We’re just received word from Nintendo Australia — and it’s official — the Wii U will be released on our shores on November 30. The premium ‘deluxe’ set will retail at $429.95 or you can pick up the ‘basic’ package for $349.95.
The Wii U premium pack seems like the most value for money, containing a black Wii U console a Wii U GamePad, and 32GB of internal storage, alongside a copy of Nintendo Land and a HDMI cable among other things.
With regards to the price itself — I’m actually pleasantly surprised. After the US and Japanese pricing, I had guessed that Nintendo would sell its premium pack for $499.95. A pleasant surprise then, and perhaps an indication we are set to see fairer game prices across the board here.

I'm actually quite impressed at the equality of the US and Australian price. Well done Nintendo Australia. Now release the fucking games day and date with the Americans.
We're still struggling to get R games here and you're already asking for the X games?
I remember playing Ultravixen 3D in high school. Good times.
That seems sort of reasonable.
I'll be getting the deluxe pack for sure.
$429? Really?
Was praying for $349 but expecting for $399. At $429 I'll wait for the price drop or a REALLY good bundle.
Could always buy the basic pack for $349...
Brilliant price at $429 considering the free game. Was expecting about that without a game! And an earlier than expected release date! Day one for me!
Sorry, Nintendo. No sale. Learned my lesson with the Wii, won't be going down that road again.
what lesson? the Wii was great
Shut up and take my money!
Premium Console @ JB Hi Fi - $399 with game.
Very, very happy with those prices. I'll be switching my pre-order to the premium bundle as soon as I knock off work. I wonder if we'll get the Zombi U bundle too?
I am ringing EB at 9:00am and getting my preorder switched to deluxe. Nintendo Network premium, 32gb storage (I still havea 20gb X360) and NSMB2 for an extra $80? SOLD.
Not sure where you are pulling NSMBU from, it isn't included in anything.
Wow, I think I am short a few brain cells. It is Nintendo Land. Oh well. I will probably still get NSMBU. looks amazing.
BOOM! I'm in for the delux.
I'll probably buy the deluxe pack and Mario on launch day, then import anything else I want.
Question is, do we wait until xmas to see if there are even better value bundles?
Nope, because they'll be GONE.
Oh boy this comes out 5 days before my 21st birthday.
Oh boy.
The Australian price includes GST, in the U.S. sales tax varies from state to state and is added on top of R.R.P., in come extreme examples for can pay 8% state sales tax on top of a local city sales tax of 3%.
So that and GST is about 20% difference between US RRP less sales tax and Aussie RRP.
I can live with this. I think this will be the first pre-order I'll have ever made for anything (I remember how the Wii was out of stock for months and months).
Funny, I preordered the wii, and that's why I'm not preordering this even though I think it looks promising.
Wow! was not expecting such good prices! Stoked!!!!
Well played Nintendo. Well played.
So it has to be a Wii Remote Plus? I've got one of the original Wii's, before it even came out in black and before the controllers even had the Motion Plus adapter, which was long before the adapter was then built into the controller.
So if I get this, I won't be able to use my existing Wii Remotes? I'll need some other ones?
I read elsewhere it is compatible with standard wii remotes. Either way you can find the wii remote plus addon for fairly cheap these days rather than buying the full new wiimote
It might depend on the games, some might only need a normal remote, some might need the extra precision of motion plus. I can't imagine Mario requiring motion plus if you're using remotes.
I only have original remotes with the mp adaptor but I'll probably buy a wii remote plus for me and the old ones can be 'guest' controllers.
Lol EB has knocked of $1.95 off each of the bundles. I'd be stupid not to by one.
Buy, not by...damnit
Ummm. Are some of you kidding or do you really not understand the difference in values between currencies? Sure, you can look at current conversion rates, but it's not Nintendo's fault that one currency is weak as f*** compared to the other at the moment. With that kind of mentality, basically every product is more expensive in Australia compared to the US.
Amazingly priced, I could buy a lot worse things for $400. Can't wait for it !!!!
Very happy with these prices. Most likely will be cheaper from JBHIFI and the other big retailers as well. So no reason to complain people!

Rather hold out for the PS4 launch or (maybe) next Xbox. The Wii U will surely have good games, but not for at least a year. Nice price, but nothing to justify the early purchase.
Yep, my thoughts exactly. Would rather not gamble $400 on a new console without a decent lineup of games to launch (which doesn't seem to be the case here e.g. ports). Price would have fallen by the end of next year and the next gen sony and microsoft hardware would no doubt be shown off or even released by then so I stand to gain more by waiting and seeing out the options. Then there's the considerable amount of games due out in the coming months (AC3, GTAV, Borderlands, hitman etc) for me to even think about new hardware.
Dunno why people always buy at launch. There are only ever a couple of launch titles. Just wait a year or so, the games arent going anywhere, they wont be any less enjoyable.
