Ha, I think reply fails are like a TAY rite of passage. You’re not fully a member until you’ve experienced one 🙂
p.s.
All are welcome on TAY, reply fail or not.-
You’re not a REAL TAYbie ’til you fail to reply, is that it?
God, you’re such an elitist Masha! :p-
Ha Ha

-
Yeah I lub my DF shirt, so so comfy! 😀
Have a good weekend, folks.
-
Thank you, have a good weekend as well.Have fun and be safe.
-
You too DC
-
Why? Are you too interesting and handsome for weekend TAY? 😛
-
If only. 😛
-
I love foxtel. I love watching all of the canoe sprints (even the bits in between when the boats are lining up). Makes me wish I was still paddling. My poor dragonboat paddle is sealed in its bag because the zipper has corroded shut :'(
I hope everyone else is enjoying the Olympics.
-
The Olympics?
Oh yeah, I played that game, pretty mediocre. Certainly didn’t inspire me to go outside. 😛
-
Totally am, don’t you worry! The Mens Decathlon was awesome.
-
I’ve seen a grand total of five minutes of the Olympics… but what I saw was worth it.
You know how when 9 starts their broadcast, they show footage of athletes and there are colourful wave thingies floating around as the athletes fade in and out? It kinda looks like they’re being derezzed. So there I am, watching these athletes be derrezed, then that ends and the hosts start talking. And in the background they have a song from Tron Legacy playing xD
Awesome. I get home and my wife has Eternal Sonata and Fight Night Champion waiting for me.
-
Obligatory… Xenoblade?
-
Your wife is slowly making me feel like I’m a crap wife! 😛
-
Awww, I’m sure you’re an awesome wife 🙂
-
oh hai nighTAY. Why am i still awake. why am i not playing games. WHY AM I NOT MORE FULL OF SAKE!?
Morning, TAY.
-
Morning crazy.
-
No. Not morning. Go back to sleep.
This is by far the most productive Saturday I’ve had in a LONG while. Woke up fresh as a daisy (which I didn’t necessarily deserve after last night’s festivities) and cleaned the bathroom + kitchen, did the grocery shopping, collected the bait order from the barge, AND I’ve watched 2 episodes of Mad Men. All before midday \o/
I really need to get out of bed early more often.
What’s everyone got planned for today/tonight?
-
Have to work tonight, will be praying for Sydney to put the cleaners through collingwood. I swear my boss knows the swans draw and specifically rosters me on for every game. I reckon I’ve only been able to watch maybe 3 games all season
-
My problem is I wake up fairly early every day, but bum around doing nothing until I realise it’s already lunchtime 😛
-
😀
-
-
No plans for tonight.
Good luck on your date today btw(it was today wasn’t it?) Actually, maybe that explains your excitement this morning who knows. 🙂-
Hope it went well, buddy. (And you didn’t take a page from my dating rule book and cancel at the last minute. :P)
-
Woo, just beat Darksiders! There’s no stopping the hype train for number 2 now!
-
Was that just one playthrough? Says you’ve played 20 hours or so on Steam but I think my first play through was significantly shorter than that :O
Darksiders was awesome, I’ve been meaning to replay it and go for the platinum but… yeah… that’s not going to happen :P. Hey isn’t 2 out next week? GET HYPE
-
Yeah, I spent heaps of time collecting everything. I got all the health shards , all the wrath shards, all the enhancements, all the vessels/empty bottles. Also the game kept “crashing to desktop” at one point so I spent like 3-5 hours at one point trying to beat it.
I COULD spend longer and buy all the combo upgrades and level my weapons but that would just be grinding and I can’t be bothered doing that.
-
Also that games needs a damn sprint button. You would think that one of the horseman of the Apocalypse would know how to run fast
-
That’s what I used Ruin for. Most areas you could whip out the horse and cover heaps of ground fast. Also the fast travel system.
-
-
Oh nice, did you find them all by yourself or use a guide? Usually with collectables I try to find what I can but I never find them all :/.
I think I only found around 70% of things in Darksiders and it took me around 10 hours on the default difficulty. Still a decent length, I hope Darksiders 2 is a bit longer though :). This EB exclusive DLC better add “2 hours of gameplay” as advertised :P.
-
I found about 90%-95% of stuff without a guide (the weapon enhancement that makes all chests / artifacts visible on the map makes it really easy).
-
Aww what? There’s something that reveals that on the map? 🙁
I love it when games do that. I don’t usually try to ‘100%’ a game by collecting all the goodies but I actually wanted to do it in Arkham Asylum. More games should have it!
-
Every dungeon has a ‘hordeseeker’ treasure that shows everything in the area, and one of the Legendary weapon mods (I think Strife’s?) reveals all nearby treasures on the map as well.
-
-
-
Yay for weekend work. Best time.
-
High five. (me too)
Hi friends!
I’m off to Canada for a while to sort out my life and career and other assorted annoying grown up things!
So I guess I won’t be seeing you guys for a while, but after I get set up, I’ll come back and hover around if anyone wants to TAY at 3AM in the morning!
You’re all awesome! And to the people who knew, thanks for the kind words!
I shall be off then!
My planet needs me!

I wish you all the best 🙂
-
Like no one ever was.
-
-
That sounds exciting, man. You’ll be missed. Take care!
-
You’re sneaky…you should have given us notice and had a proper farewell Meat. :'(
I’ll set my alarm for 3am if that’s the only way we get to hang out though.
I’m both sad and happy. I’m sad because I selfishly want you to derp around with us(me 😛 ) all the time, but I’m happy you’re doing something that will be great for you in the end. Oh, and I’m jealous of all the canadian foods you’ll be eating but I know I can count on you to eat my share as well. 😛Bye Bishy! *supermegagigantic hugasaurus*
*sniffle*
-
Man what time is it here/there? I think I have been awake for 22 hours.
Well, not intentionally sneaky sort of, I just don’t like when things revolve around me.
It’s the Internet anyways! I can still talk to y’all! I will just hover around at odd hours is all. Also I missed my domestic flight from Vancouver to Toronto.
-
-
Is it still really TAY without Bish or just a poor, shallow imitation?
Good luck and all the best with it.
-
Wow that’s awesome, good luck Bish and have fun.:-)
-
Dude, hope you have fun. You will definitely be missed here. 🙁
-
D= take care & have fun dude!
-
WHAAAAAAT!!!!!! Wow. Good luck Bish. I hope everything works out for you. Don’t stay away too long though, we’ll all go hungry.
-
Good luck, man!
So nice of you to go live in Canada just so we can get US prices on Steam games.
About to go play golf for the first time ever! Proper golf, too! None of this putt-putt business!
Let’s see if my Wii Sports Golf skills transfer…
-
Next you’ll be sitting at the country club endorsing the Romeny/Ryan ticket. You’ve changed. 😛
-
I’ll invite you all to my Summer House once it’s finished. I’ll need a few butlers!
-
Classy. 😛
-
That’s if you have time between all the shunning of Negros, Jews and women while figuring out which thousand employees benefits he is going to remove for the jolly chuckles.

-
The best Walrus dancing video you’ll see this morning.
-
…until you see this one.
WoW players: I am going to resub, and I’d be happy to take a scroll of resurrection if anyone’s after the spectral mount.
Send it to matt [dot] mawt [at] gmail [dot] com
-
Apparently because I am not subbed I can’t, damn it! Curse you Blizzard!
-
Don’t do it! There’s still so much to live for!
-
Hey Freeze, wanna play WoW? I guarantee it’ll be fun!
-
I think he likes his kids, why would he sign their souls over to Blizzard?
-
and I think he also likes married life haha. So Bunny, wanna play WoW?
-
I’m fairly happy with my life right now, no need to throw it all away :p
-
=( I would’ve supplied you with Gold & other goodies in game! haha
-
You’re an enabler, a pusher. Stop destroying lives. 😛
-
So D.C. wanna play WoW? haha
-
You’re truly a monster. 😛
-
I am the best =D
-
-
-
Gimme a few hours and I’ll join you 🙂
-
haha, i’m unsubbed at the moment, due to lack of funds & the fact i’ve got nothing in game to do haha,
-
Thanks Senor Nobshot!
I wish I could unsub but Blizzard won’t let me.
-
Did you sign up for the yearly pass? My mate did the same when his account got hacked the reoccuring take on his card was cancelled & he hasn’t resubbed & blizzard hasn’t taken his Diablo 3 away!
-
I don’t think that having my account hacked is a good way to get rid of it.
Yes I did, and yes they’ve charged me for a year’s sub already. I want to cancel since I haven’t touched the game in over a year but I can’t until October and if I’m too late to cancel I’ll get charged for an extra 6 months. Assholes.
-
just give someone you trust your account details & have them login do some suss stuff like take all your items & gold to one character then attempt to server & faction change it & Blizzard will then bring the ban hammer down on them =P
-
Yeah, but make sure it’s someone you trust, or they might use your account to do something that’ll get you arrested instead of banned 😛
-
-
Afternoon, everyone.
World of Heroes is awesome.
That is all.
-
Hey, man. Hope this day finds you well.
I’m hooked on you, baby, but the seas keep us apart and there ain’t no eye patch big enough to cover up my broken heart.
Oh, there’s a monkey in my pocket and he’s stealing all my change. His stare is blank and glassy and I suspect that he’s deranged.
Plunder, plunder how I wonder, how you got so dog gone pretty? Home of sailors, pirates and tailors, it’s Puerto Pollo your capital city.
Once my old man spoke to good king Triton and asked why all this senseless fightin’? Why can’t us men express emotion? Now I’ve got a friend in the ocean.
-
You had me at I’m.
This may be the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Decidedly NSFW language involved.

For what it’s worth Zone Alarm flagged it as a suspicious site, so I left because I’m a coward. 😛

I did give fair warning and ROT13’d it. Only have yourselves to blame.

Darksiders II is preloading on Steam now. GET HYPE
Bish is gone? 🙁
And I even missed the farewelling? 🙁
🙁

There were many :(‘s
-
I feel bad, because there he was, saying bye to people at the meat, and being more affectionate than usual, and I was just like “Bye Bish, have fun whatever!”
The next morning I found out that he’s gone, and now I get a little bit sad.

What a monstrosity!
